There was much rejoicing when DrPaintThinner said this:
I might have to, if I grow afraid of upgrading :xedit: or is 3.02OE-A/B a firmware that runs with 1.5 at the same time?
Nope but DevHook only emulates the firmware, it doesn't allow you to run PS1 games on it. Basically how 3.02OE-A/B works is it installs an extremely stripped down version of 1.5, removes everything. The 1.5 underlay then boots the 3.02OE-A/B firmware, it's essentially an emulation. That's how much of the firmware is hacked/modified and the PSP still accepts it.

fucking sweet. I'm almost completely over the idea that I will be screwed over by this seller from amazon. What I assume is the case is the psp isnt an actual 1.5 its just a 1.6-2.6 downgraded to a 1.5 (done the easyway) so the seller saved me a step pretty much.
You'll be fine, as long as it's not past 2.71 you can downgrade it and install 3.02 OE-B, apparently Dark_Alex's TA-082 disables whatever junk caused TA-082 Mobo's to brick, making them as functional as any other version.
Pretty neat stuff.

DrPaintThinner stopped beating up furries long enough to write:
it didnt say anything about the mobo just that its 1.5 firmware.
Yeah well you would have been screwed if it was a TA-082 but now DA has a downgrader for that soooo it's impossible for you to be screwed.

Metal gear acid 2 asked for a mga1 save file, and i switched out memory cards to load it, then put in the one with the game back in and it went fine. Why can't xenogears work
Because the PSP sees them as two completely seperate games. Not 2 discs of the same game. YOu have to end one game before you can start the next. Apparently someone made a application to import/export from the PSP format to one usable by PS1 PC emulators. SO I guess you could play through the disc change on there, then put it back on the PSP. yea it does. I distinctly remember this, because i was borrowing the first disc from a friend. So I saved and went and got the second disc at the end of the first. and while i don't know spolier text so i won't say what happens, there is an option to save there.
I am currently trying .ccd but its geting constant read disk errors but that doesnt stop it from continuting its rip. Is this all good?

3.03 OE-A has been released. The emulator works a little better and the big thing: Compressed images! Ripped almost 200 megs off of FF7 disc 1.
does this mean you dont need 3.02 OE-A or 3.02 OE-B anymore? DrPaintThinner fucked around with this message on 01-06-2007 at 09:02 PM.
called 3.03 OE-A'
You shall need:
-Popstation that came with 3.03
-Hot Shots Golf 2 BOOT.PBP and KEYS.bin
-
-An iso of a playstion one game.
-This giant fucking list of game IDs
You should note that there are two .dll files in the Popstation folder. Stuff these mofos in C:\WINDOWS\system32
Now copy Hot Shots BOOT.PBP and KEYS.bin into popstations folder. Procede to rename BOOT.pbp to BASE.pbp
Create a new text file with this inside:
code:
@echo off
echo Popstation.exe PSX Converter
echo www.psp-hacks.comecho Game Name Use quotation marks ie: "my game 2"?
set /p name=
echo Game ID (SCUS, SLUS, SLES, SCES, SCED, SLPS, SLPM, SCPS, SLED,
echo SLPS, SIPS or ESPM, and be followed by a number of 5 digits.)
set /p gameid=
echo Compression (0-9)
set /p compression=
echo Please drag or type the original iso file to this window and press enter
set /p isooriginal=echo.
echo Conversion process started.
echo.
echo Please wait...
echo.popstation.exe %name% %gameid% %compression% %isooriginal%
pause
Save that as makeiso.cmd.
Run makeiso.cmd. It will ask you what you want to call the game. Put this in quotes and hit enter. Next it will ask you for a Disc ID. Find this on the giant list. Put it in like SCUS12345. No spaces or _. Make sure multi-disc games use one ID or saves won't transfer. Next it will ask for a compression level. 6 is the standard, you can goes as high as 9 but it won't be much different. Finally, drag your .iso onto the makeiso.cmd window. Hit enter. Your BOOT.PBP will spit out in Popstation's folder.
Place BOOT.PBP and a copy of KEYS.BIN onto your PSP in /PSP/GAME/<Game Name>/
Congratu-fucking-lations. You've got PS1 on your PSP.
If you want to have custom icons and backgrounds for your game you can place those in the Popstation folder as well.
ICON0.png is a 144x80 ping that shows up in the Memory Stick list. Alaan fucked around with this message on 01-07-2007 at 02:10 AM.
PIC1.PNG is a 480x272 picture that is the background for the entire screen when the game is selected in the memory stick list.

I walked my buddy through the same steps and his bricked out, it wasn't a TA-082 board either. Sux2bhim. He's going to try and get a friend of ours to exchange his for one of the used psps they have on hand at gamestop, if not Sony will apparently take them back and reflash the PSP to a valid firmware. He likes to work the systems as much as he can. He's a bastard.

Go to Target. Buy PSP. Leave. Switch out PSPs. Return PSP. Profit.
Target doesn't bother with serial numbers so this works for pretty much anything that they carry.

'The motions' for a 2.71 version with a TA-082 mobo? I'm paranoid about trying it, and I'm getting confused about the instructions that include lines like 'Run HEN-D if you are not already running it.'
Is HEN-D included in the
'2.71_TA-082_EASY_Downgrader_0.1_by_csfreakno1' file? If not can someone please type out an order of stuff to do to get it done?

No, mine wasn't a TA-082. Neither was my buddies, but his bricked anyway.
He was in the process of doing that with Wally World, but I'll let him know that he can get away with it at Target.

Last time I checked, Wal-Mart has a policy of taking ANYTHING back, whether you bought it there or not, whether you have the receipt or not, a certain number of times per year. I think three. They get your driver's license info to verify.
Now I'm at 3.03 OE-C and I'm wondering: Is this the newest model of it? Where's the best spot to DL PS1 ISO's? How would I get an ISO from a PS1 CD in my computer? Any help's appreciated, thanks.
K, got all that figured out. But now when I enter the game I get a black screen. The 'Home' Button gives options for assigning buttons, altering the screen mode, or quitting; all that normal emulator stuff. However, I can't find a way to get the actual PS1 game to load. Is there a button I'm missing somewhere for 3.03 OE-C? Rodent King fucked around with this message on 01-30-2007 at 09:06 PM.

He ended up not having any issue with Wally World taking it back. I'm sure it'll eventually get sent back to Sony, reflashed, and resold.
It's the best homebrew/backup system for DS right now, so says many a people, and is gaining popularity quickly (it's only been out for like a month). Super easy to use. It took me like 5 minutes to set up.
Currently, it supports mp3s, movies, NES, and LucasArts games. People are working on stuff that's already available for other homebrew setups for it too like AIM, IRC, and a nifty paint program. (Check SA DS Homebrew thread for info on that shit.) It is totally worth every penny.

Hard to justify throwing away my M3 Mini-SD and 2 gig card, thought they do look snazzy. If you can find a first gen M3 Simply though, you can convert it to an R4 or vice versa. Either of those 2 cards you can't go wrong with.

I wouldn't throw away anything you already have, no. Just sayin' if you're totally clueless to the DS homebrew scene (which isn't hard with all the crazy jargon that flies around: slot 1/2 methods, supercards, M3, G6, whatnot) this is the way to finally get in on it.
And considering previous methods costed $100+ bucks just for the essentials, this is ace shit.
