Looks like that on pretty much any system sadly =(
Nvidia GeForce 5500.
Oh well free upgrade is worth it!

Updated drivers fixed this.
I think I should have picked Alchemy as one of my main skills. I've raised it to like, 45 by now, and it's a minor skill. It easily beats out some of the other skills I have.
That being said, this game is 100% awesome. I spent like an hour just goofing off with Speechcraft, though I'm sad right now because I'm out of lockpicks. (Had like 60 at one point, but I broke like 20 on one lock. >:( )

I know the minimum requirements for graphics card is 6800.... whats the going price nowadays for that? And is it more cost effective to get a higher performance card?
I think a 9800 pro is actually closer to the "minimum," and they're dirt cheap nowadays.

I could be wrong, but I think she means Nvidia, and yours is ATI.
? Why does it matter?

Because when an ATI 9800 card was new, the best cards out there for NVidia were like 5900 if I remember correctly. Or somewhere around there. ATI 9800 cards are at least a generation or two old.
I managed to get to Gladiator rank in the arena and now I don't know how to beat the three little bastards that come after you. Guess I'll just have to get the 3-4 more points in block so that the unarmed ones get knockback whenever they try and attack me.
The whole game feels much more fast paced and the entire environment went from deary greyness to bright and vibrant. I'm loving it but for getting splattered by demons through the first gate. Melee hits do like, no damage I'm thinking of re-rolling as a much more magic oriented character since that's mostly what I'm doing for damage.
Currently I'm playing a Breton Cleric (custon class). Primary combat, but skills are Destruction, Alteration, Rejuvination, Armorer, Blunt, Block, and Heavy Armor. The magic skills are easily keeping up with the non-magic since i use them so much.

So what is everyone playing? I made my first guy an Imperial Thief. Having a ton of fun with this so far.
I've got a Negro with a custom class. Spellsword without the shitty skills like Speechcraft.
It's not something people hear about.
Also, is there a good place to go to fight lots of enemies? I'm trying to work on blades XP.
Lastly... how do soul gems work? I've never really understood that. How do I trap an enemy's soul in a gem or whatever? Khyron fucked around with this message on 03-22-2006 at 09:40 AM.

1. Go exploring and do some dungeons. Namely, Elven ruins. The artifacts and gems you can find in there can sell for some major gold. Of course, if your Mercantile skill sucks though, you're not going to get top prices. Notably, I found a elven stone that has a value of 1000G.
2. Dungeons.
3. I can't quite remember. I know one thing you need is a Mysticism spell that puts a debuff on the enemy you cast on, then you kill the enemy while the debuff is on em.
Mine are:
Blade
Heavy Armor
Armorer
Destruction
Restoration
Security
Speechcraft

I just made it to Warrior rank in the arena. I forgot about my Redguard tear shit up ability, but at least all my fighting skills are rising.
I still don't really know how lockpicking works. Speechcraft is easy to level up.

Since I'm an impatient bastard, someone bottom-line it for me: should I get this game, having no previous experience with games of this series? Hardware-wise, I can handle it with no problems.
Yes. It's very very fun. Time consuming though. I sunk about 12 hours in after class last night without even realising it. At about 5:30am I asked myself, "Why do I have a splitting headache and feel all tired? Oh."
For lockpicking you have to move the tip of the pick under the tumbler you want to raise, move the mouse up, then click when the tumbler is at the top to lock it in place. Harder locks have more tumblers and they fall a lot faster so it's harder to lock them. A higher security skill probably helps with this. If you're also a security newb and break a pick in a tumbler, the ones you have already locked will drop. Really frustrating.

knock the pins up, and click your mouse when they're in their "sweet spot"
It's annoying as fuck. I just cheat.

Does the game only come with a DVD installation, or are there also CDs included?
I think it's DVD-only.

The Arena is freaking awesome.
Also, it doesn't stop, really, but after you become Grand Champion, you can only fight once a week. Against monsters.

Time to upgrade. However, judging by all the comments I think this game is well worth the investment.

It is. I wouldn't recommend getting it if you don't have much time to play though. Wait, nevermind, I don't have much time to play and it's still freakin' awesome.
It's everything I wanted Morrowind and Fable to be, that they weren't!

BestBuy has a dual layer DVD burner for ~$50, no rebates.
That said, Evercrest, I turn to you for aid in figuring out if it's even possible to take screenshots without installing Fraps. All the sources I've seen have said to just alter the screenshot lines in Oblivion.ini, but having done that, printscreen still doesn't do shit. From reading up on SA and the official forums, it seems like there's an equal amount of people on both working and non-working sides; if anyone here has gotten it working and can advise me, I will build a tiny castle of pillows in your honor.
