I was wondering.... Cause my god, my Roselia is a fucking whore. No sooner than I get the egg out that she and the Carnivine made, then they have made another... and another... and another.
I eventually had to take em out just to stop getting eggs. Not to mention the kids they made were all damn near useless. All they had was absorb, which every budew in the game already has, and then some.

Remember, the father determines the moves that get passed to the baby, while the female determines the species of the baby. The baby has to be able to use them, or have them as an Egg Move - as in, moves it can only learn if it's father has it.
This is why if when you use TMs, it's best to use them on males.

That makes no sense then. 
The Carnivine was the father, and he never had absorb, ever. In fact his abilities at the time were Vine Whip, Ingrain, Sweet Smell, and Bite.
The Roselia had Magical Leaf, Toxic Spikes, GrassWhistle, and Giga Drain.
I was under the impression that breeding is what made it POSSIBLE for a new Pokemon to get moves outside of its movepool. Is that wrong?
And even if its not, both Roselia and Carnivine share Ingrain and Sweet Smell, but neither had absorb, and that is the ONLY ability the baby hatched with.
And speaking of egg moves, what ARE those? Are those moves the egg has before it hatches if you fight with it or something? I've never been able to take an egg into combat.

I have Wi-Fi up here at work, no voice chat since can't use sound, and I don't remember how the whole x-fer level up thing works it's been too long. Don't you actually end up LOSING the pokemon? Or do you just trade junk pokemon for the Haunter, then trade back after it evolves?

Yep, trade it, it evolves, and then trade it back. Requires someone trustworthy.

Shieldon is absolutely horrible. He can't do ANY damage to anything, even those weaker than him. And the type that he is best against is also the type that does the most damage to him.
He does make a good early game tank though, hard as shit to kill when you are facing all the Normal types. He lasts forever.... If you have the patience to actually try and kill anything with him anyway.

I'm honestly more annoyed by the Honey Tree thing.
Because not only does it cost me money, I have to remember which tree I did what with, and wait a really long time... Only to come back and find a wurmple.
I don't really like any of the Pokemon you get from the trees anyway, so I may skip em as long as I can still fill my Pokedex without em if I can see em at least in the main game for the 150. If I have to actually have to catch one and evolve it to fill out an entry Im gonna be pissed.

And, god, if you do grind, equip the amulet coin on your lead mon.
I had 99 Hyper potions in my bag and 50 revives, used about 20 and 10 respectively on the elite 4 with my highest being Empoleon at 52 or 53 and the lowest being Infernape at 42 (and yes, he did come in for a few fights, mainly to blow his 5 close combats on normal mons.)
