As he looks at his hand he looks up to the dragon, "What are you doing here anyways?" he asks.

ooc: Would my alarm spell be off by now? Is it morning? For that matter, will it go off if I touch it or do I have to specify that?
ooc:Willias
You implied that you wanted the spell to last until sunrise. As such, since the sun has not yet risen, the spell would still be active. You also never established a password... poor slobIncidentally, for purposes of this campaign, the duration of the spell Alarm is not level dependent. It will last up to 12 hours, until it is triggered, or until a designated event.
"I'm teaching you cards," the dragon responds, "what else would I be doing? It's not like I can just waltz into the nearest town and order a drink you know." He picks up his cards, and begins sorting them in his hand.
You've managed to deal yourself a two of clubs, a seven of hearts, and three aces of spades.
Aanile
Squirming doesn't seem to help much as you roll over and under and over and under and over and under... and wake up rather thoroughly entanged in Taylen's bedroll.
Taylen is no longer present, though his bow and backpack still lean against the nearby wagon. The elf in traveler's garb, the red-haired half-elf, and the dwarf have passed out around the fire. Even the fire itself seems to have gone to sleep, as only a few glowing embers remain buried among the exhausted kindling. Only the robed elf is up and about.
Reyolen
Your spellbook is exactly where you left it, unopened and undisturbed. You remember casting a spell on it last night, but the details are rather hazy in your mind. Apparently you were rather tired at the time, and possibly a bit addled as well.
ooc: Trying to get me in trouble with the party by waking them up, bad, bad, dm!
She figures her friend had gone off to find food, or some other erron, since her pet doesn't seem to be restless. Looking around at the others asleep, she decides not to wake them, but instead just focus on the fire, as if meditating.
(ooc, erm, no book handy, I'm assuming druids don't need a book for spells? or do they?)
ooc:Reyolen
*Ahem* Reyolen, if I was trying to get you in trouble, I would have waited until after you picked up the book. And next time you decide to reroute based on information provided OOC, you'd better put in some roleplay to back it up.
The fellin woman seems to be doing a lot of tossing and turning. However, she does not pay you any particular mind, and eventually settles down, staring at the remaining embers of the campfire. The nearest open seat to you places you directly between the half-elven woman and the dwarf, both of whom are asleep.
Aanile
You manage to worm your way mostly out of the bedroll. The fire has died down to embers, and the moon is high in the late night sky. The dawn is not far off. Twin Moon leaves her perch and flies over to you, where she perches on your leg. She seems a bit tired, and considering her nature, it's quite likely she stayed up all night.
Taylen & Drakkenmaw
The hours have passed, and the dawn is not far off. Between the branches of the trees, you can see glimpses of the moon high in the early morning sky. Few sounds emerge from the forest around you, though here and there a few birds have begun to twitter.

"But now, eat."
ooc:Frey gives a smile of sorts to her animal friend, gently offering Twin her hand to perch on so she could "groom" the owl with one of her claw.

ic: "Hmm, so no one wishes to speak to me, eh? No matter, I would only be lowering myself anyway, from boredom and hunger, to talk to these....creatures." Silvan said to himself as he sat by the fire. Silvan, still confused about his set alarm spell, decided to wait until the others awoke before he tried to touch it. After all, if they woke by his alarm he may get some heat, and then where would his burly guards be when the bandits came to collect? He had to be careful to stay off their bad side if he could help it, and waking up to that spell might put him there. For the life of him, he could not tell why he couldn't remember how he had set the alarm up on his book, but he also didn't remember memorizing any spells. He must have been far too tired for his own good, he thought.
Obviously, he would have to do something. He couldn't just sit here expecting to be fed. Of course, not knowing the area and trying to look for food himself might take much more time and energy. Then there was the lizard meat....but he wasn't planning on touching that savage meal unless he had to. He cringed at the very thought of touching it. He decided to pull out his mirror and fix his hair and face again, as much as he could, using a cloth.
ooc:Willias
I'll set the scene for Taylen's return to camp once I know what Drak is doing.
"Yes, yes, keep your robes on. Opening the bet with five silvers." The dragon takes five coins off of a stack in front of him on the table, and tosses them towards the center. "And you should know my name by now. We've been playing every week for two months now. Kind of a shame the others couldn't make it this week," he says casually, then chuckles, "but it means I can teach you the real skill behind the game."
Aanile
The owl looks up at you from her perch on your leg. She looks up at you and blinks, then nuzzles against your belly. There is a faint smell of lizardman on her feathers.
Falaanla
The fellin woman says to her bird, in very fluid Sylvan, "Tooktook how are you? No mice to find?" The bird is sitting in her lap.
Reyolen
You hear the Fellin woman talking in Sylvan. The soft, flowing language of the forest is pleasant to hear, even if she doesn't seem to have anything important to say at the moment.
The elf, dwarf, and half-elf around the fire are still asleep. Far off to the west, you can see the sun's light reflecting off the mountaintops. The sun will soon begin to crest in the East.
She ran the claw of her right pointer finger through the bird's feathers, ever so lightly petting her. "rrrr Almost time forr you to find a brranch forr the night." She kept her voice quiet and calm, so as not to disterb anyone sleeping.

