i've got some credits, found you parked in <sector removed>. your ship is looking kind of sickly, if you need some help getting back on your feet, i can't do very much until i get more turns anyway.

My ship is, in fact, very sickly, and I don't have a home base anymore. I have alot of rebuilding to do...
So much to do, so few turns...

check your bank account, and your messages.
by the way, the link i mentioned is one-way. your engines look good enough to do a RS, but i'd rather be sure. [ 08-17-2002: Message edited by: hard technology rock ]
...My bank account's another story altogether, though!
That'll definitely help me get up and running!
right now I have 14 hull, and I make ~500k per trade..
now, just try to stay alive.
It's nice to know there are still SOME benevolent people in the universe. I shall do my best to recover.
i haven't got much to offer, but so long as you're there, my space might as well be yours.

You are most welcome in my alliance! The invite is sent. Glad to have you aboard.

Thats decent. Dont use the sector 3/76 route, though. That one's so bloody degraded its not funny. You dont notice degredation much below hull 17.. but when you're pulling in 10-15 mil/route, it goes down fast. Fifty repeats and yer done, really.
Best to have two or more out of the way routes once you get your engines up.

Hmmm... at hull 19, my personal trade routes pull in about 5.2 mil. The new one I just made to test pulls in 5.3.
Guess they don't degrade much if only one person uses them...

Hey, Drysart, one quick recommendation for the Fantasy version of the game you're working with.Systems, or the equivilent to systems, need some sort of feature to keep players above certain levels (Tech, spells, attributes, whatever ) out of them. Conquest is a very good game, but the players with lower tech levels and cash are completely at the mercy of the higher leveled people. Until there's some way to protect the players, the game is horribly unbalanced. Let's face it, there's a lot of simple griefing going on right now.
Just my two cents.
I tend to agree with this. It's a big galaxy out there, I'll admit. Lots of zones to hide in, but I've been buzzing around like a fruit fly and it took Arrenn to tell me last night where another Special port was when I miscalculated my tech level and accidentally notched myself to an average TL around 8.4.
I then ran around the universe making trades when I felt bold, waiting every day to log in and discover that someone had annihilated my ship. I don't have any planets yet, I paid a toll to Lashanna and still got plowed by her ambient mine field (thank god I'd stocked up on mine deflectors before sector 0 stopped doing business with me), and several times I bumped into sectors where I got a warning that entering would involve paying a toll or fighting (or raising my cloak and praying, pretty much).
And now I hear Arrenn and Zephyer, people in my alliance (Zeph, Arrenn invited me in last night, which I accepted, and said I could land my ship on the alliance planet...I'm glad I didn't. I'll help rebuild, though, of course) got blasted to smithereens by someone and their planets were taken. Look at the point scores for Zeph and Arrenn. Look at the point score for me.
I have been and continue to be running scared through the universe. I don't camp every single tick of the clock and I really don't think I should have to if I want to survive. I check in once, maybe twice a day (once three times). It's a fun game and I love it dearly...but I have to agree with Mooj in that there should be expanded protection for casual and newb players if you're going to step up the rate of ticks so that it's not "Everyone gets X number of Ticks, refilled at X hour of the day". If I die on those terms, it's cool. Not everyone wants to or is able to camp the game in order to enjoy it.
Also, and I know you have better things to do with your time than code in things for this game, especially if you're working on a fantasy rewrite, but there needs to be stiffer penalties for pirates. I haven't been a victim yet of course, and truly I bear no ill will to Bajah or Suchii or any of the NPU, but grief playing is grief playing. Just because there's nothing in the rules to make it realistic doesn't make it right.
I *COULD* avoid Suchii and Bajah's sectors. But I'd end up Long-Range-Scanning every single sector in the game. At which point I've blown all my moves for the day, have made zippo money, and haven't upgraded my ship. The fact that they don't venture far from their territory doesn't comfort me if I accidentally blunder into it while blindly stumbling around.
Or maybe I'm just whining and worrying over nothing.

Big Honkin' Essay.
Stick near trade routes in federation space, you can't be attacked in a Federation controlled sector.
Finding a place to log out is a completely different matter, but I'd advise making an empty planet and landing on it to log. No one fucks with an empty planet, it's a waste of resources (especially a Genesis torp to destroy it).
FULL scan uses 1 turn. 'Scan' only scans 1 warp link from a sector. Full scan scans them all.
Moral of the story? Scanning each link may be slower and more annoying than scanning everything all at once, but it's also much safer.
Also, the biggest reason that people join alliances is for mutual protection. If you're in an alliance, I would recommend having all three of you in one sector. That way all three can help guard it. You may still have troubles with three low-scorers all at once, but it'll be three times as good as one person solo.
BTW, there are 'deterrants' for people attacking obscenely low scorers. The whole 'federation bounty' system is supposed to be what prevents people like Khrynn (Me) from attacking people like you.
The bounties just aren't severe enough.

The NPU didnt. They took them before they joined the NPU. Otherwise, Bajah would've smackethed them down or summat.
Replacement. I was not informed, and I like blowing things up.

Then again, it's impossible for a bank to be conquered and looted...
(Genesis torps are neat! They install an ATM terminal too! Boy, that one on each planet must get crowded...)
