That's probably my fault, I really only remember games that I find remotely interesting.

Yet you conveniently forgot to mention Assassin's Creed and Devil May Cry 4 for the PS3, in spite of them obviously interesting you enough to include them for the 360.

Sounds to me like you're purposefully omitting details in order to further your own agenda! Preposterous idea coming from Maradon, isn't it.

But it's okay, I forgive you, because the PS3 does suck donkey balls lineup-wise.

Please forgive my tech ignorance, but I have a question:

Is the 360 Elite worth the extra $80? What exactly am I paying for besides 40GB more than the regular XBox, and for that matter, how will the extra GB help me out?

Basically you are paying for the bigger hard drive and being black. If you intend to use it as a media center and store assloads of stuff on your drive, could be handy. If you just plan on playing games, 20 gigs will do you fine.

What Alaan said, but more indepth.

The price of the Elite, is exactly the same as the price of the Core(the $300 system with just a wired controller) + 120GB drive. You get everything else the $400 system gets as well.

HDMI doesn't sound like that big a deal to me, although to be fair, reading about it make Sentow head go boom.

Premium package it is, I think!

What kind of bad things?

I've heard it compared to favorably before, and the premise is hot.

Shadowrun being an awsome source material anyway.

Source material doesn't really matter. Since they basically ignored a lot of the source.

So basically it's like any given high-profile release.

To chime in: Madden was a cross-platform game and required different controls not only for the fewer buttons availible on the Wiimote, but also the greater degree of motion sensing availible.

On the games that are Wii-exclusive, the motion sensing is dead accurate (Assuming you spent a few minutes fucking with system settings, default has the sensitivity turned up far too high).

That's no excuse. Red Steel's controls were absolutely abysmal, and the game was designed exclusively for the Wii. And I'm sorry, but the stuff that Madden had issues with should not have been issues. Like, just throwing the wiimote out to the side for a stiff arm was an exercise in futility. Kicking was also a crapshoot -- sometimes, you'd hit it great, other times, you'd do the SAME EXACT THING and the ball would fly off.

And even system exclusives aren't perfect. Cooking Mama, for example, had issues picking up on motions multiple times, particularly when it involved cracking eggs. To get it to work, I had touse a horribly over exaggerated motion.

I'm not bashing the Wii, just syaing motion sensing technology is not quite where it needs to be at this point for games that require very precise control. It is something that should be worked out before the end of the year, much like the PS3 will get most of its kinks worked out.

Red Steel suffered from a horrible way to USE the wiimote, tbh. Scrolling the fucking screen? Give me a break. If it was just straight turning with no pointing involved, it would have been much much better.

And I think half the point is the exaggerated motions; Especially in Blur.

Don't think so. The new 65mm aren't out yet. Definitely wait around for those before buying a new 360.

I'd say any troubles with controls are more the fault of developers than the console. Trauma Center is a perfect example of the controls done well. You need to make precise movements very quickly, and the remote responds well. If the developers do a good job with the controls there should be no problems for the player.

Has anyone heard much about 'The Darkness'?

I just was watching the E3 2006 demo video on youtube - http://youtube.com/watch?v=nUPEaXTa7yw, and reading the Gamespot preview http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/thedarkness/news.html?sid=6155841&mode=previews makes it sound pretty interesting.

I haven't read the comic, has anyone here read it? Is it any good? Chronicles of Riddick was fun as hell, so I've got good hopes for this one.

From what I've seen, he's rarely ever using "The Darkness". It relies too much on cool guns and shit instead of his actual powers from the comic.

If it ends up where he's able to transform all the time and I can slice shit the hell up as The Darkness, then I'm all for it.

Right now it looks like too standard of a run and gun.

From what I can tell, he can use The Darkness anytime, as long as its relatively dark. The youtube link shows him in it most of the time, and there's a lot of talk about 10-20 unique darklings, one of which helps by extinguishing lights for him.

I haven't seen a more recent video than the E3 2006 video, so it may have changed a lot since then. I dunno. I hope not, the premise sounds interesting.

Since no one has mentioned it in passing, the HDMI output is a huge advantage of the 360 Elite, and worth the $ all by itself. HDMI has a much highe bandwidth than component, and is pretty much necessary if you're planning anything 1080p. Otherwise, it's the video equivalent of plugging a $1000 audio system into $10 K-Mart speakers--what's the point?

So if you're the least bit serious about HD, HDMI is the way to go.

Yes, that's one thing I made certain of when I bought my HDTV - it's got HDMI w/ HDCP.

This is my HDTV. 32" is plenty big enough for my bedroom, where the consoles go, and I got a pretty good deal on it when I bought it.

Just sucks that most HD sets have 1 or 2 HDMI ports I have my PS3 and cable box plugged into mine. Have the 360 using the VGA port right now and the wii on Component.

Have yet to find a solid HDMI switcher box without a ton of problems.

Having read quite a few of the comics (I think I'm up to like, #32) I have good hopes for the game.

quote:
In keeping with the books, the darklings will have a darkly comic aspect to them. They'll sometimes urinate on the corpses of enemies they've killed, or throw up a touchdown sign after a successful slaughter.

quote:
In the all-new level we saw, Jackie was attempting to infiltrate and take out one of his uncle's underground drug rings. This could be accomplished by speaking with a nearby bum--using a very Riddick-style dialogue tree--to gain the password to the hideout. Alternately, you could just go up to the door, use your powers to knock it in, and just tear the place apart instead. Like Riddick, this game will use a semilinear structure whereby you'll have sequential story goals to complete, but you'll also be free to visit any other accessible areas to explore and complete available side missions. (The game will even have a subway hub to facilitate transportation between areas.)

And watch the video, Gains - picking up and throwing dumpsters, cars, etc... right towards the end, Jackie's watching TV and while he watches, you see one of the darklings walk over the ceiling to go and change the channel to cartoons. A little touch but I can see a lot of those little touches turning the darklings into something close to what they are in the comics. Without the funny costumes, but still with personality.
