Hypothetical situation: Suchandsuch rolls before Soandso and scores 25, finding the Blackenoth Shrine. He decides to fork over the gold to deal 15 damage to Soandso, who just happens to have exactly 15 HP.
However, when Soandso rolls afterwards, he comes up with an 18, giving him 10 fat health.
Is Soandso dead since Suchandsuch's roll came first, or are the effects essentially resolved simultaneously, so that Soandso ends up with 10 HP?
I hope this wasn't addressed already =o

I'm Parce's backup, my word is law. Unless he decides to overrule me, of course.
Parcelan may overrule me here, but it's my interpretation that if the person you target hasn't rolled yet, they have a chance to save themselves from Blackenoth's wrath on their turn. This is why *I* would suggest waiting until the 'end of day' to choose your target, when no more rolls can be made for that day. It's a tricky situation.

In his attempts to control the lives of mortals, the god Blackenoth has paid less attention to his own domain. The souls of the dead have escaped to challenge the Labyrinth once more.
Any player who has died in the Labyrinth thus far may start up again as of today. However, a player who has already died will return with no gold (but 10 HP once more). Anything can still happen, though.
Do you dare challenge the Labyrinth once again?
As a clarification...
I'm going to side with Bajah and say that if you didn't roll, you still lose hit points. If you're poisoned and go to sleep, you don't stop being poisoned!
Further, it all waits until the end of the day. If Karnaj finds the Shrine of Blackenoth and pays to whack Bajah, but Bajah finds a Shrine of Katrinitu, he does not die. However, in such a case, for now I'll rule that if that happens the Blackenoth user can choose a new target.

So it would be that Mooj, his vision clouding in his final moments happens upon the corpse of another unfortunate adventurer, wedged in a crushing wall. With fingers barely able to rifle through the adventurer's clothes, he prays for a vial of serum that would cure him of this wretched poison. Anyone else would be ecstatic to find such a large gem being held out for the taking, but not Mooj. No, he just laughs weakly in his last moments as he collapses against the corpse, sending the fist-sized gem clattering to the floor before it can be claimed.
There is a light in the distance. At peace, he wanders towards it, he sees the faces of dead loved ones and family. They call out to him, they wave to him, he smiles and rushes to meet their embrace.
The next thing he knows, he's awake and staring at the cold, dank walls of Parcelan's labyrinth once again. He feels much better than he did, but there's still the dread of knowing that he is not yet free of this place. He reaches to fondle absently at his coin pouch, the one thing that might someday make this hell worth it, only to find it empty. He can only laugh tiredly, what else is there to do? "Today, at Blackenoth's whim, Mooj is rolled for his lunch money and returned to the Labyrinth for more agony to amuse the gods over their ale," he mutters, and he immediately sets off to wandering again.
