Consider that.
Oh, and for those that are curious about my ship, all I will say is 17.14.
A reckless, impatient part of me wants to see how it does in combat, but it's not my nature to attack unprovoked.
Ah, the benefits of staying neutral and building up a (x) planet empire....

after i took 3 of his big planets
(nothing personal mooj, just a pirate's work)
Systems, or the equivilent to systems, need some sort of feature to keep players above certain levels (Tech, spells, attributes, whatever ) out of them. Conquest is a very good game, but the players with lower tech levels and cash are completely at the mercy of the higher leveled people. Until there's some way to protect the players, the game is horribly unbalanced. Let's face it, there's a lot of simple griefing going on right now.
Just my two cents.

Hate to say it, Boo, but that's exactly what I'm talking about in my previous post. Roleplaying a thief (Or a pirate, in this case) does not give you the right to attack or steal at your whim until there's some sort of police feature added to the game that works and works reasonably well.
No ill will against you or anything, but I don't see games where such griefing is so easy to be something I should play. Enjoy the planets, they should be very good resource worlds for you.
Oh, and check your messages.

yeah, there is a police system. Its called bounties.
with a fed bounty, you cant trade a special ports, so all fighters and torps have to come from planets, and one cant upgrade or replace armor at all.

And that would work well, except for the fact that once someone has such a high level ship, they can go around taking planets and have no need to upgrade further. Need fighters? Grab some from someone else's planet.
Or in the case of some people, have someone who doesn't have a bounty on them pick up all the fighters and torps you need, and leave them on one of your planets for you.
Drive through and please have a better arguement ready if you should refute this.

Taking fighters from other planets is nigh impossible, because you have to destroy them all to take em anyways. Taking planets can take a heavy toll on fighters, and replenishing can leave a system defenceless. The big issue however, is armor. There is NO way to replace it unless you pay off the bounty.
The real problem is that this should NOT be possible. The maximum amount of fighters/torps on a planet should be proportional to your Computer/Torp tech levels to make it more fair. Once a person transfers a few ship loads of fighters/torps to their planet, it CANNOT be attacked without the attacker dying.

nem-x had this to say about Cuba:
First of all, I think that low tech'd players can still defend very well against high tech'd people. You can shuttle an infinite amount of fighters/torps to your planet and make it untouchable. 500k should be enough to deter any would-be attacker. The real problem is that this should NOT be possible. I think Nem was disapointed when he scanned my planet at first, saw it had like 20k fighters/torps, then came back to destroy it to find out I had quadrupled defences.. Hehe.
Or it could be a serious discrepency. Either way, umm.. Shit. I dunno. This post has no point.
And I started a BNT page. I'll be putting up all the general information tomorrow, then I'll put like a... strategy page or something.
Looking at the stats, I'd have to have at least 20 million fighters/torps before I could be safe to the point that nobody save someone with billions upon trillions of dollars with upgrades reaching into the higher 30s would dare attack me. But by the time someone gets that high, I'd have double that anyway.

And this system is easily abused as well, and is being abused as it is.

Parts I Understand:
Making money
Upgrading my ship
Getting interest at the bank
Getting kicked out of Federation space
Avoiding sectors with bad things
Collecting energy by RS travel
Parts I really don't get:
Planets
Bases
Attacking people
I can't seem to make my planets start doing anything - does this require a base?
Or in the words of my favorite Gladiator character - "Those giraffes you sold me... they won't breed. You sold me queer giraffes."
And what's the difference between buying armour on the bottom of the Special Ports and buying it with other level based upgrades?
Do you get anything useful for attacking others?
Whats the end goal of the game? Being rich?

Planets require colonists to do anything at all. Colonise to 25 million people. Their natural instincts will fill the remaining room. ("On my signal, fuck!") A base is required to fire torpedos from the planet, to cut the commodity limits, and also to control the sector. a base on 3 planets in one sector controls the sector. Attacking people and their planets gets you (if you win) some of their stuff, and knocks them back a fair bit. The armour at the bottom are the armour points. The tech determines how much of something you can buy. The general goal is getting as high up the ladder you can.
To get colonists to produce money, make their productions under 100%. the remainding percentage will make money.

You need a base and colonists for your planets to really do anything.
The armour upgrade is how much armour you can have. You still have to purchase armour points.
There may be something to gain from attacking others, but I'm just too good to resort to petty piracy.
You're close. The point is to be rich, and not get killed doing it.
