You fail to see the point of this.
The game was balanced at the low end WITHOUT these items being available. Now that these items are available the balance has been SEVERLY thrown off. There are 2 solutions to this. Either eliminate the use of the overpowered gear, or tweak the mobs to bring them back into a balanced state. Given that not *EVERYONE* has access to a Fungi, they can't tweak the mobs to treat eveyone like they're wearing a Fungi. Since we can't alter the mob, that leaves us altering the equipment.

No.. it isnt preparation... it is blatant abuse of system. You know obtaining a Fungi will give the mob about a 99% LESS chance of killing you. Yes.. it effected the game THAT MUCH. Mobs just dont hit for enough in the low game to combat versus something like a Fungi. That is why 50+ spells have a 10 level restriction on them. They are just doing it to equipment now too.

So what? It's not like the low level game matters.
Being able to solo something that was meant to be grouped against at that level is abuse of the system. Quit thinking about your precious twink, and think about the nontwinked players who get screwed out of exp, and loot that they can use, which you'd probably end up selling, asshat.
And low-end of the game does matter, you total idiot. It's the learning period for the high-end. Stuff changes, dramatically. Resists, toughness, damage. These change ON A DIME, high end. Ofcourse, you probably wouldn't really know that.
Forsaken Revenants, blue con, 49ish. Hit mid 100's. Shriekers in The Deep. Blue con, I'm guessing low-mid 50's. low/mid 200's. 100 damage difference in 5 levels is ALOT. [ 04-10-2002: Message edited by: Skaw ]

You're cheapening my accomplishments. I have a certain amount of pride in my characters. I am fairly proud of the fact that I have a 51 and a 54 that have acheived these levels with no exploits and no appreciable twinking (I have made a few good trades and such, but nothing on the level of a 58th level mob drop going to a level 1 character). You're showing up and obliterating mobs left and right, Not really learning how to play the class, Not really putting time in to developing the character, just mowing on through to the end so that you can share in the phat lewtz. You're not EARNING your place.
It's not MY fault that you didn't like your class. I had to abandon my Necromancer do to shit that happened. Big deal. I sucked it up, got my Shaman out and continued on with him (I hate character transfer though... gah!). I've had to suffer the "my class sucks" aspect of it...

YOU don't know how to play the classes. My roommate is considered to be the BEST enchanter on Bristlebane. Not by a few people, by most of the server population. I have had LONG discussions and watched him in action. I know lots of enchanter shit because of this. However when it comes time for his character to be active, *HE* has to be the one at the kybd. Not me, not his SO, *HIM*. Know why? I know the principles and theories, but I don't know the *HOW*. I can sit there and hit buttons, but I don't have the reaction time because I've never played a character in that situation. I could most likely run his enchanter well enough in a group environment that most people couldn't tell a difference. However in that one freak accident that makes or breaks a great enchanter, I would fail and I would fail HARD. If it's my roommate at the console, it would be another walk in the park.
And to give you an idea of his level of play, he's been the only thing on several occasions that's saved a N ToV raid by his guild. Instinct, reaction and a bit of luck in some cases. This is the wanker who dictates a mob and hastes it even though he knows in less than a minute he's going to be on the receiving end of that mob. And he's still able to walk away from it.
You will never EARN a place. You can play AT the class and you could probally do a passable job with most melee classes... but you will never be of "Uberguild" status.. you will not be one of the best of your class.
GODDAMN. Is it so hard to imagine, in a RP sense, that somebody's big brother or father, a great adventurer, would give his old equipment to them? Or something like that...
GET OVER IT. Being low level is the worst part of the game, in my opinion. Many others share this opinion, though not many are here.
I believe that not twinking is a waste of time.

Never said I would. But in the time it takes for me to level from 51-60, I'll have learned sufficiently to do "OK" on a raid. I've never strived to be the best in anything. It's just not worth it.
