Fal's upload is pretty slow, so what we're going to do is set up a torrent, he's going to give the EC server high download priority so I get the file pretty quick, then once I get the whole file, I'll just keep seeding it on the torrent.

I'll post a .torrent link once we get it running.

650? Pssh, forget that. I'll go make my own Tribes game, with blackjack, and hookers!

On second thought...forget the blackjack, and to hell with Tribes!

No need to. I'll just have the EC server seed it.

So why do we all need the ISO?

For that matter, what IS an ISO?

The ISO is an image file of Tribes 2, aka the Tribes 2 CD. You can mount it on a virtual drive, or burn it off and use it as you would the original Tribes 2 CD to install and what not.

Oh. It's an unpatched version, eh? I think I still have my Tribes2 CD around somewhere.. which is a shame, since I'm getting the best rates on this torrent.

The single patch doesn't take that long to download. I got it in about 10 minutes of Sierra, and that's pretty long. (91 mb file)

And what are some tracker stats? Getting completely wacky transfer rates here, doesn't even break 1kB/s upload. o.O

2 different iso makers, different CDs, same checksum... Either we're very lucky, or all EverCrest will have faulty ISOs by tomorrow.

So, speaking those of us with our legitimately purchased T2 CDs, will our legitimate keys work for an EC T2 server?

I heard (or read) murmurings of a Tribes-based nature, yes... but not the specifics.

As for Tribes 2, when it came out, I was still using the V5, which had major troubles with Tribes 2, and then it was supplanted by EQ for me.

Oh yeah, I pretty much sucked at it... I could never get the hang of the timing, even with DSL and the GF2 Ti I had last time I played T2.

Would still be nice to play again... even if I can't aim the spinfusor to save my life... I did have some fun playing stealth... nothing sweeter than a backstab on a heavy. I either did that, deployed remote equipment, or picked up a vehicle and flew it badly.

Whoever makes Tribes made a deal with Fileplanet to release Tribes 2 for free over Fileplanet. That paged Drysart linked to in the first post takes you to the Fileplanet page to get the CD key. I'm not sure if the game is up for download yet or not, but it's free now.

Considering the first time I played T2, I was pretty decent, then dropped it for a month, reinstalled and found out I sucked major ass, I'm going to play through the single player stuff over and over and get re-l33ted.

I installed from the CD (Well, MY CD. Not the ISO), got the full patch from sierra (Although it took me through about five links to find the fucker, I got it), and booted up the training missions.

The tutorial voice just looped. As in, it'd play the first voice file ("Stay alert for blood patrols"), then loop it.. over.. and over.. And would only change when I would trigger a new "set".

If/when everybody gets patched and ready, lemme know if you have this problem. It's bothering me.

On the upside, I get no frameloss, even at full clip and zoomed in on a missle's smoke trail.
