Ok, two seperate issues. If your skills are stuck, use "player.setav skillname #" without the quotes. Make the # your current skill level and don't use any spaces in the skill names. This will fix the skill not increasing bug. Odd that it's happening when you have the skill fix mod though.

If your stat is red, something is decreasing it. Check all the spell effects you have on you under the magic menu. The only things I can think of causing the problem are a disease, an item that decreases int, or stat drain (which should go away when the mob you were fighting dies). If you still can't find it, use the same thing as above with intelligence where the skill name would be. It'll still be red, but you can get your three points back that way.

Willowisps and a few other things can cause 'stat damage', not just drain or disease. I had to go to a temple to get it fixed.

Woo, made a full suit of ebony with 55% shield in total. Could've made one with 100% camo but didn't feel like being a munchkin.

You realize the 55% is kinda pointless right? Armor rating maxes out at 85. I don't remember how much armor ebony gives, but I'm pretty sure you're over 85 with that. Also fire shield is better than just shield, as it gives an armor bonus and a magic resist bonus. (Fire is the most common spell you'll get hit with, that's why I say get it over frost or shock.)

I was mostly pissing about making grand soul gems and ebony suits galore with codes, then seeing what I could make on the enchanting table. I'll probably go back and just replace my original suit with something a little friendlier.

I kinda like my stat gear.

Speed boots, Agility Legs, Endurance Chest, Wisdom Helm, and Strength Gloves. Reflect 20% damage on my shield, and Absorb 15 health per hit on my longsword. It's powerful, though in some cases it pales compared to some of the shit I've found in the game naturally, so I don't feel very munchkin-y.

Yeah, the best enchants are the sigil stones from the Oblivion gates. While you can make a powerful character with these, they don't compare to some of the drops you can find. I guess this is both good and bad; you can't make uber items yourself, but enchanted items are nowhere near as good as some of the dropped/found items.

I found the mages staff you get when getting into the Arcane University to be grossly overpowered. I got a Destruction/Lightning staff and it can kill anything at level 20 in two strikes. I'm plowing through high level daedra like they're not even there.

The only problem is keeping it charged up but that's relatively easy to do with captured souls.

No way. Overpowered is an Ebony Longsword with 15-point Absorb Life. 15point DD and Heal every hit. I completed the final Fighters Guild quest without my life dipping below 75% the entire run.

Aye, but I also have a high Athletics skill at this late stage in character development, so I can literally run rings around any creature and blast them twice for the win.

I used the staff for a while and thought, "Wow.. well.. ok, the game just got put on Easy mode."

One of the sigil stones you can get from an Oblivion gate gives a 25 point absorb life. Just quicksave before you complete the gate, grab the stock, check it before you load next level, and reload till you get it.

Hmm.. thinking about it.. all I need to do is add different elemental shields to my armour and *poof* instant walking munchkin. Most of the stuff you fight later on you can't stand toe-to-toe with anyway without getting knocked down or dazed, unless you do an annoying "fencing" style of dipping in and out, which I don't like.

Morrowind was melee for the win, and spells were just for utility every so often. Seems Oblivion is the other way around.

OK, what am I doing wrong with this dupe bug?

I got my bow, I got 2 kinds of arrows

I draw my bow and look straight up, and I go into my inventory while my bow is drawn and I switch arrows, then I drop an item and... what? both the arrow and the item fly straight up, but nothing is duplicated.

You have to click the second set of arrows twice (Getting the error message saying you can't switch weapons) THEN drop your item to duplicate.

Also, you can't dupe certain items, like, say, nirnroot (Crai), weapons, shields, certain armors, filled soul gems, etc.

Go do the nocturnal shrine quest, newb.

Or, try the procedure with something you know you can dupe like simple ingredients (Frost salts come to mind).

Your arrow should be pulled back all the way (And in ready position) when you hit tab, if you equip something else (by holding the mouse button down when you open the menu) it fubar's it.

Alternatively, stop spending hours trying to dupe something and just go get the code for whatever you're trying to dupe, in turn saving a hell of a lot of time and effort.

*notes that there are 5 different staffs depending on your level. If you get it later in the game it's more powerful.

I thought that might be the case, but it's still silly that I can kill anything with relative ease now. I might dump the staff and go back to blades as the fun factor has significantly dipped.

P.S. If you don't mind doing a side quest, you can get a REALLY nice house in Anvil for only 5000g.

Sounds good. What's the sidequest, and to whom do I speak to activate it?

Velwyn Benirus at The Count's Arms in Anvil gives the quest by selling you the house, cheap. It's haunted. Be ready to fight ghosts when you sleep there, which you have to do to proceed in the quest. The quest is to break the curse!

I made a beautiful Daedric Longsword with 10 points of fire, frost, and electrical damage on strike. Would've been 18 points each but then it would've only had 18 or so charges and I don't feel like going into my inventory every ten seconds.

But I only see the fire effect when I hit something with it. Do they not stack or am I ok and does it just not show all the effects?

The house in Skingrad costs 25,000. The house in Chorrol is only 20,000. The one in Skingrad has something like 6 or 8 display cases, so if you're looking for a place to stash lots of shit...

Plus the one in Skingrad, the cases up top in your room, are large enough even for the Wabbajack staff.
