Darn, I was feeling so good after collecting the 1 billion credits that had built up on my planets overnight, combined with the profit of doing my trade route over sixty times...
Oh well, at least my ship and planets have those l33t graphics, now.

Eh, don't worry too much. Part of Delphi's big problem was he tried to go solo and didn't get into an alliance. Had he gone G3, I would have been forced to NOT attack him due to the fact that me'n Ferrel already talked about my attacks versus G3 members

Isn't it sad, though, whenever a player excels at a game, the other players instantly start going 'U must not have a life outside of this game, I bet you play it 24/7 and don't stop! loser!' and similar sentiments.
People said it to me when I played CS, I see people saying it to level 60 players in EQ, and now Delphi says it to me here
God, playing this game 24/7 would be dull. It'd involve a veritable fuckload of sitting there being bored while you wait for the timer to count down.

That's because I'm one of our traders. See, once I start raking in enough interest, I'll pump money into our fighters. omg specialization omg. Working up individual ships isn't worth it, because you can't attack in groups.
Your logic would apply if I just "wanted to trade around and get interest off my planets". But this is not so.

I DID own one of yours, at one point in time, but then I destroyed it because it's too much of a hassle to have planets spread all over the place. I could have left it as a picket planet, but then I'd have had to shuttle all the colonists off of it, which uses too many turns

Someone mouths off, then two days later BAM! they're smoking craters and debris fields, then everywhere you go is picket planets.
Whining about dying sucks too. It's not about waving who has the biggest wang. I mean look at Suchii. She's not an asshole. No really. Suchii the person isn't an asshole. Suchii the gamer isn't an asshole. Okay she's a pirate. Okay she takes stuff other people build. Whoopee. There's ways to protect your investment. My only worry was that she'd go around picking off wussy little ATL 8.5 me when I was new.

If you're smart, you're tucking away money. I was very worried for a long time I'd get killed before I got to fly my ship and make a planet, just to see what I could do. But sweet jebus you have to be a dolt not to occasionally bank some money, right? Putting something aside for a rainy day? If you can make it up in a day's time by flying your trade route 200 times or something, then how far set back are you? How foolish do you have to be to not have stuck your stuff in the bank? If your ship IS wiped out, you have tasty money to work with.
I'm fairly certain if one of us was going around smacking around little 8.0's or lower for grief reasons (IE just to be a shit), we'd have heard about it by now. But that doesn't seem to be the case. Does it.
One of my favorite quotes fits here: "Don't stick your nose where someone can pull it off and eat it". Don't talk big and swagger if you aren't ready for someone to smack you around.
Board vendettas shouldn't be played out. On the other hand, it's the perfect chance to smack someone you don't like. So while it shouldn't happen, sometimes it does.
But in any case...don't WHINE about it. Cripes. If you're in an alliance, tell someone. If you have friends, tell them. But don't whine here. It doesn't accomplish anything. Pick up and move on, or quit and don't come back. Or quit for a while til you get your sense of humor (and perspective) back. If I got blasted, I wouldn't whine; I might take a few days off before coming back, but that's it.
It really is a fun way to kill a little time.
