Warrior priests don't really do single target spam heal. They can try, but it's not what they're best at. Better to go with Runepriest or Arch Mage if you want that. Having the big 3 second heal makes a big difference there.

However, it and the Disciple are easily the best group healers in the game, and they make fantastic secondary healers. They also do more damage than the other healer classes from what I've seen.

What server will everyone be rolling on? I plan on going Order first (Runepriest), but knowing what server people will be playing on for Destruction would be cool too.

Drifting Castle sounds good to me, but I'd prefer rolling up where other people are planning to go.

Runepriests/Zealots are ridiculous AE healers when you invest in their mastery tree. Go check it out on wardb or something.

However, currently Ironbreakers are pretty much overpowered. Their grudges build to 100 within seconds of PvP and they're built like trucks to match. An Ironbreaker with a pocket healer is almost guaranteed to top the damage dealt charts.

Personally I love the Witch Hunter class. It's a shame I feel like MDPS classes will quickly fall to the wayside in pitched, large scale battles in the RvR end-game (besieging etc). I love the style and rogue-type abilities of the class.

i can't remember if i was playing my chosen or my marauder at the time, but it doesn't really matter either way

what happened is we're killing time in between scenarios by grinding up our Renown throughout the Chaos newbie area. he's all keeping me alive while i smack the shit out of everything that moves because Chaos pubbies are dumb as fuck - with about a dozen of them waddling around being useless, I'm still somehow not even breaking top 5 in contribution

then Black goes AFK for one, leaving himself parked right in the middle of the spawn area

Despite a dozen pubbies' best efforts I wind up having to practically solo the whole fucking thing, and I come up - again - fourth or fifth in contribution.

Zealot the Zealot (Black) comes in third in contribution. And wins a green loot bag. Without having done a damn thing the whole time.

I wound up rolling 9/14 or some bullshit.

Fuck PQs.

Yeah, Runepriests and Zealots can AoE heal (I don't know if I'd call it ridiculous), but they can't touch a Warrior Priest/Disciple of Khaine in that regard. They just have better tools for the job.

Unless you want to play on the servers with 300+ or 500+ player queues. Then you can sit and stare at the screen... like me.

Squig Herder's been great fun so far. I'm especially interested in how some of the higher level abilities in the Path of Quick Shootin' are, as the idea of playing a highly mobile skirmisher is a lot more interesting to me than just stand and shoot.

MDPS (melee dps) survivability is my only PVP concern right now.

Which is why I'll be rolling either Shadow Warrior or a healer come Tuesday.

No.

But it does depend on who you're running with.

If you're in a group or scenario, and you're one of the only melee guys, your experience will suck. You need tanks so there are other targets besides you, and you need healers willing to keep you up.

Which is horrible for Order because they have so few tanks. Which is sad since Ironbreakers get a scary amount of synergy with a Warrior Priest or a melee DPS.

On Destruction, it shouldn't be a problem due to the popularity of the tanking classes. Just stick around the other melee and don't run in first. Let tanks become established as targets, then run in.

Mr. Parcelan

Melee DPS are pretty interesting in that they take arguably the most skill to play.

Just know this: if they see you coming, you're dead.

You're fragile and weak, so the more sneaky you can be, the better you are. Use this to your advantage by going around the scenario. If you're a Marauder, for example, head left out of the entrance and run for the Lighthouse. If you're in Ekrund's Gate, head right and run for the Supply Room.

If the thought of neither appeals to you, just get up behind someone. A lot of your abilities will ignore armor or silence people, so take the opportunity to get up in peoples' faces.

If the enemy has left their healer at the back of the group, that's the ideal situation. You can get up and slaughter them or, at the very least, drive them away or hinder them long enough for your group to take care of their tanks.

If you spot a lone ranged DPS, don't be afraid to charge. You can use Flee if you have to, in fact. When a ranged DPS gets a melee on him, his first instinct, 90% of the time, is to turn and run. Hell, with Order, they almost always run away in combat, anyway. If you've got a smart RDPS who's seen you flee, you might be in for trouble unless you pop a warming potion.

The exception to these are usually Engineers and Magi. They typically don't run from their turrets or horrors and, if they do, they're easy meat.

Frankly, I'd be grateful if more of my melee DPS teammates spent their time killing other MDPS. They can't hurt me, but they love to run away and I can't chase them for fear of leaving the node.

Taunt makes people cause 30% less damage to what they attack unless they attack the tank that taunted them three times.

That does seem like a more elegant solution than having the tank class respec to DPS like we do in WoW. I was looking at this through the lens of WoW pvp where you ignore/cc the people with plate on and kill their support classes.

There are a few problems with that. Collision detection makes it difficult to maneuver around the tanks, if not impossible in the cases of bridges and gaps. Taunt increases their already considerable damage. They have a variety of knockdowns and snares to keep you in line. Not to mention, they're usually standing right on the objective you need.

If they're smart, you'll have to engage them at the same time and either focus fire the priest while keeping the tank distracted or occupy the healer long enough to slaughter the tank.

Both aren't easy, as they're both pretty shockingly durable.

But yeah, if you go in expecting to play like WoW, you'll be sorely disappointed.
