Talonus Model 2000 was programmed to say:
Soldier first time around is the easiest. Once you have the assault rifle or shotgun achievements it's easier to be one of the other classes, as soldier has a lot of wasted skills. An adept with assault rifle is easy. I'll probably be finishing hardcore in under 10 hours with mine; would have been faster had I not wasted time on quests inside the citadel.
Wait, once you get the weapon achievements you can put points into that weapon as any other class or at least become "trained" so you don't totally suck ass? If so I need to go start a soldier and unlock that shit so I can play with the other weapons.
Also I played an Infiltrator on my first run through and I basically destroy people. Pistols are still great weapons and I've got my sniper rifle for ranged work plus Overload, Sabotage, and Dampening. The only time I've had any trouble is on large groups of biotics that rush and gangfuck stunlock me to death.
I really think any of the classes are viable.
And I think I just figured out why you get the different weapons. Once you get a talent on achievement status you get a bonus talent when you create a new character. As long as the class you're making doesn't already have this talent you can choose it to put points into. aka I got the sabotage achievement on my first run through and can pick that as a bonus on my non-tech characters. When starting a new game with any of the "Expert" achievements unlock, you get a bonus trait to take in to the game. This is 1 Weapon, 1 Tech skill, or 1 Biotic power. Not entirely sure if it's 1 of each, or just one total.

Dr. Gee got all f'ed up on Angel Dust and wrote:
Damn, I wish I could just do that on a new soldier then just play my infiltrator. I really like that character. Oh well. I unlocked Electronics last night and I think I'd rather have that than hacking for the shield boost. Tough call though since I think hacking gives you more random chests and shit.
You don't need to beat the game or even get the kills all on one character; it's entirely possible to do Eden Prime several times with remade characters and get the achievement.
Decryption/hacking are kinda pointless to get on your main character. Most allies can get the abilities, so you can point dump onto one of them and it'll cover that stuff. Actually, allies seem to handle abilities far better than general combat so I'd actually recommend that.

Dr. Gee wrote, obviously thinking too hard:
Do you still get the benefit of those in terms of hacking into things? I remember that there were problems with that in KotOR, but I haven't tested in here yet.
Yes. Decryption on an Ally counts as Decryption on you.
My dude is level 57 now. GETTING CLOOOOOOOSE!

I'm sorry, baby, but I don't need TWO fucking soldiers.
I wish there were three squadmates to take along instead of just two. You've always, always got to bring a tech-savvy squadmate so that you can get the locked crates, terminals and shit, since they close after you complete the quest. I've earned some nice shit from crates and, really, Tali is a bit of a tank in her own right since she's got shields out the wazoo.
But Biotics are so damn useful. Geth Destroyers are such bitches when you throw them in the air, otherwise, they just run right over you. Also, Lift basically nullifies Hoppers.
So basically, my team usually consists of Liara and occasionally Wrex. I occasionally substitute for Tali and/or Garrus. Ashley is cool, but I have yet to find a situation where I need that much firepower.
Really, the only person I can't stand is Kaidan Alenko.
"Hey, commander! Take me along!"
"Kaiden, are you any good in a fight?"
"I've got...you know...stuff like guns and such."
"Uh huh. Do you have any cool abilities?"
"I can poop."
"Is there any chance of having remotely hot sex?"
"Well...uh..."
NO FUCK THAT GUY

Yes.
But I didn't find any until right before I beat the game.

Also, who the hell plays with the "film grain" option on under graphics? It was so annoying I had to turn it off. Makes the graphics look far worse, in my opinion.

i fail at mass effect
but i did get the hot alien lesbo sex scene, so i consider this a triumph

Nope. You got 3 points up to level 15 on Normal.
