The character models and animations are really no better than the original Dark Age of Camelot ones. It's like they took the idea of making their game/engine scalable and accessible to lower end machines and forgot to hire artists good enough to make that look passable...

The screenshots have had me thinking that WAR ran on an updated version of the Catacombs engine from DAoC, or something very close. It has always struck me that Mythic looked for their engines to handle a high density of players without ever choking up, and forsake some of the pretty details. Though I have always hated the danm animation scaling.

Actually the WAR looks to be a nice compromise between WoW and say EQ2/SWG's engine

Hoping Mythic alters the way you dye robes. The current secondary color being the very unnoticeable threading is quite retarded.

Pretty sure they did. That your freak-ass computer doesn't handle it well doesn't mean much.

Every screen shot I've seen of this game looks very, very similar to WoW. I think I'll be staying away, besides I'm still enjoying Age of Conan.

I'll give it a shot though if they run a 10/14/whatever day trial.

The game's a lot different after twenty, that's for sure. I've found a pretty decent RPing community and the game's based off my favourite books, so I really can't get enough of the lore.

The setting is a lot grittier than most mmos I've played, which I also like. I'm pretty sick of classic high fantasy type settings too, I fucking hate elves.

So...yeah

Supposedly the high quality textures are supposed to come with the retail box.

I don't know I believe that or not, but there ya go.

And god damn Nem, how the fuck do you get that high of a healing score?

Though I guess as a Runepriest, I'm a bit jipped due to complete lack of tanks.

Or melee dps for that matter.

Also, I'm kind of surprised that those Arch Mages even did any healing. They're like shamans, where they think that their little laser beam spell can actually kill someone.

Are you doing so good because most of the players are un-experienced or are you exploited something during the testing part of this game?

I have not had much luck with this game in terms of RVR even though I have alot of PVP game exp.

You've got to remember that WoW tactics just don't work in WAR. WoW claims that it isn't based around 1v1, yet routinely forces you into situations where you are in 1v1.

What class are you playing?

Its the starting dark elf/high elf scenario. The high elves don't have the bright wizard, witch hunter, or ironbreaker, which are order's classes that deal the most damage. Zealots start in the BW/WH scenario, but if you travel to elf land, you can be a god against the higher amount of low dps classes.

Keep Sieges are fucking long. Me and Parce participated in one tonight. They need to do away with the NPCs guarding keeps outside, or find a way to scale back the amount that spawn based on the amount of players in the vicinity of the keep. We were going nowhere because of the combination of players, npcs, oil drops, and cannon turrets. We got to the door once that I noticed, and our battering ram was completely raped.

Defenders have way too many advantages in keep defense, and attackers have way too few.

The siege engines that people made a big to-do about are basically worthless. The damage they deal heals automatically before it can reload, so they're basically only good for taking down oil...which requires only a few seconds of attention to repair totally.

I havent played since the closed beta due to work, but I was playing a shadow knight or what ever the ranger looking elf is called.

I did notice that once I got 10+ I was doing alot more damage and was more useful in battle.

I know it isnt a favorite here but I am used to playing Shadowbane for PVP. WAR to me is almost as good since there are no exploits or cheats obvious in RVR..but it is still something for me to get used to. The graphics for me are great compared to SB.

I was just asking because I know PVP has alot to do with teamwork and also the person playing.

I don't know if it was the latest patch or my fiasco with drivers and bios updates, but there's a huge difference now and I'm playing at entirely acceptable rates. The parts that were the choppiest before are now around 30fps with the rest of the game being 30-50

Shadow Warrior.

The idea that you can PvP from level 1 is kind of misleading. You can, and your HP/Damage will be bolstered considerably, but to be a true threat you need abilities...especially if you're a DPS or Tank class.

Shadow Warriors are ranged DPS, so you just need to focus on three things:

1) Hit the healers, wounded or any DPS that isn't paying attention to you.

2) Run away from melee DPS or tanks.

3) Stay with your group, protect your healer.

Something I noticed the other day while bolstered, and I don't know if this intentional or not, but abilities aren't bolstered as much as your rank is. Say you're Rank 12, and you participate in Tier 2 activities. Your rank is bolstered to 18, but your abilities will only be bolstered to around 15. This makes you weaker than an actual Rank 18 character.

I think past 10 your rank levels go up 1 for every 2 levels, and each point you put into a mastery ups the level of the skills the mastery aids.

Myself and a WoW guildmate are playing a Sorceress and Chosen respectively at launch as our leader can't join us for a while. Whenever she can get things settled, I'll be switching to Witch Elf, guildmate will be a Zealot, and our leader will be a Black Orc. Much fun will be had.

I'm thinking I'm going to try Warrior Priest as my main class. I wanted to be support class since it's what I have the most fun playing. I was going to go Ironbreaker since they get lots of knockdowns and knockbacks along with doing great damage if ignored. However the ability to constantly be doing group heals, group shields, or single target spam heal while doing decent damage in the process seems pretty cool to me.
