Experience : EXP is gained in one of three fields.

Light weapons refers to most small arms and rifles. This means your pistol and your thompson/M40.

Battle Sense raises on its own. It raises faster the longer you stay alive and the better you do in kills vs deaths.

And the third is specialty. This is determined by your class. Here's a list of what to do at each class to gain plenty of EXP.

1) Soldier. Soldiers gain EXP by using heavy weapons. I personally suggest using the panzer, as it's the easiest to get kills with. To use this efficiently, you'll probably need a field op nearby supplying you with ammo and protecting you between shots, but we'll get to that later. Every kill you get gives you EXP, and with the panzer, you'll get the EXP fast.

2) Medic. Medics gain EXP by healing teammates and reviving teammates. The best way to get EXP is to run around with your medkit out, and heal ANYONE you see who isn't full HP. Each time you heal someone you gain 1 point of EXP, and that builds up FAST. Also, a note for EVERYONE : Rather than just tapping out (Hitting jump when you die), wait until the timer runs down low. This way you give the medics a chance to revive you (And thus gain EXP), which saves you the time and trouble of running back from your spawn.

3) Engineer. THE VERY FIRST THING YOU NEED TO DO IS CONSTRUCT A COMMAND CENTER IF IT'S NEARBY. I can't stress how important this is. It boosts the charge speed for yourself and every other teammate, which is absolutely invaluable. Once you've built that (If you can; some maps it can only be built later in the map), you need to build any machine gun nests or barriers, or blow up whatever you need to. The important thing is to use your pliers to gain your first level. Once you hit your first level, start using the rifle grenades. Each kill with the rifle grenades will give you Engineer EXP instead of light weapons exp. It's important to get level 1 first, because it grants you double the amount of rifle grenades.

4) Field ops. These guys are easy to raise, and fucking DEVASTATING at level 4. Now, at first, don't try to raise your skill with airstrikes or artillery, people run from smoke making it hard to get good kills. Instead use your ammo function to gain EXP. A great way to do this is to find a panzer soldier and follow him around, dropping ammo for him all the time. Your EXP will skyrocket. Give it at least 2 levels before you start using the strikes; at level 2 the strikes cost significantly less. Also, don't use airstrikes unless you're standing in or near a HUGE group of people; artillery covers more ground and people run from it less (Artillery is used by hitting 7 to bring up the binocs, alt-fire to use the binocs, then fire to target the spot to bombard).

5) Covert Ops. These guys are easy to raise skill with. Use the sniper rifle or silenced pistol (Or knife from behind) to kill someone. Steal their clothes. If you're wearing clothes, shoot your main gun a few times to lose the disguise, then re-disguise yourself. Every time you steal clothes, you get EXP. Just be sure you won't get jumped while you steal their pants...

High levels of EXP grant you improved abilities (Medics can revive a downed soldier to 100% life, field ops drop MEGA ammo packs which grant 2x ammo per pack, Soldiers can run at full speed with ANY weapon, etc) and a faster charge, which is extremely important to USE those improved abilities. A level 4 field op can call in two airstrikes or an airstrike and an artillery (Or two artilleries) in less than 15 seconds at level 4, making sure ANYTHING he's firing at gets blown away.

I just shoot people in the head and try to revive everyone I can and I do fine. (Here comes the pain)

I blieve it also raises when you use the stored ammo and med kits.

To add a few other random things:

Do not step on the flags you see sitting around, they are land mines. It you step on them, not only will you die, you will also piss some random Engineer off.

To use a weapon other than the Tomson click on the arrow next to in (while choosing your class) and use the menu.

Run from any colored smoke.

Run from any grenade

Don't file TK complaints if the person is somewhat justified in killing you (IE you stepped on their mine, you were running around in an enemy uniform in a fire fight, or you ran into their artilery, etc) you don't make many friends that way.

By the way, battle sense only rises when gunfire is landing around you or when you shoot someone. It rises quicker when both take place.

So in other words, if you're a crazy action hero (or camper), you'll have the highest battle sense.

By the way, the EverCrest Enemy Territory server is up. Enter "evercrest.com" in the connect to IP window, password is "fluffy". We had 10 people on and playing just fine earlier. It hits a bit of server lag every now and then due to other stuff running on the machine, but it's not enough to be annoying.

What's the difference between the covert ops's assassinate and a normal backstab?

BEGINNERS GUIDE PART II - MAPS

This is important. Pay attention. Big stuff here, yaknow?

Note : In some maps, there is 1 command center that EITHER TEAM can control, in others each team has a specific command center that only they can control. I'll tell you which is which.

::: EUROPEAN CAMPAIGN :::

1st : Radar.

Map Goal : Allies Steal both sets of radar parts from the axis base and load them on the truck. Axis defend the radar parts.

