Right now the fire is kinda doing an inverted L thing along the 15 and the 52 freeways. I know the fire's about 3 miles away from my house right now, but it's blowing away from Mira Mesa. Death toll last i saw was 7 confirmed deaths with 2 more being investigated.

It appears my family moved at the right time.Just got word that at ton of people from my High School lost their houses this morning, to the fire in Scripps Ranch, in San Diego. Apparently, that's like, one of four fires burning in Southern California...
Good christ, my roommate went home this weekend too, back to San Diego...
This is just nuts....

It's not something people hear about.
So wherever you are now, you're gonna stay there until this is over.
less posty more packy
I was able to look to the sun directly and see the sun spots on it. The main ones that caused yesterdays solar storm we got...
Luckly we all got friends around here. *sighs*
My home finally got it's share of ash an hour ago, it was the last clear place in the county west of the fires. It's orange and brown right now. I just hope my friends over by grossmont college are able to get away.
You can see it on satelite images even...

Seriously though...that sucks. Hope everything goes ok for you EC'ers out there.
My Dad wakes me up this morning and goes come look at this... Out the front door the sun is shining bright red. The sky is black with smoke, and off to the south I could see the header from the South Bay(Southernmost) fire burning away.
Now hes off at the firestation, covering almos the entire Point Loma District, he wont likely be home for 3 or 4 days...
On a brighter note CDF supposedly has *some* of its Air Tankers Flying now, but there just arent enough of em to make any real difference.
You see, we have these fucking Pyro's that wait all year for the Santa Ana winds to come up, then they go and torch some fields... Hope they will throw in some Murder charges if they find out someone lit these intentionally.
One on my PBEM GMs is working near some of those fires. He posted that two highways near his work place had been shut down, but they hadn't evac'ed the building yet. So, they had to keep working, at least till it gets worse.
That was at around noon. I hope I hear from him soon.
This is also the first time I can ever remember San Diego being a disaster area.
All school districts in SD county have cancelled school tommorow and the Chargers game has been canceled too.
Upwards of 200 houses destroyed just in the city of SD area. And that's a very conservative number. [ 10-26-2003: Message edited by: The Dread Pirate Skittles ]
Holy.Shit.
K thx la~

This one time, at Elvish Crack Piper camp:
Not to be unsensitive to people in sandiego, but why are you posting on EC when raging fires are ensueing?
Plus, not all of San Diego has been evacuated...just a growing percentage of it. It's just second nature for a lot of people to talk about something like this...

Umm, I was referring to peple like lego who said they were in sandiego and were evacuating but still had time to post:/
Now they are having flash floods in the same area... Poor people...
Stay safe you guys
Just for reference, SOE is located right between the 805 and the 15 freeways, on the northern edge of the gray area between the freeways on that map. The Santa Ana winds are carrying the fires toward the west.
