Tash is what lowers a mob's resistance to magic. It's unresistable. The chanter might have Tash'd, then tried to hit it with something. That could be resisted.

Pallys can dish out some of the best aggro I have ever seen. Some equal to a warrior with a sapper and primal .. When I ever join pickup groups, for exactly what you just said Pally > Warrior as a tank.
I can dish out some aggro myself (Slow, tash, cripple, ect ect) But I find it really hard, to impossible to out taunt a *good* paladin.
"OMGOMGOMG snoy si not allowing us too twink so ie am quittang bcuase i haev a leval oen mokn wiht fungi adn now he sux!??!111"
Y'know, this is actually a very positive change. Now, people are going to have to actually, *GASP* OH MY FREGGIN' GOD, PLAY THE GAME if they want to get anywhere!
I remember a time, way, way back, when my bro was on the verge of quitting.
Traedor was a level 38 ranger. His equipment wasn't that great, ivy etched and combine longswords. However, My bro was so proud of him. He'd EARNED that equipment, no, he didn't tradewh0re, he FOUND it all. He was very happy.
Then, he decides to go to GFay to meet me... And sees a level 2 ranger in better equipment than he had. And he got a tell from that level 2...
A_n00b tells you, "h4h4 u sux k thx"
Needless to say, my bro was PISSED. He'd worked his ass off for 38 levels to get his equipment, and here was some newbie twink with better stuff than he had. The twink didn't even get to the actual GAME part (Which is around level 7 or so).
Don't like it? Well, you don't HAVE to play EQ. There's DAoC, AO, and WoW will be here in a few years. If you hate it so much you want to quit, go. More MOBs for the rest of us.
But, honestly, if you're getting all worked up over having to play the game to get anywhere, you shouldn't be playing EQ.
In the immortal words of Abashi the Sock Puppet:
"Play Tic-Tac-Toe, or QUIT YER BITCHIN'!"
While the twink you spoke of was rather rude, that was an isolated example. 99.8% of all twinks (note: Not monks with full Wu armor and a Cane of the Tranquil) usually just leave you alone.
Care to explain WHY it is a good change, other than "oho!~ yuo haev 2 fite mobz nad gruop 2 lvl k"?
Twinks do not alter your game in any way at all, other than by making you jealous.

Sounds like some advice your brother could take..

You're forgetting one thing, Ruvyen. The fact that we that can twink have earned the item one way or another. You think tradewhoring lets you magically get full Kael armor and Primal as fast as you can snap your fingers? You think fungi tunics are handed to you the moment you ding 55 and hit the King camp in Sebilis? While the twink you spoke of was rather rude, that was an isolated example. 99.8% of all twinks (note: Not monks with full Wu armor and a Cane of the Tranquil) usually just leave you alone.

Twinks do not alter your game in any way at all, other than by making you jealous.
So you've earned the item. Was it hard-earned, or did you just tradewhore for it?
If it was hard-earned, as in it took an assload of time and effort to get it, great job.
If you just tradewhored for it... You see my point.
My point is, is that those that play the game deserve the really good stuff, while those that tradewhore all day don't.
Or, have you forgotten that EQ is based around combat?
It's a game. Games are for playing. Combat is the way EQ is played, not tradewhoring.
Besides, playing a major twink bores the hell out of me. There's no challenge. Moderate twinking, like a level 11 warrior with a full suit of bronze and maybe, MAYBE, ONE piece of Crafted, is fun for me. A level one warrior with full Crafted except for a Fungi tunic is boring as hell, because there's no challenge. It's ust level-level-level, without any fun in between. So, it should be easy to guess that I'm biased towards non-twinking.
So what if a character has better gear when it comes to roleplay? Just because I twink doesn't mean I don't roleplay in EQ. You can ask quite a few people about that. My warrior was quite roleplayed, back when the twinking I gave her was a fairly high end set of twink gear. Just because I don't "work my way up" doesn't mean im playing "Just to make numbers change".
Please, give me a reason as to how you can logically connect twinking and roleplay. Those that wouldnt normally roleplay and twink arent a good example either -- they wouldnt roleplay, twinked or not.
Its the type of PERSON that doesnt roleplay that turns this into an MMOG, not a person that twinks.
Now, for Ruvyen:

WHY is tradewhoring not part of the game? This is an RPG. There were just as many people that worked in the trading, buying and selling of goods as there were those who slew the dragons/gods for those goods. "Tradewhoring" as you so lovingly put it, is the way some people enjoy the game. You don't. Just don't friggin bash others because they do.
Because I had some things beyond my level at 20 because I spent my time trading for items, that makes me a bad person? ONO!
And maybe you enjoy the lower levels more. Giantt may not enjoy those same lower levels as much, and wants to get past them.
But geez. If the game is fun for you one way, great! Enjoy that. But just because you don't understand how it can be fun for others in another way, don't bash them.