The radar parts are next to the two large radar dishes inside the axis base.

There are two entrances to the axis base : The side entrance, and the main entrance. You need an engineer to dynamite either one to get through them.

The truck is outside the main entrance of the axis base.

Spawn Points :

The allies spawn in the house down the road from the main entrance.

The forward bunker is located outside the axis base, and can be controlled by either team. (Axis begin here, but allies usually grab it ASAP)

The axis spawn is inside a large building inside the base.

Command Center :

The command center is located by the side entrance. This command center can be controlled by either team.

Map Notes :

Just outside the allied spawn, the path branches. To the right is the road; it leads straight to the truck, and along the road is a house with supplies in it.

To the left is a path running to the forward bunker. If you continue PAST the entrance to the forward bunker, you reach the side entrance.

The forward bunker has two exits : The first on the path just outside the allied spawn, the other exit is right at the truck.

2nd : Rail Gun

Map Goal : Axis are trying to fire the railgun. To do so, they need to drive the first tug to the depot yard, where the ammo is loaded automatically, then drive the first tug BACK to their spawn, where it's put on the 2nd tug. Then they drive the 2nd tug to the railgun, where the ammo is loaded. Lastly, they fire the rail gun.

Allies try to stop this. They have several ways. First, before the tug can reach the depot yard, they have to RAISE the track switch halfway. The allies spawn near this switch, so raising it then driving the tug through can be difficult, especially since there's a machinegun nearby the allies can use to defend it. The same applies for driving the tug back; the track switch must be raised before the tug can pass. Also, the allies can destroy the railgun controls with dynamite (And, I think, a satchel charge) to prevent the gun being fired, though an engineer can repair them.

Spawn Points :

The allied spawn point is a hut down the tracks from the railgun. A path leads to the track switch and the bunker.

The depot yard has a spawn point as well, which can be controlled by anyone. Nobody spawns there to start.

The axis spawn in a hut near the trainyard where the first and second tugs are.

Command Center :

The only command center is in the bunker in the middle of the map. This one is hard to defend and often is ignored as people can usually fairly easily destroy it.

Map Notes :

There are three entrances to the bunker. One just outside the trainyard, one next to the track switch, and one outside the depot. Inside the bunker is the comm center and some health/ammo packs.

Most of the battle is done at the track switch, as most often the train has to stop there while someone raises it. The allies spawn nearby making it difficult to get past. usually if the tug can get past it twice, once to get the ammo and once returning, the game is usually lost for allies (Usually, not always!).

Don't forget you can destroy the railgun controls. I've seen plenty of games pulled back from the brink of defeat when the allies blew up and defended the railgun controls.

It's also important, as the Axis, not to get backed into their spawn on this map. The allies can spam airstrikes and artillery in the spawn making advancement all but impossible. Watch out for this, and capture the depot if you can, to avoid getting stuck there.

3rd : Fuel Depot

Map Goal : Allies need to transport a tank across a frozen river, through a tunnel, to a fortified axis fuel depot, where they need to destroy the storage tanks.

Axis need to fortify the depot defenses and prevent the depot from being blown to smithereens.

Spawn Points :

Allies spawn in a house across the river.

Axis spawn first in the tunnel bunker, which is captured by allies when the tank breaches the tunnel doors.

Axis Spawn 2nd in the depot itself.

Command Center :

Each team has their own comm center on this map. Only that team can control it. The axis comm center is located on the Tunnel side of the river, in a house further down. The Allied comm center is located in a garage outside the fuel depot.

Map Notes :

This is a tricky map for everyone.

To start, the allies protect the tank until it reaches the bridge. The Axis can blow up the tank to stop it, but the allies can repair it. Once the tank reaches the bridge, it needs to be repaired by an engineer (The bridge that is) TWICE : Once to make the bridge, once to reinforce it. Then the tank drives across, and blows up the tunnel doors. Once through the tunnel, the tank blows up the main entrance to the depot, and one of the side walls.

A lot to do for the allies, usually the hardest part is the bridge. The Axis love to stop the allies here, with airstrikes, artillery, snipers, panzers, and everything they can to keep the allies from building that bridge twice.

There are two ways across the river : One is the main bridge. Also, located almost directly across from the allied spawn is a path leading to the river, where a FOOTBRIDGE can be constructed. This footbridge leads straight to the axis command center, and is a good way to go around the main defensive force at the bridge.

Below the bridge, against the mountain, is a grating. Once destroyed, this grating can lead straight into the tunnel. A sneaky way to win this is to get an engineer into the tunnel, and get a covert op disguised as an enemy in there. Once inside, they can go straight to the depot and blow it up while the enemy is still fighting at the bridge! However, to do this they NEED to have a covert op in disguise, as there is a locked door at the main entrance.

