Note, that it also has to have the moonlight glow upon it as well.

And Black Soul Gems are for evil characters btw. Allows you to trap human souls.

Bad humans are totaly evil and thus you killing them and trapping their soul in you say, boots, for all eternity is probalby a worse fate than hell. Thus, I see it as working out for good!

Also, isnt it soultrap and not dispell that you cast on the pedestals? Thats what ive been casting to get mine, and theres a shrine that needs a black one to start.

Odly, the letter I got in the game says soul trap, and also, the alters are containers, so they go INSIDE it, but eh, typo's and such and it just has to be alot easier to change the items inside something that whats sitting ON it.

I'd say you're probably right. Definately right about placing the gem inside the altars.

ARe you speaking of the 10 statues quest? Because there's Ayleid ruins pretty much EVERYWHERE. Far more than 10.

I would be interested, as well, in any advice people can give me as to the location of the 10 statues.

I just gave the Fingers of the Mountain book to the mage guild guy, took it back and gave it to a chick. I forget her name. She gave me some notes and said to find some sort of stone in Ayelid Ruins.

She's talking about one of the blue stones that you can find in basicly every Ayelid Ruins. Welkynd Stones or something like it. The ones that fill up your MP upon use.

Aha. I had 28 of those when I did that quest. I had gotten my Stones from the Vivendale or whatever the fuck the ruin is named. Finding it is absurdly easy : From the sewer exit you start the game at, straight ahead, is the ruin. You've got to swim about 10 yards through water, but that's it. There are humanoid bandits early in the ruin, then later if you explore thorougly, you'll find undead, and eventually a lone necromancer.

You can also get the first of 10 statues there. Sell the statue at any merchant to start the 10 statues quest.

I have a hint as to where it may appear, Willias, but I'm not sure.

Somewhere near the Imperial City, is a cave called the Sideways Cave. If you go in, the place is LITTERED with corpses. They're EVERYWHERE. There's also ancient Alyeid tablets that go on and on about the 'Terror of the most terror'. I think it only appears at 4:00 AM in that cave, but I honestly didn't feel like sticking around to find out, as the character that I was playing at that time was level 2.

I'll have to check that out after I'm done with KH2.

From what I've gathered, people have found a Giant Mudcrab (apparently easy, just a huge mudcrab) and a Giant Slaughterfish.

Set his quest to active, and it'll give you a green marker on your compass pointing to the locations of these fish.

I'd like to add, for Black's sake, that this guy is found across the bridge west from the Imperial Capital. The quest reward is an underwater breathing (And +4 athletics) ring. The rumare slaughterfish are slightly stronger than their normal counterparts, but still not bad at all. A level 1 character can do it, though they'll most likely run out of fatigue once every fight.

If you're a stealther just pickpocket and put them on their persons, or steal all the other food in the safehouse and leave just the poisoned apples behind on a table or something.

Of course, you don't have to do it that way. You could always just go Rambo/Shinobi on their asses in open combat.

Or you could be REALLLY cheap. Sneak up behind them,(when they're sleeping is good) and power attack+sneak attack them, then hold block and slam the action key. Everyone but the orc will accept your surrender and go back to sleep. The cat heals himself every time though, but being all magey and all has like 120 hp total when I was lvl 15.

Also, As stated above, remove ALL food from the place if you want to poison people. Place a poison apple(there are 10 in the cabinet in the speakers place after you pick the lock on it) in the barrel in ochivas room or on her table, place one in each of the cabinets by the table in the living quarters. You should be down to just the vampire in about a day, and hes a wuss alone.

Turning down the suck, and kicking up the awesome:

Want to name save games? (PC only) Open up the console (hit the ~ key) and type in:

save gamenamehere

Want to name a save with multiple words? Type in:

save "game name here"

With the quotation marks.

Finally, if all that crap is too complicated, you can organize your saves by character name with this program.

Mods?

Mods!

Check these out:

BTmod
Don't like the game's UI all that much? Well, here's how you make it better. Includes completely customizable .xml files so you can tweak your UI and make it look how ever you wish.
Default version has increased inventory size, spell list size, and map/quest screen. Also places a durability meter underneath your weapon, so you can better tell how beat up your weapons are.

LOD Normal Map Replacement Mod
Replaces the normal LOD maps with higher quality versions. What does it do exactly? Makes the far distance shading look better. Shadows become smoother in far distance terrain, and look much nicer.

Higher res far distance terrain textures.
Compared to a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, Oblivion is the bread, the last mod is the peanut butter, and this mod is the Jelly. The far distance terrain textures don't look too horrible, but they're at a measly 1024x1024 resolution, so they get extremely stretched out and THEN they look horrible.
This mod doubles the resoultion of the textures to 2048x2048 and GREATLY improves the appearance of far distance terrain.

Slower Leveling
Makes your skills take much longer to level up. Meaning you'll see more of the game at a lower level, rather than doing a few big things, and then be level 15 and miss out on some low level stuff. Latest version has some skills tweaked so that they skill up a bit faster compared to other skills, so you can expect better skill advancement balance. Also comes with multiple versions, so you can slow down your leveling rate by x2, x3, x4, and x5 (Epic).

The rest require you do go to some slow website named tessource, register, and then download the mods. >:(

Better Gold
Improves the texture on gold. Just a minor change, but it's still kinda neat.

Better Water
Makes water a bit brighter, and more reflective, along with greatly lowering the amount of fog underwater (you can see clearly underwater for the most part).

I came this close to slaughtering him.

My suggestion :

Do the missing brothers quest and opt for the good reward.

Talk to Renault in Chorrol and get the quest to find his impersonator. Go find his brother and the brother will return to Chorrol. Go to Chorrol and get the quest to clear the ogres from the farm. Clear them, take the brothers there, and head back to the grey mare. When you leave the gray mare, a thieves guild-ish guy will ask you to recover a treasure from ogres in a cave nearby. Get the treasure (Sword of Chorrol thingy) and turn it in to the Countess to get a shield that reflects 20% of all damage done to you. Which means the argonians that mob you, will be hurting themselves while they rape you. Which makes quite a few fights much easier.

Tried this, but no thieves-guild-ish guy approaches me. Do I need to be part of the thieves guild for this, or sleep overnight or what? I already cleared out the ogres and escourted the brothers back, went to the grey mule, exited, and nothing. What am I doing wrong?

You must be at least level 10. Also, when you talk to the townsfolk, they will mention a dark elf who's been asking around about the brothers. Once you meet both of those prerequisites, the quest to get the Honorblade becomes available.

Talonus already linked it earlier in the thread, but try this. Note, it's tessource, so you'll have to set up an account and shit to download.

Also, just because it sounds neat (haven't tried it out yet), a simple Arrow Velocity mod.