Irrelevant

Not really

Why not? Tradewhoring is as much part of the game as fighting is. Fighting is just that much more random and tedious.
Or, have you forgotten that EQ is based around combat?
Real life is based around eating, fucking and sleeping. What was your point with this again?
It's a game. Games are for playing. Combat is the way EQ is played, not tradewhoring.
Show me the article/interview/anything where Verant Interactive can be quoted saying something like this, and I'll agree with you. Otherwise, that's just your opinion.

So basicly, you want to enforce your opinion upon others because you deem it superior. Okay. In other news, France surrendered.

Ditto. Replace "hurt" with "laugh" though.
DEE YAH BLOW.
D-I-A-B-L-O.
Or Diablo 2.
EQ is a RPG, and it has combat ELEMENTS, yes. It has quests that don't have so much as a single bit of combat in it. It has tradeskills, it has it's player base full of Warriors, 'merchants' (people who sit in GFay trying to buy/sell to make a profit), guilds, magicians, etc.
If a merchant in a book can go from town to town buying and selling to make money, why is it a bad thing when players in a RPG do it? [ 04-13-2002: Message edited by: Khyron ]

Same principle. Then they could fight harder stuff, which is more fun than kobold-bashing. Only a conservative GM that isn't open to new thoughts like that wouldn't allow it.
(This is not the end of my argument, because I'm sure someone will use the "omfg u twink u haev 2 gruop now lololololol" again)

It isn't like Verant put some outright ban on twinking, they fixed two items which were obviously too powerful (The axe was obviously a mistake in terms of when it proc'd)
You can still twink, you can give your twinks outrageous AC, stupidly fast weapons with high haste and still mow down stuff, it's not like you suddenly have to run around in cloth with your *short sword or something
Just my 2 cents

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't it turn out that the fungi/axe nerf was a joke someone pulled? And that Verant hasn't done any such nerfing?

The axe was changed to proc at 35, and 'apparantly' they are doing the fungi next patch
So when others go looking for just one single spawn that will be good for them, they can't find it, cause the overtwinked character is just mowing through the zone.
Light twinking, I don't mind. Something that makes you capable of doing that pisses me off. And yes, I've seen this a *lot* in Oasis, and EC, and frankly there aren't that many places a necro can solo in her mid-teens when she's near the FP area. So this puts a serious cramp on someone that's just trying to get some exp. [ 04-13-2002: Message edited by: Lyinar ]

Lyinar had this to say about Robocop:
What bothers me about over twinking is this: The uber whateverclasstheyare that mows through all the spawns someplace (like Unrest, or Oasis), killing things in a fraction of the time it would take someone else to, or not having as much downtime. So when others go looking for just one single spawn that will be good for them, they can't find it, cause the overtwinked character is just mowing through the zone.

The above is bad, and is usually the result of powerleveling, not twinking. I try to stay in underpopulated zones like Upper Guk and the like.
In Oasis, it's uber twinking. One person, taking on like, deep water crocs and this is when even my necro can't solo them, and the person is a lower level than me.
So that means I'm just trying to get by, find *a* spawn, and I can't, cause some dick is taking everything.
Lyinar Ka`Bael, Piney Fresh Druidess - Luclin
In fact, as Snoota said, ubertwinks tend to stay in underused zones or places where there are plenty of spawns. Cause, y'know, when there aren't a lot of mobs around, it goes both ways.
When there's groups, I just grumble cause I didn't get it first. But when there's someone out there killing everything in sight just because they have the ability to do that, from uber twinkage, it pisses me off. And I'm talking about someone low level, who you can tell is twinked out the ass, not someone like 17th or 18th where crocs would be dark blue to them.
