Synergy is for two monitors.

Well you could feasibly use it in a single monitor (with dual inputs) and single keyboard/mouse situation but it wouldn't be terribly practical

I just find it much easier to use two sets of input devices with two monitors. WoW doesn't play nice with Synergy when the game is full screened last I checked. Also I can reach over and press a butan to healing touch or decurse or whatever without moving the mouse to change screens.

It certainly would save space to have only one keyboard/mouse, though.

edit: I'm not dismissing synergy without using it. I used it for a good month or so, and that's what drove me to buy the second keyboard/mouse.

Gotcha.

I've tried using two keyboards and two mice, and I can't handle it.

See, I tried to do that, but when I'd load a fullscreen game the second monitor would black out.

Over the mountain, in between the ups and downs, I ran into Led who doth quote:
CRTs last forever. LCDs are cranky things that love to die, and dead pixels are an awsome bonus.

*hugs her CRT*

Actually, a good CRT will last about five or six years before the phosphor starts to wear out.

Also, a lot of LCD's are now equivalently priced to CRT's - a good 19" CRT will cost you the same as a good 17" LCD. They'll have pretty much identical screen sizes, and they'll both have zero ghosting.

Add to that all the advantages an LCD has. An LCD made today will probably outlast a CRT made today, because LCD's have zero moving parts and push less voltage overall. Also, LCD's have no refresh rate to deal with, so you can turn off resource hogging vsync in all your games without any irritating tearing. Modern LCD's are brighter and stay brighter longer than CRT's, they don't emit radiation, and there's no tedious screen positioning adjustments to make.

Oh yeah, and they make shuttling your computer around a whole shitload easier, too.

There's a reason major retailers are cutting back hugely in their CRT stock.

I used to be the king of bashing LCD's, I know, but that was when LCD's warranted bashing.

I have a laptop in addition to my desktop so I just hook up the laptop to screen #2

It's my subwoofer. They are not A/V cables but, in fact, color-coded audio cables.

It's actually really comfortable, but you can't really see how far back the shelf goes in the picture.

Hay Gadani, you know your sub won't be very effective there right? Put it directly on the floor in a corner of the room, where a sub is supposed to go.

Buy longer A/V cables.

Small cost for a much better sub output. I'm suprised you even have any bass output without it rattling the whole desk.

Actually it has a lot of base output and does not rattle the whole desk.

Uhhh.. for a 180 degree spin? The length of the cables would not be effected since they connect DIRECTLY ABOVE.

Duh.
