Have there been any changes since.. oh.. a year ago? I know Burning Crusades is coming, but has anything big changed for people who dont live in the game? I never got past level 40, so all that endgame crap is pointless for me.
That said, I don't think there's any concentration of EC people in this game anymore. I don't really keep up, though, because I'm happy in my goon guild on Maelstrom

It wasn't me, my friend.
I mean, I'll vote it down now, but it was probably Gains exercising his civil liberties or one of the other people that don't find your company all that enjoyable.
I don't really mind you all that much, but I am nothing if not civic-minded.
To answer your question, though: no, not much has changed except the end-game, since there are a few more dungeons around. Mid-game is much the same and PvP hasn't changed all that much.
I don't really play anymore since I don't like raiding. The only real gathering of friends is Vorago, Tegadil and company. I won't divulge the server name (if they don't mind you, they'll provide their information for themselves). They're very good guys, though. If they do decide to reveal themselves, be sure to ask Tegadil about his Rocket Orc costume. Mr. Parcelan fucked around with this message on 11-07-2006 at 02:12 AM.

No idea how it happened, but Naimah and I somehow wound up in the same guild on the same server with no planning on our parts. Small digital-world, huh?
Raiding guild on Gilneas fell apart, wasn't the same crew I joined up with so I abandoned the epic rogue to play a kick-toy mage with meat-space friends.
Maybe when BC comes out I'll go back to raiding.

Story time:
I was just a spectator to this story, honestly. I was on my hunter alt, looking for a group for Deadmines. A really nice bow drops in Wailing Caverns for that level range, but Alliance never does WC. I saw that there was a druid advertising that he was paying to be ran through WC from a higher level. I figured this was my chance, and asked if I could tag along, and so I did. He eventually found a 60 Rogue to run us through.
While we were going through the instance, at some point the Rogue mentions something about delivering pizza to some guys who played on the same server. At this point, the Druid reveals who his main character is (the leader of a raiding guild), and mentions that some people in his guild had ordered pizza during a raid or group or something and commented to the guild how the pizza delivery guy played on the same server. So this random 60 Rogue he got to run his alt through WC just happened to be played by the same guy that delivers pizza to his guildmates, and of course they're all on the same server.

Batty and I played the same MUD together like ten years ago. We lost contact with each other and then one day we both pop up here and I was like, "dude, are you the same BATUSIZS that played that game?" and he was like "ya y" and I was like "dude wtf lol hi"

I was playing a Shaman alt in EQ back in the day. I was in a group in Unrest and the group got to talking. It was a complete pick up group. Nobody knew each other at all. And we were all from Las Vegas.

Same thing happened with me and Ferret. I found out he was (basically) in my guild one day. One of the few competent paladins we've ever had, too.
A handful of my friends in the city and closeby areas play on Bloodhoof, and I'm enjoying it. It's PvE though...so if you're interested in PvP, you'll want to look elsewhere.

I was part of the EC crowd on Zul'Jin for quite a while. Then I left to become part of the PA massive on Dark Iron. Which I left as well.
I really regret stopping on Zul'Jin.
Knowing I was an enchanter in EQ Live and a ranger in EQ2 and I loved both classes, any suggestions on race and class? I thought a gnome or undead might be interesting.

Well, which did you like better, the enchanting part, or the shooting arrows with your ranger part?
Why can't humans be hunters, btw?
Yes, I'm partial to warlocks. But they have pets, some crowd control (in Banish for Demons/Elementals) and DoTs and are an overall pretty self-succificnet class that also provides value in a group setting.

They don't have the proper bond with nature (a la Tauren or Elves) and haven't been forced to eke out a living in a harsh environment (a la Orcs and Dwarves) and it's just not in their blood (a la Trolls).

Ok.
Also, what's a good build for leveling a warlock? Since CoX has gotten kinda boring, I've reinstalled WoW, and a caster class sounds like fun.

Closest thing to Ranger is Hunter. Think EQ1 Beastlord pet part, mixed with the arrow shooty part of the Ranger class and you have a WoW Hunter.
As for enchanter... closest you're going to get is a Mage. Crowd control in this game is split up amongst many different classes. Mage is more like EQ1/2's Wizard class types though, with the exception of being able to summon food and drink, cast some nice buffs, and have polymorph.

Ranger roughly translates to hunter, although I have no idea what rangers were capable of in EQ2. Hunters are basically tremendous long-range non-magic DPS plus a really nice pet. Best pet in the game by a long shot, actually.
Enchanters have no direct equivalent... but if you enjoy more esoteric skill sets, you will enjoy Shamans and Warlocks.
Shamans are somewhat competent melee, being able to wield 2h weapons with the right talents, and have relatively powerful nuking and buffing abilities, and also AoE snares and other cool effects.
Warlocks hurt things. Heavy on DoT's, respectable on nuking. Icing on the cake is that we also have a fair amount of utility. In a head-on, single-target slug fest our DPS falls greatly behind mages, but we make up for it by being whole worlds lighter on upkeep - with the right spec we can more or less nuke forever, never run out of mana, and never need to be healed.

For a Warlock, I'd say stick your first 5 points into Imp. Corruption, and past that it's up to you. It's difficult to spec a warlock in a way that completely gimps over your character.

I liked both parts. That's the problem. Although I've heard WoW Hunters are what rangers are really all about.
By 20, you get a good feel for most classes and you can get 20 in a few days.
So just try everythang.
Hunter is beyond what an EQ ranger was with a bow. Best pets by far. And even though I never enjoyed a pet class before, I really enjoy the Hunter.
My Shaman is only level 15, but in PVE he's a cloven-hoofed lawnmower. Weapon buffs, better than normal caster melee. Nukes and totems. It's a lot of fun, but I can only stand to stare at the horde lands for so long before I crave lush green foliage.
If you go into the barrens.. leave the general chat.
Now, I go back to my hunter. The ONLY good time to be in barrens with the chats turned on, is when you cant hear those horde weenies. AND, I get to tame me a purple velociraptor. happiness.

Each Warlock tree has a lowest-tier 5-point ability that is an absolute must-have, at least for levelling.

Haha, bullshit. If your thingy is accurate, I can see why you might think this, though. Half a month is PLENTY of time to try out several different classes, or even level one class up to 30 or so. Granted, this is also with experience, but I would easily see Lyinar being able to get a level 22-25 character, with some level 14+ alts if she wanted to in that time period.

Now that there's global LFG chat, sentiments like this are pretty much out-of-date. Now the grime of an entire server's faction is available through one handy channel. You don't even need to be in the same zone!