And now...
Your winged companion may have been more tired than you thought. While still perched on your leg, she closes her eyes and nods off into sleep.
Just then, Taylen walks out of the nearby trees. Behind him by several paces is a large lizard creature, with brown and tan scales covering what you can see of its head and body. The creature appears to be a lizardman, though somewhat smaller than those that lie dead in the camp, and much less green. Over its back and shoulders hangs a large earthen cloak, and it carries a shoulder bag at its side.
Reyolen
Fixing your hair with a piece of cloth doesn't seem to work very well. However, it does give you an opportunity to clean the dirt off your face from last night, when you retunred to consciousness with your face to the ground.
After a few moments, as the sun begins to crest over the trees, the leather-clad elf emerges. He appears none the worse for wear, though he doesn't appear to have brought any breakfast back with him. A few steps behind him, another being emerges from the trees. The creature is a lizardman, clad in a broad cloak. Oddly enough, the creature appears not to be attacking.
Falaanla
The sun is just cresting over the trees, and the reflection on the mountains far in the distance is a beautiful sight. Ithar is still asleep beside you, nested in the grasses.
A rustling nearby draws your attention. The leather-clad elf walks out of the trees and returns to camp. Behind him is a very large lizard, walking on its hind legs. The brown-scaled creature stands a good foot and a half taller than the elf... quite a significant difference to someone of your stature. Both approaching figures appear calm, as if this was something that happens every day.
Ruvyen
Zzzzz...
Taylen
The lizardman follows several paces behind you, carrying the bag of teeth with him. He says very little as you approach the camp, and remains at a safe distance behind... both for you and for himself. By the time you return to camp, the sun has just risen, and the mountains in the distance are brilliantly lighted. In the forest, such sights were rare, as the trees often blocked any view of the distant landscape.
It appears that several members of the ragtag group are already awake. Freya has her owl companion in her lap. The robed elf is sitting by the fire, grooming his hair and cleaning off his face. It also appears that the little winged girl is awake, though she hasn't done much in the way of getting up. The dwarf, Khazmon, is still asleep where he sits. Aust and Ara are both still curled up in their bedrolls, with a scroll case set under Aust's head as a pillow.
Drakkenmaw
There appears to be some activity in the camp, as you approach behind the leather-clad elf. The dwarf is still asleep, sitting slumped over beside the burned-out fire. Also, the elf in traveler's garb and the red-haired half-elf both appear to be inactive, curled up in bedrolls nearby each other.
The feline woman is sitting up, with the owl in her lap. It appears that the feathered creature trusts her explicitly. Perhaps this is why it has remained, rather than vanishing into the trees. Others awake include a robed elf, busy attending to his own appearance, and the little girl. In the early daylight, you can tell that the fine layer which covered her during the night was, in fact, not a blanket at all. A pair of silvery wings adorns her back, extending through carefully hewn slits in her flowing gown.