::: NORTH AFRICAN CAMPAIGN :::

1st : Tank Guns

Map Goals : Allies need to infiltrate an Axis base and blow up two Anti-tank guns. Axis need to defend the guns.

Spawn Points :

Allies spawn in a valley outside of the city.

Axis first spawn outside the old city walls. Once the walls are breached, this spawn becomes PERMANENTLY in control of the allies; until then, the spawn can be controlled by either side.

Axis second spawn within their base.

Command Centers :

Each team has their own command centers. The Allied command center is on the 2nd floor of a building near their spawn. The Axis command center is located in a room on the 2nd floor of their base.

Map Notes : First off, there are two caves in the map. Each cave is flooded, so to use them, you need to activate two water pumps. The first pump is located RIGHT AT the allied spawn; the oasis water pump. Draining this leads you into the first cave. This cave deposits you across from the old city spawn point.

The second cave is in the old city; right near where the first cave ended, in the plaza where the spawn point is, is the 2nd water pump. This one leads you to the axis base directly, and can be used to go around the side. The base itself has several entrances that are archways, making it easy to mine them, though groups can pass with only a casualty or two.

Also, this ruined city has tons of places for a sniper or grenadier to hide on a rooftop or 2nd story building. If you can't find someone, look up; they may be above you.

The tank guns are located almost side-by-side at the rear of the base.

2nd : Beachhead

Map Goals : Everyone knows this map. Allies spawn on a beach, and have to storm it. The objective for the allies is to secure the forward bunker, then infiltrate the gun and destroy the controls. The Axis have to hold them off.

Spawn Points :

The Allies have two spawn points on the beach : One on either side.

The Axis first spawn in the forward bunker, then 2nd spawn in the gun building itself.

Command Centers :

The command center in this map is located behind the gun, out the 'back door' as people call it.

Map Notes : First off, the spawn points. Too few people realise that THERE IS A SECOND SPAWN ON THE BEACH. Use it to sneak around behind the gun whenever possible.

Now, one of the biggest tricks for this map is for an allied engineer to go with an allied covert ops IN DISGUISE around back. A disguised covert ops can let the engineer into the base where he can easily blow the controls while they're unguarded. It is for this reason that the Axis should UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES go down onto the beach. Don't let an allied spy get your clothes, fool.

Second, the command center on this map is too hard to defend as axis; I wouldn't recommend going for it. The allies should, though.

If the allies build the ramp at the top of the beach, dynamite can take too long to blow it up; try using a spy's satchel charge instead. Also, if they keep repairing it, have that same spy try throwing the charge on top of the build spot; it's a great trap for the enemy.

If the enemy is at a mounted machine gun emplacement, the best way to kill them is with the panzer rocket launchers, though the engineer's rifle grenades are fantastic as well. Finally, if you can't get an engineer in but you do have a spy, if you bomb the generator (Follow the signs with RED) you can easily slip in the back through the previously-closed blast doors.

The only supply area is inside of the axis base.

3rd : Gold Rush

Map Goals : Allies have to steal a tank, escort it to the bank, steal the gold, then escort the truck out. Axis prevent it.

Spawn Points :

Allies spawn near the truck's escape point.

Axis first spawn in a building near the tank.

Axis second spawn near the bank plaza.

Command Center :

There's only one command center, in the plaza where the tank is.

Map Notes :

Ho boy, this is a hard map for allies. Steal (Repair) the tank, get it down the VERY LONG road to the bank, steal the gold, then finally escort the truck out.

First off, the barriers. There are two tank barriers, and two truck barriers. Axis need to construct all of them. They slow down the tank/truck which makes them vital to stopping the allies before time is up. They also give engineers EXP when building, so why not?

There are two supply zones here. the first supply zone is outside the area where the tank is; ammo and medkits are available there. The second supply zone is past the bank plaza along the truck escape route.

Once the allies have stolen the tank, the Axis lose their first spawn point, but once the tank is on the bridge it's easiest to stop. Make sure you do so. Airstrikes can easily disable it as well as taking out any guards escorting it.

Blow up the truck as soon as they steal the tank, save time. They'll have to repair it before they can escape. You spawn in the plaza, so make sure you stop the tank before it reaches there.

There's no shortcuts this time around; the bank doors HAVE to be blown by the tank. No way around it. Once the doors are blown, grab both gold crates and run like hell. They're inside the bank on the desk.

Straightforward, but difficult map.

I saw a server that had all six maps on a single campaign.

This'd be great for us, because of the smaller team sizes compared to a pub server.. You know, in terms of everyone getting level 4 everything, right?

I've seen Terena and a few others play. Pulling out binocs and shit before the ammo crate.

