Faelynn LeAndris's fortune cookie read:
Colonists themselves, and defenses ON the planet use energy as well. But only the main planet supplies sector defenses
There is no such notion as a "main" planet. The planet with the most energy at tick time feeds the sector defenses.
Colonists only consume organics.
And, maintenance-wise, defenses on planets don't use energy. Only the beams and shields'll need it, in case of an attack.
Source code is a wonderful thing
I have a couple planets at 15% just so I don't have to seek out an organics port when it's planet making time.

Delphi Aegis was listening to Cher while typing:
For the record: if you stop producing organics, your colonists dont die. I dont think you can "grow" new ones, though.
As I put it to Arrenn yesterday, famine is a real turnoff.
Now, I could blow you right out of the sky and stuff.. but... That'd be really mean, and stuff. So just remove the offensive mines, and we can call it even, k?
Is the only way to raise your postive score, fast, by space combat with "bad" guys/gals?
Also if I have scanned your planet...it was just because I am curious...not going offensive on anyone for awhile, if at all. I am seeing why I was never very good at TW2002 10 years ago.

This is broken in the EC version. I promise you. Colonists do not use organics at all, in fact you can take production down to absolute zero and the organics level on your planet will not change.
Also Enegery consumption is broken or not working as intended either, only your main planet. (First one made or captured in the sector) will provide energy to sector defenses. Even if the others have more engery, if there is not enough on the first planet come tick time, your sector defences will reduce.

mighty... your so called "safe" zone blew me up
Well, it worked... I stayed perfectly safe!
Kidding... I put mines and fighters in some secotrs to discourage people scanning my planets... no ship-to-ship combat is allowed in my sectors...
Caanis has his planets too heavily fortified - barely, for now. Alleria and Piper were not so lucky.

What do you define as 'too heavily fortified'?
Drysart's "Fixing" the server... you just had to attack Piper, didn't ya?
Humor disclaimer.

Organics production is fubared. A planet can't even make any even at 100% organics.
Good thing the colonists needing organics to live is fubared too... lol
Worked for me - even at 11 percent my planets were making organics.
Still under maintenance, though...

To start off with, I need a man and a woman in reference poses; either naked or in loincloths. The idea being that drawings of pieces of armor and equipment can be overlaid on top of them.

Cap'n Elethi painfully thought these words up:
What do you define as 'too heavily fortified'?
He had about 400k fighters/torps plus shields and beams on each. That's pretty much equal to what my ship has, so I didn't want to risk it.

Will try and have you something by tonight.

The server is back up, surprisingly. Sux tho, Dabu took all five of Alleria's planets, then restricted trade along my main traderoute...
At least the mines are gone.

How do you own a sector? I thought you had to have like 3 planets?
Three planets with bases, that is.

cool thanks
are sector fighters worth it? [ 08-22-2002: Message edited by: Caanis Lupus ]

Yeah my craptastic planets are not worth defending...
As I was doing them I realized, I didnt know if you wanted me to keep them flat or if you wanted them detailed, so I stopped until I found out.
Example. Linking because although they are not technically nude, since they are not completely anatomically correct, I'm linking them just to be safe.

Buffed and pissed off...nice.
No. ATM. Fees.

Caanis Lupus probably says this to all the girls:
I have thrown up what partly half assed defence I can for my main sector base. If it gets smashed...oh well. How much energy should one have for planet shielding/cannons anyway?are sector fighters worth it?
I've got about 5 million fighters and 3 million torps on the planets in my primary sector, then about 10-30 million energy on each of them while always producing more of everything (my planets don't currently produce credits)
I don't have those kinda resources since the first 5k turns or so I was relearning VERY SLOWLY how to play this type of game and still not very good at it. But the sectors I have will put a dent in someone and not for much gain since I have crap for resources...