Quick note on spell preparation:
To prepare spells takes three or four steps, depending on the type and power of the spell. First, in order to sustain her spells, a spellcaster must rest. Second (for wizards only), she must study the spells in her spellbook. Third is meditation, to prepare the body for the energies, and to draw them unto one's self. The length of this meditation varies by the spell's power. Fourth, the caster must ready the spell's foci and other spell components, if such substances are needed.Reyolen, you are down your alarm spell. Willias, neither of your Magic Missles is ready. Falaanla, you're currently down one spell from casting Ghost Sound.
You awake from your dream, to the sounds of angry elven voices. The sun has risen, and you feel refreshed, though it would have been enjoyable to finish your dream. There is talk of manners and of visitors, and once you free the haze of sleep from your eyes, you notice a rather large creature standing in an awkward position beside the supply cart. The lizardman is scarfing large chunks of meat from the cart, and is neither speaking nor paying any attention to you or the others. This creature may be the one from last night, though if it is, then why it would be idling in your camp eludes you. Unfortunately, you did not finish more than part of your spell preparations last night, so the spells you expended cannot be cast again without further meditation.
Taylen
Your feline companion is quite awake. She is sitting up, facing the exhausted campfire. On her lap, Twin Moon appears to have fallen asleep.
Reyolen
The lizard creature seems to ignore you entirely, as it begins eating slabs of meat from the (now) rather large pile on the supply cart. The leather-clad elf acts as its spokesperson, for reasons you cannot fathom. However, it is at least fortunate that the creature shows no inclination of wanting to club, bite, or otherwise attack you.
Falaanla
The leather-clad elf crosses the camp, to rejoin the fellin who occupied his sleeping bag during the night. The large lizard creature stops by the supply cart, and begins scarfing down slabs of meat. The elf and half-elf lying by the exhausted campfire begin to stir, possibly as a result of the arguing between the two awake elves.
OOC: Thanks Ford, was wondering how to reprepare my spells.
ooc:Drakkenmaw
In case this hasn't been made VERY clear, the fire has essentially gone out. Only a few embers still glow within the bowels of the ashen tinder.
You notice activity in the corner of your eye. One of the elves, who had been asleep before, scrables about frantically for a few seconds, then settles back down. The robed elf, who became agitated upon your arrival, seems to be tolerating your presence. He approaches sword in hand, only to spear a slab of meat and walk away before you have a chance to react.
Reyolen
As large a blaze as the fire was last night, its ashen remains do little to cook the slab of meat on your sword. Turning the meat appears futile. However, considering the four wagons around with nothing to pull them, it probably wouldn't be too hard to find kindling. Unfortunately, you're no expert at starting fires, nor have you the strength to simply pull planks free of an overturned wagon.
Willias
You'll never get your spells focused so long as you remain in this kind of panic. You remember the spells just fine, as you studied them sufficiently last night. What they lack is the focused energies you would need to cast. The short period of meditation during casting does not nearly provide enough energy for a successful spell, but merely focuses that energy for release.
ooc: If I were to memorize them now and rest and meditation (the other 2 required things to get my spell up) are not available right away, will I still remember the memorization enough to be able to meditate, then sleep, 8-12 hours afterward and still regain my spells? [ 02-23-2002: Message edited by: Reyolen ]
ooc:Reyolen
Once you've read the spells, you can complete the other steps at any time (so long as nothing wipes your memory). You can also rest either before or after studying the spells. The meditation to gather energies must come after both rest and reading, since you need to be both physically and mentally prepared for your choice of spells.Reyolen, since you're not specifying new spells, I presume you're just re-memorizing the one you cast.
Thankfully, the spell does not trigger. Since you didn't use a password to open the spellbook, it seems likely that your spell expired some time during the night.

Aust hears something move around behind him and he snaps out of meditation. "With that lizardman here, I will never get Magic Missle reprepared." he thinks to himself. [ 02-23-2002: Message edited by: Willias ]
Aust picks up his staff and spellbook and backpack, and walks over to Khazmon, keeping his face turned from the lizardman. After he walks up to Khazmon he grabs him by his shoulder and shakes him a little bit. "Khazmon, wake up!" he whispers.
IC: Khazmon just starts to have quite an odd dream. Odd, although compared to his other dreams, very normal. He has no clue what it's about, but it involves a clone of himself, an abyssal maw, and a colloseum. Suddenly, a mouth opens up on one of the colloseum walls.
"Khazmon" the wall bellows, in a deep, loud voice, that sounded like thunder hitting a mountain. Suddenly, its pitch changes drastically, and it says, "Wake up!" in a very high voice. The dream promptly ends.
Khazmon stirs a bit, but he's still asleep. [ 02-23-2002: Message edited by: Ruvyen Warblade ]
ooc:Ruvyen
Ruvyen, in the future, please let me initiate the dreams. This time I'll let you get away with it, since I like how it came out.
The dreamworld around you seems to fade away, yet pieces still remain. The gaping maw on the colluseum wall fades into a thin elven face... right in front of your own.
Willias
The dwarf stirs, but shows now signs of waking up. He was the last one awake when you went to sleep, so he might still be tired.
"Aye?"
"Ithar, Ithar...wake up...wake up... Just follow me, do what i do."
Saeessira then looks around, gathers a few small stones, andd flies about 15 feet in the air. She flies over to the lizardman, and starts tossing the rocks at him. She then shouts, in common...
HEY YOU! Get out of here! YEAH YOU you big lizard thing! You better not even think of eating me, or my friends! GO! SHOO!
"Huh, wha? Okies!" the bird watches you pick up a few stones, then pops into the grasses. A few seconds later, Ithar returns with a silver coin in its beak. Following you into the sky, your companion drops the coin onto the lizardman's nose, then ducks back into the grasses without stopping. "Funfun!" the bird announces to you, "Rain rain come again!"
Drakkenmaw
You feel a sudden, gentle thud on the top of your head, as a stone plunks off your scales. Soon after, another hits you on the shoulder, then one on your nose. From above, you hear someone shouting in a high-pitched voice. You can understand her words, as she is speaking in Common tongue. More stones pelt you on the head and back, and a single, silver coin bounces right between your eyes.
Everyone Else
The little winged girl takes to the sky, flying well over everyone's heads. She starts throwing stones at the lizardman, and calls out in a small, high-pitched voice, "GO! SHOO!"
The sound of shouting reaches Aust's ears, and Aust grips his Quarterstaff tightly in his right hand. He looks down to Khazmon again and nods. "I think that the little winged woman needs help, or just spotted the lizardman, should we help?"
"Would... you... please... stop?"
