just curious
Ah-dreh-see-ah.
Thinking about your posts
(and billing you for it) since 2001
My initials create the name "Wes." Sentow is an anagram of "Not Wes," and I used it because, well, he isn't me.
Just a random name I picked for EQ.
Fishslayer
Comes from my aquiring a cursed magical sword back in the Ocy's bar period of EC, "He Who Rends (fish)"

Random EQ name, but mainly choosen cause it sounds like a suitable halfling name.
pronounced Bo-cat.
So there.

When Life, the Universe and Everything was released in America various bits were censored, most notably the part explaining the use of swear words in the galaxy. The original batch of standard swear words (shit, fuck and the like) were replaced with various other words such as swut, turlingdrome and joojooflop.
(JooJooFlop was in the original BBC Radio series as one of the worst words you could say.. the worst, of course was 'Belgium' so no censoring as far as I know )
Niklas is my real name, pronounced short and sharp.
Tarquinius was a caesar from ancient rome, but in fact I stole my name from Rock'n'Roll Racing where Tarquinn was the coolest character.
With the last name I came up myself; sounds dutch, but means nothing. (I wanted to call him 'van Draak', but 'Dreike' sounded better. )

HOW DO YOU PRONOUNCE IT!?
"Battle.net needs a screen name? What is a screen name? Why was I not informed? Crud"
Some time passed, and eventually I settled for 'Pit Lord'
"Pit_Lord I am! Pit Lord is who I shall BE!"
So for many years I was Pit Lord... but there came a time when i felt it just wasn't appropiate
"Damn, my name makes me feel like a 13 year old" which is rather accurate since I was like 13 when I got Starcraft I think (When DID that game come out? I swear in my mind it always has just existed, sort of like Doom)
So, I decided to change my name... once and for all, something that until the end of time would represent ME!
Problem is... I still sort of liked Pit_Lord
It had nostalgic value dammit, it was my VERY first name on the 'net, ever, at any point
(For reference, I chose it in relation to the MTG card Lord of the Pit... which at the time was THE shiznit black beatdown card... anyways)
So, I thought... "Wait a minute self, English isn't the ONLY language in existence! Lets try some other language and pray!"
So, to Yahoo I charged, and found myself an English to Latin dictionary
PIT!
Got about 25 possible words
So, I got a choice, I was liking this
And lo and behold, there it was at the bottom... Vorago! Which means, according to the translation, anything even vaguely resembling a pit, all the way up to 'Abyss'
And you know what? I liked Vorago
And for reference, *I* pronounce it with a hard A... 'Vor-A-Go' or 'Vor-Eh-Go, not 'Vor-ah-go'
But, that was only Pit... and my name certainly wasn't just Pit, nope, i was Pit Lord!
Give you one guess where the Erus in Vorago Erus comes from?
So I am now and forever Vorago Erus, Pit Lord in latin
And that is my story

It's not something people hear about.
From about 5 parts of the random Generator, til I found somehting I liked for a halfling.
Before EQ, my gaming name was Burn-Out, cause I loved the Pyro class in Team Fortress for Quake 1.
It's pronounced Mar-Do·Quinkie-Shaka-Muth-Kabooo·Wakku-Lardo-Mungolier
I made it up off the top of my head while trying to think of a name for my second EQ necromancer, fourth character.
First character ever was Jaff the paladin. Second was Giest the magician, fourth was some lame necro with a name I can't remember.
In Quake and such, my nick name was usually Camshaft; a holdover of a screen name, Captain Camshaft; I used... shit; back before a lot of you were born... but starting with Pitstop II on the C64...
pronounciation: Rag Uh Bash
edit: spelling [ 01-27-2003: Message edited by: Ragabash ]
*call over shoulder to roommate* Gimmie a letter!
The original spelling was Xyra, which EQ wouldn't accept, for one reason or another. Tried another A. Nope. Tried another R. YAY, it works!!!!
And as for pronunciation, I usually go with zeye-RA.

Ah, but that was the radio series. I'm talking about the book.
I used to be called Zephyr, because I'm very air elemental, but that name's so bloody common that I had to put a spin on it.
Pronounced Zef-yur. That extra 'E' isn't silent.
Then I realized Wizard was a bad class to solo, and my schedule mandated that I solo more often than not.
So I started an Erudite Necro. Bloodsage seemed an appropriately descriptive name, as it conveys both the source of a Necro's power, and the arcane nature of the craft.
You'll also find me online as Steel Nirvana or Inclement Nirvana.

Hmmm... is it possible that we have met before?
In EQ?
On Luclin?
Anyways, mom and Dad picked this name for me.

