My rogue (which I admittedly played a long time ago) was basically a crapshoot when it came to soloing: armor was so low I could barely survive most fights.
Maybe my gear just sucked, though.

Subt or Assassins maybe... Combat Rogues do it just fine. Or at least I do.

Didn't have problems as a backstab/ambush rogue here.
Adds made things tricky, but with Imp Sap, those didn't happen often.

I never could get Backstab/Ambush to compare in damage to what my Combat setup did unless it was during a Vael fight. I've heard good things but the random burst effect was too annoying for my tastes.
But now I hear even a Hemorrhage build can grind well. Goddamned kids, they're all spoiled.
With all the gear I have been buying off of the AH, I have 5200hp unbuffed, and 1300ap selfbuffed. Pretty spiffy for only a bunch of greens ^-^
I also had an opportunity to get into a ramparts group. It was slow going, as we kinda lacked DPS, the level 61 main tank was terrible and had worse gear than me x_x After a bunch of shenannigans, I ended up the main tank and tanked the rest of the stuff. I even won that neckpiece off of the demon guy
The final boss, however, owned us hard. Kept resisting my taunts and would just blast all my HP right off with fire damage stuff >.< Ate the rest of the group shortly thereafter.
Oh wells!
I got over a third of level 59 knocked out in that one crappy run o_O
Take it.

So far I'm pulling off things with a low level shaman that I can only duplicate with a Rogue. Not quite as efficiently at times (that whole Mana bar thing sucks) but walking away from multi-higher-level-target fights is still nice. And no, I haven't uber-pimped the character either. Just the quest rewards (which do seem to be a bit overpowered in comparison)
Haha, what? The only time I walk away from multi-higher-level-target fights is because I vanish.
I don't know if you've played this game in...ever...but Rogues are the bottom of the totem pole as far as class power goes duder.
I am absolutely in love with Shadowstep, though.

I'm waiting for the nerfbat to hit druids hard sometime soon. I'm having fun tanking better than warriors and putting out better damage than pretty much everyone (in bear form might I add) but, unless we get worse at higher levels, druids need to be hit with the nerfbat hard.
I notice that it tends to go in a cycle. Hunter and Warlock populations were a little depressed earlier, now they're all over the place. Once Druids become the tough guys, it'll get better.
I hear Gift of Naaru is also being nerfed.

Yeah, but that model looks much more like a NE than a HE (BE). Tarquinn fucked around with this message on 01-21-2007 at 11:09 AM.
Especially the size and the ears.

This is true, druids do hold aggro better than warriors do. So do hunter pets, annoyingly enough.
Trick is to use them. Let the druid and hunter pet offtank a mob, I tank the rest Also, a lot of feral druids just want to DPS in cat form anyways.

While I'd say warlocks were a bit overpowered, I never thought hunters were too overpowered. They're just good in the BGs, which is where the majority of people were playing prior to BC.
Druids are getting to be a different level of overpowered though.

In groups where I'm with a warrior, it seems to normally be the opposite. I tank as many mobs as possible, with warrior/pets offtanking what I can't get. Its actually better this way, as a druid will gain rage much faster and do far more damage if they can swipe three-four mobs at once. If only they hadn't nerfed swipe threat...

The only reason I can think of why they'd nerf it is because it is apparently affected by +healing.

I'm kinda split on nerfing that if it's true....
Although I think that it should scale a bit differently based on Class. Healing classes get more HP/Level added vs Melee classes. But that's just me.

Judging from the patch that went on test today next on the nerf list are MM hunters and mages. They dropd down the damage on Silencing Shot, Arcane Shot, and Barrage, and the Imp. Barrage Talent, and for mages they made the imp. frostbolt and fireball talents lower +damage scaling by 10%.

Arcane shot damage reduced oh noeesss. Good thing Steady Shot is practically already replacing it. Arcane shot is still ridiculously sweet paired with freeze trap and aimed shot for massive burst damage you can't do shit about.
The silencing shot "nerf" is also hilarious. It's like Blizzard did that just to see how gullible the fan base is. The power behind Silencing Shot is not that it does damage - you could have it do no damage at all and it's still be insanely useful in PvP. Pretty much the only way that silencing shot is even balanced with a Hunter is that it's a 41 point talent.
Overall, I'm happy if this wards off other people from rolling/leveling their hunter. Less alliance Hunters I'll have to worry about as I'm leveling mine.
And in response to the "Rogues don't solo multiple higher level mobs", I just ran 60 to 61 and routinely took on multiple 63's at the same time willingly. It's just not that hard to do. Walking away from a fight with 2 62's, 2 61's and a 60 was a little hairy though. And of course they decide to fix the "below the world" cannons after I've done that quest. Bastards.
