Well, The Pocket Thread got me thinking... And I was wondering, do you regret losing your virginity, if you have, and if you have not, are you anxious to do so?

Personally, I'm mildly regretful, because I did it for the wrong reasons. I convinced myself that sex was nothing more than physical pleasure, and I jumped headfirst without another thought. It was enjoyable at the time, and I only started to regret it later, because I did not really love the girl, but rather we only liked eachother. The thing is, I'm not sure if I would change anything if I had the chance.

Please try to keep this thread at least a little mature, I thnk that most of us CAN behave like adults if we choose to, and this is a topic that deserves mature discussion rather than just comic remarks and the like.

So: Do you regret your first?

Bite me.

No, Really. Bite me.

Im 21 years old, and a virgin.

And I will be one until the day I get married. Im not planning to have sex until I can take care of a child, because there is no guarantee that one wont come out of having sex, no matter how much protection you use

I would love to lose it, but at the same time I don't want to look back at my first time and go "Good god, what in the HELL were you thinking!?"

That's probably the most sobet thing I've heard all day, but I'm not that strong or logical. Sadly though, most people just want to get their rocks off, without giving too much thought to the consequences.

I applaud your forethought and resolve.

I've never really cared much for my viginity. I always thought to value it was a religious thing more than anything. I understand it's not that way for everyone and I believe nobody should be pressured into it, neither male nor female.

No regrets, only one or two bad experiences.

Haven't yet. Don't plan to in simple circumstances. I prefer to wait until I am sure I can handle, emotionally and financially, any outcomes which may arrive from the decision to do so. After all, the only way to be 100% certain is to be prepared for every possible occurrence.

*Shrug.* I tend to consider it a precautionary measure more than anything. I've come too close to a similar situation to not pay attention to that.

I would hope so, but it's not likely. The concept of "males being raped" is so foreign to most people, they laugh at the idea. Though it is far less rare than you'd think.

No I don't regret losing it. I don't place any emotional importance on "the first time" but I do deem it important to have sex with someone you deeply care about and not just for kicks.

top 2 reasons why I have kept mine:

1. Person was drunk or stoned.. Generally I consider having sex with someone drunk or stoned about the same as rape even if the other person is wanting, cause they probably are not aware what they are doing.

2. The person is well rather unhinged. Sorry I like to keep crazy people away from me--- former coworker was emotionally unbalanced and leapt from on "relationship" to another, relationship is in quotes cause sleeping with someone for 2 weeks does not make a relationship, completely blew her mind someone would turn her down, O well she later went on to sleep with the butcher and produce guys both over 50 years old (she is the same age as me) and rumor always had it she was shacking up with the chick in produce.

Never saw virginity as something important, really.

If I lose it, I hope it's to someone I spend the rest of my life with, but if not, it's not going to ruin my life or anything.

I think the key is to "get your rocks off" in the appropriate manner beforehand, so the urge isn't there as often.

Eh. I dislike these kinds of topics.

While 'WTF was I thinking?' does describe it pretty accurately, I still don't regret it, I'd rather get the practice at 18 than at 30 or whatever.
Life... is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable, because all you get back is another box of chocolates. You're stuck with this undefinable whipped-mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there's nothing else left to eat. Sure, once in a while, there's a peanut butter cup, or an English toffee. But they're gone too fast, the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits, filled with hardened jelly and teeth-crunching nuts, and if you're desperate enough to eat those, all you've got left is a... is an empty box... filled with useless, brown paper wrappers.

I do not regret losing it or who I lost it to. However I feel that her and I should have waited longer in our relationship. We were young and stupid. We copuld have had a longer relationship if we would have moved slower early on.

Maybe in five-ten years I'll regret losing it at the age I did (and maybe even regret the person I lost it to, who knows), but probably not. I just don't care enough.

Virginity is overrated. I can understand Fal perfectly, though (whoa).

Of course not.

I've never subscribed to the idea that if it feels good you shouldn't do it. When you're a virgin, you view sex entirely differently than you do afterwards. I wondered, "Whoa. Why did I think sex was the end-all, be-all of human existence?" Yes, sex is important. But your first time isn't the best time. You have little to no idea what you're doing. It's certainly not very enjoyable. It's more about experience than anything else. I don't regret waiting until I had been dating my girlfriend for a year, I don't regret the circumstances under which it occured, and I don't regret how it's changed our relationship. In fact, the new dynamic in introduced (as well as the one it got rid of) has made our relationship so, soooo much better.

I think the ultimate point is that you should bust your cherry on your own terms. Do it when you're ready, willing, and able, and the other party feels the same way. It's only as important as you make it.

And remember, trim the verge!
