Yeah, they said that about EVE too and I can tell you with certainty that it isn't true.

i'm sure it'll be just as bad but with fewer people

in every MMO you have to get into a guild with people that you like and stick it out that way. I've not seen any game work out differently yet

It'll probably work out as DAoC did: solid base smaller than the mainstream.

Or maybe it is because WAR is a shortening of Warhammer.

Abbreviations generally don't skip letters like O for Online or o for of. The most common abbreviation I've seen used is WHO, which covers the main part of the name -- Warhammer Online.

EDIT: However, looking press releases I have from Mythic, I do see WAR used at one or two points.

I do agree there. I just was thinking that it seemed like a bit of an odd abbreviation and assumed it was more taking the War of Warhammer and capitalizing it as opposed to pulling letters from the start of a few words.

Why did the leave in the "of" in the Dark Age of Camelot abbreviation? or the "of" in City of Heroes? Same reason I guess. Easier to say Day-ock and have people recognize it as a game than "dack" which is just a weird sound.

I learned long ago not to question absurd acronyms.
"Age by age have men stood up and said to the world, 'From what has come before me, I was forged, but I am new and greater than my forebears.' And so each man walks the world in ruin, abandoned and untried. Less than the whole of his being"

How can you have a Netherdrake and still be wearing GM Shoulders and an Imbued Netherweave Robe?

Odd priorities and odder drop rates.

I will say last night, I did loot a Warp-Infused Drape and the Devil-etched leggings from Botanica. (I was the only clothie) I just need to research the proper gems so I can meet all my guild's Kara minimums at the same time.

As for the shoulders, I literally have not found a better upgrade for them, from 60-70 and in all the non-heroic instances I've done so far, especially not when the +20 stamina set bonus from two pieces (the gloves as well) is considered.

Also I like the Purple Radio Antenna Shoulders of Doom. She'd look strange without them.

Destroyer's Mantle
Incanter's Pauldrons
Mana-Etched Spaulders
Spaulders of Oblivion
Mana-Sphere Shoulderguards
Spaulders of the Torn-heart
Mantle of Three Terrors
Gladiator's Silk Amice

All extremely easy to obtain, but after having a chance to look at your armory it's clear that you have no intention of doing anything to actually make your character any better. The fact that you've managed to get your epic mount in addition to Exalted with Scryers and Netherwing without actually managing to upgrade any of the gear you hit 70 with is mind-boggling.

Odd priorities, indeed.

Nice stuff, to be sure. I guess I wasn't clear saying I've been doing instances every chance I get lately - haven't done any heroics yet, but hopefully will be able to once the rest of the guild gets back from their camping trip next week. (I couldn't get the time off)

Getting Aldor was easy, if tedious - kill demons at Legion hold in SMV for coin, rep, and stuff to sell for more coin, which went toward my flying mount training. Actually, I hit 70 months ago, and pretty much everything but the shoulders and helm has been upgraded at least twice.

I never claimed to be hardcore. I happen to enjoy the game, and the Netherwing rep quests were both fun and lucrative.

I did the Cipher of Damnation... what the hell happened to those shoulders...?

Mightion, a suggestion: Grind up tailoring. You get some kickass armor that is damn near better than T5 stuff and, while it locks you into a damage type, it isn't a big deal. Spellfire has some awesome crit and damage bonuses on it, so I'd recommend you go that way.
