Grammar is your enemy! - While being able to understand someone's sentences might seem like a good idea for a proper essay, complaining on a forum scarcely leaves time for such trivialities. Write fast! You're angry, grrr! Make that show, and forget about things like capital letters, punctuation, and verbs.

The second you see the video of it breaking up, you have to realize there's close to no chance of survival..

Im not up to date on how a Space Shuttle works, but jesus, at the speed they're going, and the obvious loss of controls, well, I kinda put two and two together.

Well, the shuttle is equipped with a bail-out system they put in after the Challenger, but the world's highest freefall was 115,000 ft AGL and at no forward speed. They would be just as dead if they tried to bail at 1000 mph as 12,500. Sad as it is, about the only left is to look for pieces and try to puzzle out what went wrong.

Not good.

In addition to feeling sorry for the astronauts, I wonder what political problems this will cause for NASA.

A number of congresmen were already seeking for NASA funding to be drastically cut.

This might just be the clincher for that.

This really sucks. Of all the things our goverment does, Nasa is one of few I support. Losing the shuttle was bad, and losing the crew was by far worse. I wish for only the best for the families of the crew, as well as any in the area of the debris.

Eh, it's not really that stupid. Terrorists groups have been known to use hand held SAMs to shoot down airplanes.(I think an Air Force transport was shot down in Afghanistan like that, even, though I may be thinking of somewhere else) To most of the Terrorist groups if America is the Great Satan, then Israel is it's right hand Demon. That shuttle would have been a prime target to use their known SAM attack on, seeing as it was highly publized in both America and Israel, as it was the first ever Israeli to go into space and the future of their Space Program pretty much rested on it.

And I think she's exagerating a little, or turned off the TV before they actually finished that discussion.

The only one I saw was some guy, I don't watch the Today Show so I don't know his game, asking some guest about the possibilities of Terrorism. To which all he said was it was thought of when it happened, but it was deemed too high in the air to be attacked by any sort of missle(plus the tape didn't show any contrails), and any sort of sabotage would have shown itself long before then. And then they moved on to other things and didn't mention it again.

You smell that? Do you smell that? ...Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory.

A terrorist connection isn't inconceivable, given the mission's nature, but I think it's highly doubtful.

Still, that hasn't stopped a portion of Baghdad's citizens from dancing in the streets.

Once more into the breach, my friends, once more. We'll close the wall with our dead. In peace, nothing so becomes a man as modesty and humility, but when the blast of war blows in our ears, then imitate the action of the tiger, summon up the blood, disguise fair nature with rage and lend the eye a terrible aspect.

Uh, the shuttle was 200k feet up. 35 or so MILES. SAMs cannot go that far, and definetly not handheld versions. We can safely say if it was a terrorist act, it was something already on the shuttle.

However, back in 1986 when the Challenger blew up, was the terrorist issued raised almost immediately after the occurence?

I just think even bringing up questions like that before there's even been an investigation is just feeding this paranoia that has been rampant since 9/11.
