Of course once you reach that 90+ hour mark you have Auron solo the final boss pratically.
Anyways, I went and beat the game. The final dungeon and ending seemed a bit rushed, but were still good. Awesome game.
I'm gar for Balthier.

No. It's not entirely hands-off.

What determines how often you get combo hits?
Poles, katanas, ninja swords, and certain ultimate weapons will combo more. The genji glove allows you to combo more. There doesn't seem to be any info on an exact formula or stat that affects it though.

No, it is not hands-off. Combat is pretty fast and the system is designed around you using gambits to automate functions that you'll use frequently, like attack or steal, so you don't have to go into the menus for them.
Gambits will allow you to handle most non-named mobs pretty easily, but you'll still need to go into your menus. Against named mobs, you need to use gambits and interact as well. If you're not using gambits, you simply won't be able to keep up. If you're using just gambits, you may be OK against some of the easier named mobs. Against harder ones you'll be going into the menus a lot. Oh, and this is with wait turned on. With active system turned on you'll get raped without gambits.

For little mobs like wolfs or skeletons or something, yeah, it's hands-off. However, for groups of medium mobs or boss fights I would say it's necessary to control the actions of your group.

If you've chained a bunch of skeletons together, that'll happen as a bonus.
They're respawning everywhere else, just not there.

Run all the way out to the first bridge, then run back. Just hold down R2 so the chain doesn't get blown.
And what is that 18000 gil bazaar item you get to buy for killing that wolf in the Eastern desert area?

Also I've found that in the Lhusu Mines, you can walk back and forth across the Twinspan and skeletons will respawn until you kill like 48 of them. Then you zone out, kill the skeletons in that zone, and go back and they spawn again! I made 11,00 gil(all from selling bone chips) chaining 102 skeletons.
This is the best place to farm til like, level 25 or so. If you're lucky with steals, you can get 99 Bone Fragments (~20k gil) in under an hour, as well as some good exp and LP.
The 18k book in the bazaar is one of the many Monographs. It's a key item that gets better loot to drop off of a certain type of mob. The 18k one is for beasts and avions. Their worth is fairly debatable.

Steal steal steal steal steal. Have a gambit setup so a character will always steal from a mob. I believe at first you'll need to set it up for 70%, then 90%, then 100% later on. Also, do mob hunts. They give good cash and gear. Exploring will also help out. Lots of good gear to be found off rare mobs and in chests. If you can get a hold of a couple gladius weapons I mentioned in the other thread you'll be good on weapons for a long while.
Also, don't buy everything. Libra and steal are the only two technicks you'll really need until you get shear much later. If you don't have the mana to use magic freely, meaning you don't have quickenings, be careful with what you buy. White magic, protect, blind, shell, haste, and slow should be your priority. These are the core spells. Everything else is nice, but not entirely needed.
Same applies to weapons/armor/accessories. Only buy stuff for three characters. As you can switch gear during combat, you can switch the good stuff if you really need to do so. Good accessories are few and far between. You can ignore them for the most part. Armor doesn't need to be upgrade that much. Only upgrade weapons for your core characters every two to three towns.

I think you're referring to the grimoires/monographs you get talking to merchants. They cause mobs to drop rare and more valuable items more often. The 18000 gil one if for birds/beasts IIRC.
Also, Traveller is the fucking bomb.

Is this before or after the mob hunt guy in there that I can't kill? I don't know where the Twinspan is in there.

Second bridge, so before the mark.

Can't turn off invert. I hated it too, but eventually got used to it.

I posted about it. You can make any character into any type of character that you want. FFX's system was only open-ended once a character finished their initial path. FFXII's is open-ended from the get-go.

Oh, sorry I missed it.
FFX is the first thing that came to mind, I guess I could have used 3, 5, 6, 7, or 8. But 10 was the first thing that came to mind.

You can make anyone do anything, with whoever you feel like fulfilling a role. Some characters are more suited to some things than others though, e.g. Basch as a melee and Penelo as a caster.

Dagger 4 is in an odd place. Go left to Crossbow 1, up to Ninja Sword 1, up to Crossbow 2, and Dagger 4 will be above Crossbow 2.
Brady Games had a promo with a flash based License Board, but I guess they took it down. Not sure if the one on Gamefaqs is any good.

Hardly any, and it only works when the target is at critical HP.

Better to use raise or a phoenix down as your first gambit. In general, other than steal and libra, the technicks are pretty useless until a couple end of game ones.
