You're also safe in Confederation of Mightion sectors, where attacking ships is not allowed, and where attacking my planets is costly.

Just make sure your engines can realspace you out of them.

I'm still learning, though, so I'm keeping my ATL within Fed Space limits till I have the hang of things.

There's a feature I'd like to see in this game though. The ability to see what percent of the whole you own.

You have (your colonists)/(total colonists) percentage of the galaxy.

How aren't they working? Do you have colonists on them? Did you change the production values to what you want?

By the way, it takes a ton of colonists to get anything done, like 25 mil or so.

Anyone know how BNT decides how much of the energy cost for fighters on sector defense is split between the planets in a sector?

I have a sector with three 3 mill+ planets with 75, 65, and 80 percent to energy production... two planets gain energy each turn now, but one loses it....

Only the first planet you created/captured, maintains the energy for sector defences.

It is not split between them. Once energy on the first planet drops, your fighters support drops.

That can't be. Consider this; three planets in the sector before I placed any fighters:

Tick 1:
182,760 energy on planet 1
302,313 on planet 2
200,377 on planet 3

Tick 2:
180,239 on 1
285,578 on 2
199,927 on 3

All three are dropping.

Whenever I name it, though, it says it works, but my planet still comes up unnamed!
