You gotta wait till Friday to see one now.

And, what's the difference between the Luck Incense and the Amulet coin? I get double cash from the Luck Incense, and I haven't found the Amulet Coin yet.

Amulet Coin is in one of the ruins out in the Cute Pokemon Walk Park.

Just special sweep it's ass with anything half decent. An Alakazam could do it no problem.
Anyone got a Lickitung or a Tangela they can breed for me? I don't want to waste a transfer slot on a single evo and I don't want to wait for their swarms.
Will give Feebas, Spiritomb, or any of the mons I have that can be breeded. (363 mons caught here guys, I probably have SOMETHING you want. )
I've tried about 5 times getting him to 1HP and using ultra balls but that doesn't work either.
e: also dusk balls.
fuck i even tried a timer ball one time Gadani fucked around with this message on 05-02-2007 at 11:23 PM.
There's no secret method, it's just luck. You'll get it eventually.

- They only switch areas when you do. If you walk back and forth over the border between routes (or a route and a town), they will just keep moving across the map. Do this until they land in the spot you're walking in.
- Do this in a low level area and have a Pokemon leading your party that's A) above the level of the wild Pokemon in the area, and B) lower level than the runner. Use a Repel and walk in tall grass while the runner is in your area and it will be 100% chance of encountering it. Remember, repels only work on Pokemon lower level than you.
After that, just Mean Look/Block and you're free to deal with it as any other legendary.
1) Get the highest catch rate ball available
2) Get a fuck load of them
3) Save infront of the targeted once off encounter
4) If they run away, you're fucked, so use a Wobbuffet or something that's fast enough to use a move so that they don't run away
5) Start throwing balls like a retarded mad man. It's usually quite alluring to try and chip their health down and get the status effect on them, but their catch rates are so fucking stupidly low that it's a 2% difference or so. It's not worth your time and frustration, unless you're quite confident in your false sweeper (I'm going to plug Marowak as the best one in the game right here.)
6) If you run out of balls, reset and try it again.
As an aside I'll explain the coolest Marowak in town right now (He seriously makes for a great false sweeper and all around Physical sweeper)
Adamant Marowak w/ Thick Club (2x Attack stat for Marowak)
252 EV in Attack
252 EV in Speed
Double Edge
False Swipe
Bonemerang
Swords Dance or Agility ro something.
This was my 3rd gen setup for Marowak, and it was always really effective. Just need to watch out for Aerial Ace and other special sweepers. I'm still not overly familiar with D/P, but this ought to still be a pretty effective mon.
Edit: Checking LG, I had Brick Break on him as the final move. I'm pouring over the Attackdex now to see if I can slot better stuff on him. Aerial Ace is another good choice for him. Stone Edge might be worth exploring.
Edit the 2nd: Jesus, you can get Belly Drum on him. Liam fucked around with this message on 05-03-2007 at 12:26 AM.
(It is pretty ace, tho.)

Explain Effort Values to me, if you could. I notice you get different types of EV from fighting different monsters - does that affect vitamins and such?
Wait a minute... you bitch and rant and shit the thread up about boosted EXP hampering your pokemons' growth, yet EVs elude you?

Here we go again.
Every pokemon in the game has EV's as a hidden stat assigned to them. It's static in that it's always the same amount of EV points per pokemon. Effort values are basically what was referred to in the olden days as why levelling up your pokemon naturally was more effective than levelling them up through rare candies, and also why a trainer's pokemon was stronger than a wild one.
The type of EV that a select pokemon has is typically attributed to their major stat. Like, Zubat has 1 speed EV. This also tends to grow in terms of evolutions. A Golbat has 2 Speed EV's and a Crobat has 3 Speed EV's.
You gain EV's every time you gain EXP from a pokemon, so whether you like it or not, you continue to accumulate EV's as you play through. EV raising is typically saved for post game and when you've bred something with a cool movelist and shit.
All pokemon have a max potential of 510 EV's. Every 4 EV points equal out to a single stat point, so like my above marowak example, that translates out to an additional 63 Attack and 63 Speed. Im just lazy when it came to the last six but I think I dumped it into HP or something.
There's a pretty good list of NPC trainers out there that have EV teams built up pretty much for this express purpose that you can rematch every 100 steps. I'll grab that list if there's any interest. Serebii has the EV points listed in the Pokedex at the bottom near the breeding information.

Most people don't have access to someone else to do this. And it is very annoying.(Though, it's not exactly hard to find one online.)
Yeah, at present, I only have access to 3 other people that have either version of the game, and I've already talked with 2.
It sucks that I can't search for them until I've seen them.
Also, Zincs and Carbos and stuff like that just give an automatic 10 EVs to whatever stat it's raising. 6 of the Berries take away 10 EVs (there's one for each stat) in case you really have something awesome, but you like used it on your main team and fucked up it's EVs real bad during the game's story or something. These berries also increase friendship so your Pokemons will love you more. Mr. Gainsborough fucked around with this message on 05-03-2007 at 12:41 PM.
If you really want to EV train a starter, breed a new one. It's not worth the hassle to EV reduce.
100:02 on the game timer. How do I have a job.
Working on the National now... first ones I transferred over were my hatched Vulpix, Torchic, Treeko, a newly-hatched Feebas (I am NOT hunting that sucker down ever AGAIN), a Mudkip, and a Kecleon.. only to learn I still need a Snorlax.
I've had no luck finding a Munchlax, though I will try to get a Ditto next (Route 218, right?) so I can offer better trades.
If someone can offer me a Munchlax for when I get home tonight, tell me what it will cost me.
9 of those are on my Ruby file.
Almost there.
It's the last one I need (outside of evolutions and breeding) before the dex is complete. Mr. Gainsborough fucked around with this message on 05-03-2007 at 08:20 PM.
I caught 'em all, guys.

You can talk to the same person over and over and over again. You just have to leave and re-enter the underground each time.
You have to talk 32 times. Your trainer card will keep count for you.
But you really only need one willing friend, and then you just leave and enter talking to them each time 32 times. AFTER you dumped the odd keystone into the well that is. It wont work if you talk to your friend first and THEN dump a keystone.

Actually, you can use the EV reducing berries pretty safely. Once you've knocked a stat down to Zero EVs, the berries will tell you that they no longer have any effect. I've already fixed both of my shinies' EVs that way.
Yeah, but you're growing and using a metric fuck ton of berries on something so inconsequential. I'd sooner breed a new mon, honestly.
1. Female starters go really quick on the GTS. I traded a newly hatched female Piplup for a Munchlax in like two minutes... I put it on offer, browsed a bit, then clicked the summary option on the first screen, and had Munchlax. (I got tired of getting Wurmples from Honey trees) Hopefully the male Turtwig I put up there will get me a female one.
2. It just occurred to me I can breed Eevees now. I hope my Ditto has good endurance...
3. I was in the Trophy Garden hoping to catch a Minun, but it appears the homeowner and the butler were lying when they said there were Minun.. all I saw was Roselias and Staravias... and one male Pikachu, which I caught offhandedly.. which I learned later, had a Light Ball. So now I have another Pichu, this one with Thunder Wave, Flash, Thunderbolt, and Volt Tackle.
Anyone got Johto starters to trade? I can make Hoenn or Sinnoh starters (should prolly get my Chimchar a few levels first) Or dare I say, Kanto starters? (I only have three badges on my FireRed)
