Anyways.

I wasn't looking for an excuse to tell the cops to 'shove it'. I respect cops and everything, which is why I wanted to avoid any run in with them. I just wanted to know my rights. Apparently, it's within my rights somehow that I can get away from the house without my parents permission, and not having the cops come and intervene. I was pretty sure of it to begin with, anyways.

Secondly, putting it that my parents 'own me' is a sure-fire way to get me to vent-off a little. I'm not a possession, I'm a person.... Soooo...

When I vented out 'Fuck parents, I'll do it anyway' I was angry. I sometimes say things I don't mean when I'm angry. I'm only human, and I'm not sorry for it.

Second, a thread on the top half of the first page is hardly dead, and needed a rez.

Your professed decision was that you would leave whenever you felt like it, and the understood underwriter is that you'd more or less come home when you felt like it, and would continue to do so as long as you felt like it, and would in fact only cease if you grew up or otherwise decided to stop.

That sounds like a pretty childish point of view for someone who seems to think that "almost" is the same thing as "am now". So if you feel confined or aren't having fun, you'll go. That's fine. Immature, but fine.

At no time did Vern say that you wouldn't change. Just that it's not a good idea to think that the operative philosophy on the matter that you are a proponent of is constructive or productive for healthy relationships.

Such as pissing your parents off to the point that you realistically think they may call the cops to drag you home. I pissed off my parents a lot when I was a teenager, but the only time the cops got involved was when I broke the law. Pushing one's parents to the fury point that they may call in the police is inadviseable.

And the attitude that you can hold them over the barrel of "Hey call the cops, they can't make me come home and neither can you, parents" is a pretty bratty attitude no matter how you slice the pie, overreaction or not. And unfortunately, the message board IS public, and expecting that no one is going to say something about it is pretty stupid thinking.

And I'm sorry, but this post was nothing more than an "Em wants attention thread." From the very first post it was nothing revealing or showing any underlying issues. In fact it was written to be so vague as to almost appear to purposely, which it probably was, lead the reader to beleive there were some very real issues and that Em was choosing to leave for good (Or at least an extended period), not just a 'night out to blow off some steam' followed up by other posts of more vagues such as the 'fuck parents' ones.

Sure we all got fed up with our parents as kids, and left for a few hours or whatnot, but I seriously don't think anyone would publically, for one take the time to, announce the intent under the veil of a "Legal question". So I tend to follow Deth's immaturity line of thought.

Sorry, I see this as nothing more than a typical Em, chain jerking, attention post. So I tend to agree more with "Kids these days" comments. These posts are getting rather old.

Go parent your own children.
