Is shot damage = Arrow Damage + Bow Damage, or what? How does that work out? Does a 3 damage silver bow and a 2 damage steel arrow produce 5 damage?

Also, does the bow affect whether or not you can hit magical enemies, or just the arrow?

Right on the first one, it's the arrow and bow damage combined.

And I'm not sure on the second one. I'd think arrow mattered, not sure though.

What are some custom classes everyone's made? Here's mine...

Ranger
Marksman
Sneak
Light Armor
Blade
Acrobatics
Athletics
Restoration

I was debating whether or not to use Alchemy in place of Acrobatics, but eventually I decided that was retarded. Thus far, I'm having a fun time my second time around with this instead of the Archer (who, for some reason, has Blade, Blunt and Hand to Hand, silly). The arrow damage mod and the new arrow speed mod make it awesome.

My class is:

Blades
Marksman
Block
Light Armor
Sneak
Security (a huge mistake...)
Destruction

If I did it again I would take Alteration instead of Security, to serve the same ends.

Also Ranger:
Blade
Acrobatics
Alchemy
Illusion (could've used other schools better)
Light Armor
Marksman
Stealth

And it doesn't seem like it would be too hard to merge the increased arrow velocity and improved bow damage mods together. Just copy the speed values from the former into the latter and viola!

Armorer
Blades
Block
Heavy Armor
Marksman
Destruction
Restoration

Just the skills I like to use. Primarily using blades, but I resort to Marksman for the sneak attack shots, and Destruction for when my fatigue is low.

Spellsword
Specced stealth (specialization makes a big difference to the class)
Alchemy
Alteration
Restoration
Illusion
Light Armor
Blade
Block

If I were to do a stealth character again I'd go;
Specced stealth (stealth has the most useable skills)
Restoration (good to have)
Illusion (overpowered)
Marksman (a bitch to raise, but good once raised)
Blade (best weapon damage)
Block (good to have)
Heavy Armor (doesn't hurt sneak in the long run, yet is much better than light armorer)
Armorer (a bitch to raise, but very useful)

That's what you need to do. The mods don't work together without editing it though. I believe there's a mod out that merges the two , but I don't feel like checking.

Also Tegadil, you're not using illusion properly if you don't think it's as good as the other skills. I'd say illusion if the best magic school and borders on overpowered. Just a hint, invisibility drops aggro and you can sneak attack a mob again after going invisible.

Hey, remember when game companies, like Bethesda, used to give us free stuff for games? Now we have to pay $2.00 minimum for friggin horse armor. Wonder how long until they start charging for patches. At least it won't be more than a day until someone "releases" the mod for free for PC owners.

Mage guild. Better to soul trap mobs yourself to recharge them. Combine a cheap soul trap spell or the soul trap staff you can get through the mage quest line and Azura's Star, and you're pretty much good for recharging stuff.

BTmod
Don't like the game's UI all that much? Well, here's how you make it better. Includes completely customizable .xml files so you can tweak your UI and make it look how ever you wish.
Default version has increased inventory size, spell list size, and map/quest screen. Also places a durability meter underneath your weapon, so you can better tell how beat up your weapons are.

I second the AWESOMENESS of this mod, if only for the inventory alone. The quest marker removal sucks (It's what makes oblivion playable over morrowind, imo), but is disableable!

My guess would be that microsoft wouldn't let them put out the update for the 360 version for free, aka they wanted to charge them for the players dling it through the 360 network thingy, and they couldn't charge the 360 people without charging the pc people as it would kill 360 sales. Thus, why they have to do this.

Here's a tip for beating the three argonians in the arena: Stand in the corner of your little entrance stall with your back to the wall. When the gates drop, only one of the three will charge forward; for me, it was the one with the sword. Kill him without moving from that corner, and you'll only have to deal with the other two. If you've got a strong ranged attack, you could probably kill them without triggering an attack. I just smashed the everloving fuck out of them, MACE STYLE!

Magic specced, Breton.
Blade
Light Armor
Destruction
Restoration
Alchemy
Mysticism
Conjuration

Though I should call myself Jedi if I can find a way to get a glowy sword; I just use lightning spells.

I like pretending I'm a gimpy rogue (I.E., mace specced) and beating the fuck out of things from stealth.

The satisfaction of hearing the sickening crack of the mace against the back of their skull as I one-shot them and then the second whump as the fall lifeless to the ground is worth every penny I spent training illusion to 100 and getting myself a 100% camo spell.

Of course.. I can't wear armor though.. haha. Not that I need to.

Volendrung is cool, but in terms of pure damage, a Daedric Longsword is better then a Daedric mace.

I was using a Voltag for a longass time (Even got my blunt up to like, 80) before I found a better damage sword.

Marksman
Stealth
Light Armor
Blade
Acrobatics
Illusion

The only debate is whether the last slot should be Alteration or Restoration.

Acrobatics and Athletics should never be one of your major skills. They're pretty much useless and raise quickly enough by themselves. In fact, they're probably the absolute worst two major skills to have. Drop it and put in Restoration or something.

Honestly, after playing for a bit, you ideally want skills you won't use much as your main, so you can then force a levelup by doing them instead of levelling during combat or doing other things you do all the time, which allows you to control your stat gain a bit better. Makes a better character overall and you don't really sacrifice much skill gain either.

Keep in mind I don't take my own advice here.

Alteration goes up pretty fast if you're using feather and shield a lot even as a minor, so resotration would be good since it and destruction are balanced to go up slower than the other skills since you use them more.

Also: I back up what people are saying. I'd recomend dropping it for Mercantile. Mercantile goes up pretty slowly even as a major skill anyways and getting it high is pretty nice.

ALL daedra are weak to lightning magic, except for atronachs, which are weak to their opposing element if they have one. (Flame are weak to frost magic. Frost are weak to fire magic. Storm aren't weak to anything. D:)

Raising mercantile is kind of wasteful.

Join the mage's guild. Create a spell that, for 2 seconds, gives you +100 mercantile and hits your target for +100 charm.
