Can't counter either of the last two since world PvP is killed by lag and PvE is a declared non-priority for Mythic. Still, it's only been out for a couple months, still well within the time it took WoW to become worth a damn.

I really wish people would quit saying crap like this.

WoW was worth a damn the month it released. Some servers were utter shit due to stability problems, but the game itself was fine for the most part.

If the BW population hasn't been reduced by 75%, it's not a game worth playing.

Unfortunately, I'm on the cusp of quitting myself as well. There's some fatal flaws with the game design that just hurt the game too much. Mythic has some great ideas, but they're poorly executed (city system) or buggy (again, the city system).

Probably the worst thing they did was make rewards too useful. In DAoC gear was all relatively similar and people fought to gain realm ranks, occasionally taking relics for a slight advantage and fun. In WAR everyone is focusing on getting the top gear and renown rank. Gear is far too focused on, and you can't even take the cities because nobody knows how to get the necessary gear to do so yet. There's blatant keep trading (because they give better renown than actual PvP) and the highest renown ranked people just use the banner trick to get their ranks. The focus on rewards heavily detracts from actual fun.

Mythic has gone a long way to fix the BW problem, really. They're obviously trying to repeat the left axe nerf scenario so that they won't outright kill the class. They're not as problematic as they once were though.

No, it really, really wasn't.

There was almost no high end content, there was very little mid-game content. There was no BWL, Dire Maul, or Maraudon. There was no PVP outside of TM griefing.

Classes were badly imbalanced as well. Warlocks were worthless, Rogues were gods, then they were worthless, then they were gods again. Priests were so boring that it was rare to see one.

Do you even remember what WoW was like the day it was released?

Maraudon was patched in before I even got to the level range for it (wasn't it the very first patch?) and I'm pretty sure the quests in Hinterlands and Searing Gorge were added in after I passed that level range.

WoW was fine with the shitty Tarren Mill zergs at first. It was just people fucking around because there wasn't even an honor system in yet.

What MMO was better than WoW at the time of its release?

I'm not saying WoW was exceptionally bad, only that it's pretty common for MMO's to be really low on content when they're new.

Hinterlands and Searing Gorge quests were years after release. I think Revantusk was a year after and Thorium Point was a bit over a year ago, maybe two?

The point isn't that other MMOs have been better than WoW, just that's its release was weak, much like WAR's.

Wait what?

Maho says WoW wasn't worth a damn when it was first released.

I said it was, aside from server stability.

You said it wasn't because there was a lack in end game content, mid game content, class imbalance, and lack of PvP.

I said it was, because it was still fun and there weren't any MMOs that were as good as WoW even when it first came out.

Now you're saying that it was or wasn't worth a damn? :V

I'm not going to say the game was holy shit amazing, but WoW when it was first released was still a pretty good game, especially compared to other MMOs out at the time. I mean, EQ1 was its biggest competition, and unlike EQ1, WoW was actually fun to play.

Maraudon was in the first patch, added on 12-18-2004. WoW was launched on 11-23-2004.

Hinterlands and Searing Gorge quests were added in the same patch as battlegrounds, on 6-05-2005, about half a year after release.

I could have sworn Thorium Point was much later than that. There were Searing Gorge quests before that but nothing worth mentioning. I don't see anyone debating that WoW was weak on release; comparing with EQ1 is a pretty sad standard. Just the difference in learning curve alone sets them world's apart, even after all the development that went into EQ.

Even if BWs were nerfed, I doubt tanks are any better than they were.

Chosen got much needed buffs (Beneficial side of auras has a 150foot range, certain attacks are now based on Strength rather than int, etc). The new Knight of the Blazing Sun class looks like it will definitely be very useful versus melee classes. Blackguards are there I suppose, don't really know how they will be in T4, but its another tank class for destruction.

So they're still classes you can safely ignore.

No thanks.

I am... in Hawaii atm so on a 2 week break from the game atm but was playing before and will be once I get back haha. Runepriest power.

Destruction is starting to swing elf land and hit the fortress a couple times a day now, they are finally wising up and heading back out to DW when the fort only has like 10min left and parking at each keep/objective so when it swings they can hit everything at once and get moving back towards the fortress again. Makes for interesting fights and a lot of freaking renown to defend against 'em. Destro has a huge population imbalance now... we used to be a rather even server till a 400 man destro alliance transfered over and borked it.

Funny part is they left their old server because they had a population advantage and wanted to get away from it, thus making one on ours heh.

Thankfully defense is so laughably strong that even with 5-6 times our numbers they have an uphill fight.

Really though, if Order can repel 5 times our numbers repeatidly on defense, I really fail to see how even sides stand a chance at EVER breaking the fortress.

I'm pretty sure they're not intended to have a chance.

I stopped playing Warhammer Online as soon as it really sunk in that the game has very little high end content, and that city raids will likely never happen as the game has too many cockblocks set up to prevent players from actually doing them.

I really cant argue with you there.

Getting set gear is so hard and random. I have gone and done tunnels so many times and yet have no pieces of Sent.

This new 40 KotBS goes and gets 4/6 in one run. Choke points are kind of lame sometimes.

Ironfist. Order there is pretty solid, as much as we are outnumbered we do quite well for ourselves.