I had allready deliberately scored a critical failure on the Metamorphosis power (a crit fail sticks you as your new form forever) to turn myself into a younger member of a different race (think young Kerran). Anyway, during a fight, I did a Bad Thing, and wound up getting critted from behind by someone with a Holy Avenger. Bye bye spine, and the GM gave me one round of life (and conscious thought) before I died, but nobody was close enough to save my fuzzy ass.
So, I invoked one of her house rules (PCs can burn levels to perform great feats, keeps the old elves and such from being more powerful than gods), and blew all my levels on an attempt to get another critical failure on the Metamorphosis power. I managed it, and turned one of the undamaged parts of my body (the head) into something that could survive with 0 effective levels and 0 effective HP.
An egg. The egg of a small, dragon-like creature, to be exact. I survived, and was still able to be contacted mentally, just as if I had Metamorphosised into a stone. However, the egg was alive, and changing. So, my mind faded out as it got closer to hatching (my GM was gonna do this to me anyway, but I suggested it to her before she could). Finally, the little dragon-like creature was born, and became my new character.
Said critter (the race was known as "flit lizards", a reworked version of the PsuedoDragon) had the knowledge and personality of me, but the actual memories of the former self had mostly lost and garbled. Mentally speaking, the effect was still there, but the causes had been lost.
Finally sick of being confused with this person he didn't really remember, he chose a name for himself. Palador. Named mostly after the Greek Goddess Palas Athena, who sprang full grown from Zeus's head, just as he had "sprang" from someone's head. She was also a goddess of Wisdom and Knowledge, fitting for someone that was born with a High School Education and plenty of life experiences. The fact that he was created by Psychic power was yet another way that he "sprang from the head" when he was made. Palador was also a reference to Paladin, such as the male he saw when he hatched (the party leader, Strider the Paladin, AKA: Daddy).
In playing this character, I had to look at my own thought processes in a whole new way. I had to take what kind of person I was, and work backword from there, because he didn't know or understand the events that had given him his personality. As I did this, it became a mental exercise that actually showed me some interesting stuff about my self, and helped me resolve many internal issues (some of which suprised me). So, the "from the head" and Wisdom references became even stronger, and the RL me became somewhat more like the RP character (mentally speaking, naturally). So, when the name kinda got stuck onto me as well, I liked it.
If you read all that, then I'm sure you can guess where the ChibiDragon part comes from.
It's pronounced much like Paladin, only the "din" is replaced with "dor" (sounds like "door").
THANKS SYNJARI!! I mah Chica
The vocals are me, the music mix is by Synnie... but you can hear me say my name.
The name is my EQ Paladin's character. I came up with it out of the air, because it sounded Elven and musical, and "her".
Once the name was in my head, I couldn't get it out.
I suppose all these years later, I still can't. Even though I don't play.
Zaile: He was going to be a White Tiger Vah Shir, with purple eyes. I wanted to name him Zale, after the jewelry store Zale's. It was to compare his eyes, and the way they stood out against his white fur, to gems. Zaile was as close as EQ would let me get. Later, I changed him to black fur, because it shows the muscle shading on the fur better. Eyes are still purple though.
Warder Japolo: Zaile's warder is named after the Japolo from Shamanic Princess (an Anime). If you've seen it, then you know what a cute badass Japolo is. After seeing a BL warder in action, I thought it fit.

Ah, he was fun.
Sometimes I thought it might be said that way, but I usually said it like "Carnage".
My ORIGINAL name was "Gomaten" (Go-mah-ten) which I just made up off of the top of my head a LOOOONG time ago when I was like 11 and I used to go on all these sissy anime chatrooms n stuff. I didnt USE it at the time, I actually suggested it to someone else but he didnt take it so I was like "whatever".
A long while later, I finally got my own copy of Half-Life so me and my brother could actually play online at the same time (back then WON banned people if two users with the same CD-key were online simultaneously), and I realised that we both couldnt go under the same name anymore, so I thought to myself: "wtf should my name be?" and then I was all like: "Gomaten!" and ive used that name for essentially everything ever since.
But wtf is up with "Gomateux" (Go-mah-tuh) do you ask? Well, the "eux" suffix is actually a CS/DoD/whatever guild of sorts.
It came from a clan mate of my brother's that I would play with who's game name was "Blade". He was french, and we all used to play on the AWOL servers and go to their forums. A clan know as CSST also went to these forums, and there was a member who for no reason at all changed his name from "Champ" to "Champeuh".
Blade, being the funny french guy he was, designed his own mockery of this and changed HIS name to "Bladeux". And for fun he made "eux" a guild of sorts, and said "lol Gomeux" I was like "no way, Gomateux".
Yup, thats it.
Oh, and I also found out that Gomaten is actually a real word. Its some sort of oriental dish that looks alot like lasagna.
