I'll buy a new PC for the release of Gothic 3. After I've played it to death, I'll give Oblivion a try.
Yes, Gothic 3 and Oblivion are the only two games I'm somewhat hyped about. Well Spore but thats too far away. I was disappointed when I played Morrowind, and the god damn npcs just walked around and didn't really do anything The orginal Gothic had atleast everyone doing something everyday, be it working in the mines, running a store, it really got me into the game.

This will run on Windows 2000 though, right?
My guess is no, but you'll probably be able to download some elaborate installer hack to get it to work.
But that's what happens when you run an obsolete OS.
I played the fucvk out of morrowind and daggerfall, and i even own redguard, i cant wait for this game!

Bugger off, multiplayer is for fools who wish to associate with idiots.
Going to see how much this improves in less than a week.

I'm honestly a little shocked at the RAM requirement for this game.
You're shocked that it would have the same RAM requirements as WoW, EQ2, HL2, Q4, and dozens upon dozens of other games?

Yeah. Pretty much.
I thought it'd be higher. I was expecting a GB of RAM as the requirement, and 2 GB of RAM as the recommended. Willias fucked around with this message on 03-06-2006 at 12:43 AM.

Microsoft secret: W2k, XP, Server 2k3, etc. are all the same OS! They just fiddle with the registry keys, appearances, and turn on some of the latent services. And yes, you can download many of the additional tools if they're not already on your W2k box. Problem is, it violates your EULA in ways that could cause Microsoft to press charges... or at least revoke your privilege of using their products. Hooray for lazy programmers and sharks for marketers!!!

Is oodles of shitty combat a staple in open-ended games? Because that's what most of the game entailed.
Now all I need is some money to buy the game itself.

I think the thing that most people liked about Morrowind was the fact that 1) It was beautiful game. 2) If you wanted to explore, you could explore, Morrowind was fucking huge.
Hopefully, Oblivion is at least 3/4s the size of Morrowind. Since it's mostly going to be made up of forests, the exploring part will be that much more awesome at least.
I do know that the combat has been upgraded somewhat. Spell casting is a lot more smooth (no more having to unequip your weapons and shit to cast magic), and while sneaking you can perform stealth attacks with the bow. Oh, and the game will support a quite bad ass physics engine to boot.
I would imagine other improvements have been made as well.
Does Oblivion have a better combat system in that regard?

This one time, at Led camp:
I kept trying to get into Morrowind. I would come up with awsome class ideas and spend hours piecing them together... but the combat kept killing it for me. I like having combos and abilities to push 'n stuff ;pDoes Oblivion have a better combat system in that regard?
I don't think anyone really knows yet. :/
What little info I know is from a 20 minute gameplay demonstration that was posted here a month or two back.
Edit: Not sure on combos, but Morrowind's combat system for melee is still intact somewhat, the way you move will likely determine how you swing your weapon. However, the way you swing your weapon will also have more effect than changing the damage done. Attacking certain ways can knock enemies around and such due to physics being in the game this time around.
Also, blocking will be manual in this game, instead of automatic like Morrowind. Willias fucked around with this message on 03-06-2006 at 03:23 AM.
