Liked my generator defense setup in Katabatic?
Shocklance, ELF, Spinfusor, Flares, Normal Mines.
But I still rock Batty's ass on occasion with that Spinfusor when he finds me, or I miss with the 'lance.
It's not something people hear about.

Apparently the Tribes 2 dedicated server really sucks and crashes a lot. Not much I can do about that.
I mean, wouldn't it be great spending your time making a base of epic proportions rather then being frustrated at that uber d00d raping your base and flag?
But, of course, Delphi's law states that any time a mod for any game online is suggested by Delphi, it is immediately and vehemently opposed. :/

We're pretty evenly matched usually it seems. You know what you're doing generally but you're on icky 56k, and I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing half the time but can actually shoot where I want to. Either way, you're still my favorite person to shoot.

Classic is boring, thanks for your well thought out input, though.
Classic is boring but every other mod in existence is horribly unbalanced.
Shifter is probably the best balanced but even it is pretty lame.
First thing I do is drop an inv station for when Artt comes in and blows our generators.
Then I drop landspike and clamp turrets, and mine the flag while I'm at it.
Then, if we get under attack, I grab heavy armor and a repair gun and try to fight off the defenders. If we're not under attack, I'll deploy a couple sensors.
And if someone blows the generators, I toss a mortar or two around the room. I've killed two stealthers that way (I forget who exactly ). Well, killed 1. The second one saw the mortar, bolted, and was gunned down by plasma
I don't know if this is a good strategy, or a bad one... so far it seems to work fairly well, though if you have a suggestion or two on how I should improve, I'm all ears Khyron fucked around with this message on 04-25-2004 at 12:40 PM.
Scout - Stealth
Shocklance
Elf Projector
Plasma
It's pretty good for clearing out bases and getting rid of turrets and what not. Shafted if you get caught though (That's where I'd prefer to have the spinfusor to the Plasma, but oh well)
Turbograv for life.
Scout - Energy Pack
Spinfusor
ELF Projector
Chaingun
After playing War2003 with the Ionic Reactor (infinite energy for the jetpack), I simply can't survive without the Energy Pack. If I move up to Assault armor, then I have even less mobility. I'm just really bad at classic.

I love them. They make air battles so much more... epic.

Randomly shooting in midair for ten minutes before getting hit by a missile from somene else is not epic.

It seems to work for me, since most people don't want to sacrifice their packs for an ionic reactor. I just like to nail heavy armors with modified spinfusors.
Anyway, they could at least last like 5 seconds longer. Something. Christ, even without an Ionic reactor the jetpacks last longer and do more in other mods. :/
edit: I do disapprove of the way that assault and juggernaut armors are able to move just as fast as scout armors in war2003... Kegwen fucked around with this message on 04-25-2004 at 10:05 PM.

I seem to remember a lot of maps that were just fun.. Race maps, etc.
I remember one of those race maps where there was a hole near one of the bases, and we were seeing who could make a thundersword go under it and stuff. That was awesome.

Well, the 'classic' standard of 'high' is jackshit compared to war2003. I guess that's why it seems like nothing to me after playing mods.

Drysart dislikes installing mods on already unstable game servers.
Mods really don't compromise stability. Most of them are just a modified set of variables written out in plain old .txt files.
I suggest Shifter since it's not a hideously imbalanced "ultra mod" like war2003 is.

Seems very noob un-friendly.
I mean, binding extra keys.. assloads of extra stuff (FIFTY WEAPONS? I have trouble chosing from the limited selection as-is!), and stuff makes for fun large games (Where 10 people can go on base defense and the other 22 can actually attack), but not where it would take almost the entire map for one or two people to set up a defense..
Holy shit those bastards have changed a lot in three years...

With alternate fires.
And different mines.
And poisons.. and classes.. and alternate fire to weapons (How does THAT work? Oh, another key to bind. I like mouse2 for alt-fire in most games, but T2 has me jetpacking with it), and lots of crazy deployable crap.