I would suggest to you that you set the first "special" (Default key of 5) to Q, special 2 (Default key 6) to E, and special 3 (Default 7. How you gonna reach over there, bish?) to a mouse key, or something similar.

Tip: Don't get stuck by yourself with Delphi unless you're a godly FPS player. He consumes confidence.

I just started playing today and this is the first FPS I've played online. Forgive me for not being perfect. The worst part is that I only chose to play on the EC server to avoid people who act like Delphi did tonight. Whining about how much I suck and that he won't play if he has to be partnered with me. Take other people's feelings into consideration before bitching about how things aren't going your way.

Anyway, I don't think I'll be playing anymore. But I had some fun. Thanks to those who tolerated me and Drysart for providing the server that allowed me to enjoy the game somewhat. Memories are good.

Don't mind Delphi. His attitude was always complete shit. It doesn't matter what game it is, he just does nothing but bitch, whine, complain, and try to spam off insults when he's losing.

I remember when I put up that Battlefield 1942 server and he did nothing but spam out how GAY things were and how I was a FAG because we were beating the pants off of him. It got so bad I got 10 different people complaining to me before I told him 'Listen, Delphi, shut up or I permaban you from my Battlefield server'.

Don't quit just because he's a fucktard. You're definitely not a bad player, and I personally wouldn't mind being partnered with you. You did good when I was playing with you.

Eh, from what I've noticed, those used to twitching, and more speed/reaction oriented atmospheres are having a bit more difficulty in ET. I find it easier and a lot more fun than CS or any of the others, personally. There is just a lot more to it in my opinion. It's also more open and broad, I can use peripheral a lot more, than say CS where you are enclosed and blocked in, where its all just a bunch of huge squares/blocks put together.

I've also noticed those who owned at games like CS and such don't like ET near as much.

Strange, the only games I usually play are quick, fast-paced twitch games. For example, right here in front of me is both Serious Sam games, Quake, Unreal Tournament, Half-Life, Quake 2, Quake 3 Arena, and Doom. I just play Enemy Territory like I play Quake 3. (Shooting stuff) When needed, I'm just an engineer so I can build stuff. It really feels more like a Quake 3 modification than anything to me.

Hmmm... I may not have been the best at CS... but I was pretty good at it And I will point out, that on every ET game I have played with EC'ers... I have always been the top scorer thus far

Yeah, I've seen you up there.

Usually the tops tend to be Delphi for highest frags, you typically end highest score, D usually gets most decorated. Typically I end up with highest accuracy, although in games with Skaw in them he usually beats me out. I randomly trade off best Covert Ops with Rosa.

I gain EXP like a motherfucker Even in pubs, though I may not come in top place, I'm always in the top 3 when it comes to most EXP. And most of my tricks are outlined above

Most of them, that is. Not all Gotta have some tricks of my own, after all

For the most part, it is. It's built off of the Quake 3 engine Play the two and you can feel how they're the same game, but with different weapons, and a different environment.

Oh trust me pal, I know all about Id software and almost every single game that they've licensed engines for. It's funny strafe jumping down hills and moving 300 MPH or skating along lakes and flying the speed of sound. I often times employ techniques I use in Quake 3 (strafe jump-attack with melee-strafe jump away) in Enemy Territory, and it's funny when they actually work.

Terena Azal had this to say about Jimmy Carter:

Yeah, sorry for getting raped up the ass by Nem AND teg while you sat around the spawn with your thumb up your ass.

You'd probably do a lot better if you followed my keybinding suggestion above. There were a lot of times speccing you when I saw you had your knife out, you went to pistol, and got caught with it out, and I was yelling "PRESS 3! PRESS 3! Cmon! HE SHOULD BE DEAD! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Damn." and I felt so bad.

Translation : I expect my teammates to make up for my shortcomings. My small penis has lead me into an inferiority complex, and in order to still keep some shred of masculinity I blame everything on others and make excuses when cornered.

Delphi, you've always been an asshole in FPS games, and it sounds like Enemy Territory is no exception. You sit there and scream and bitch about lag and gay kills and fags when an enemy kills you. You bitch to your team when they aren't performing up to your godlike standards. I can't imagine how painful it must be to play Natural Selection with you around.

Terena, not everyone is like Delphi. It's a game, and yes, new players aren't as good at it as old ones (Usually). But that doesn't mean you can't become good at it. It just takes some practice. If you like, I'll help you, show you where the objectives are, etc. Actually, it's because you asked about the map objectives that I posted the map guide

Just ignore shitstains like Delphi. Those types of players expect everyone else to play the game FOR them and just want to ride off of other people's successes, and bitch and whine like 4 year olds when the rest of the team can't pull his ass out of the fire.

Terena, keep playing, and within a day or so you'll probably be better then Delphi, so just kill him all the time
