You'll start to hate them after you close 20 or so Oblivion Gates. Those Sigil Stones are nice, as are the Ebony and Daedric loot, but they're a goddamned PITA to get.

Man, that was a fun game.

I've only cleared the one gate, so I'm hoping there's some variety of scenery.

I think I ran across four or five distinct flavors of OG. Each had its own layout, but once you knew it, you could pretty much handle the others of its type. Again, I got effing sick and tired of them after 20 or so and around level 28, so I just ignored them fromhence.

I'm just starting the main quest at level 31, so we'll see how things pan out. All the little side-quests are way tempting, and several have been awesome.

As it worked out, I did the Kvatch OG at an early level and stopped there for a pretty long time. One of the key advantages of this was that I was able to close the gates outside the towns and max my disposition with each of the towns. It definitely lubricated a few quests, plus made me that much richer via easier haggling with merchants.

I've found a mid-level charm spell does wonders to grease the proverbial wheels whenever I talk to someone.

Bah! to farty charm magic, I say. Give me an sturdy axe and shield and I'll show the whole realm why I'm deserve their adoration. And rather than butcher one of the greats by trying to adapt it to the present situation...

Guess they had it in there for nostalgia purposes then.

Looks like the patch fixes a few of the issues I ran into, like getting more than one copy of Rockshatterer.

Looks like Bethesda is going to cut down on the modability of the game. Oblivion is being rerated as Mature and has already been pulled from some store shelves pending the new boxes.

SENSATIONAL OVERREACTION ALERT.

They're simply going to put stickers on the existing boxes and change the print of new ones, and patch out the naked textures.

Rumors have emerged in the past few days that Oblivion has been pulled off the shelves of many retailers, which is now explained by the ESRB's action.

From the article and this is a website I'd trust rumors from for the most part.

Yes, they've been pulled from shelves, but re-read the article. The stores are (apparently) going to just slap "M - Mature" stickers on them and put them back up soon.

Yes, so they've been pulled from store shelves and they're printing new boxes. Yes, yes I know shiny new stickers for the already printed boxes. I worded that badly in my original post I guess.

I personally dub it the "Rapemachine". But when I really want to get to the raping... Well, I've got a whole new alternate personality for that. (Pretty neat quest, too.)

Pyramid Head mod? What a perfect mod for my Maradon-and-Karnaj-inspired quest to slaughter everyone in Tamriel.

Well, Cheydinhal's done. At first I was disappointed that you apparently cannot sneak attack with the Pyramid Head knife (it gives you a "Sneak attack for 1x damage!" message and does next to nothing), but then I gave up on being stealthy and stalked through the town, killing everyone and stripping their corpses. Some of them started disappearing, there were so many out in the streets.

My total bounty is 42000 gold. I've still got a ton more cities to go.
