Blood Elves are tied to Illidan, right?

I think so. If I remember correctly, that last mission with them involves Lady Vashj and the blood mage guy fending off waves of enemies while the blood elves run into a portal.

There is a Blood Elf in Sun Rock Retreat that gives quests to Horde.
There are quests in Azshara to fight Blood Elves that were once allied with Horde, but went crazy when they found an odd source of magic in Azshara.
It's hard to tell if these are photoshops or not, because if they are, those are some really good photoshopped areas and a damn good Blood Elf. D: Willias fucked around with this message on 10-18-2005 at 11:42 AM.

It wouldn't take much to get one of the blood elf models out of the games. There's a few of them scattered around for both factions; I can think of the one in Sun Rock and one in Theramore off the top of my head.

Rachet, I think Booty Bay, the Mithril Order has one in Gadgetzan...
I'm sure there's more.

The Mithril Order guy is a Night Elf. You're right about the Ratchet and BB though, I think. Can't remember if there was one in Everlook. Regardless, it still points to them being more of a neutral faction, though it's not unthinkable that they'd be added as a Horde race. I sincerely hope that doesn't happen, the Horde has enough idiots of its own without adding masses of Alliance noobs who think "omgIllidanpretties" and switch over. -_-

But that is a brand new model.
That isn't the same Blood Elf model that exists in the current game.

Yup, all the 'blood elves' atm are just re-textured night elves
I would assume that blood elves and night elves would look a bit different since they spent 10,000'ish years entirely apart steeped in two very different kinds of magic.
I would imagine the Horde would get them if anything, they too lost their homes and have a pretty ugly past, but also because Horde needs a 'caster' race. We have two big beefy races and two agile, stalking races (Undead just plain don't come off as casters, you would see them coming out of the darkness at ya, not chucking a fireball), need a counterbalance, heh.
I mean, the Alliance have no unusual Warcraft races, unlike the Horde, which is all pretty unusual for a typical fantasy world. Alliance has no big beefy races, and well, Pandaren might just be the needed race.
But god, if Alliance does get pandas, we're going to have one hell of an overpopulated side. D:

Blindy. wrote, obviously thinking too hard:
pandaren are too neutral and disassociated to make much sense.
So were the Tauren.
But here they are, making up over 1/3rd of the Horde.
It's not something people hear about.
Though I fear it's painting the Horde as "the evil race," whereas the Alliance are the true villains.
IMO, the Alliance shouldn't even get a race to counterbalance. This should be because of both Alliance overpopulation and to paint the natural path that the Horde is coming to power and the Alliance is slowly fading away. Mr. Parcelan fucked around with this message on 10-18-2005 at 02:17 PM.

The Tauren were at least units in the regular army. The Pandarin were just represented by an extra hero they threw in there for the hell of it.

I've never seen a blood elf in-game that looked as much like a night elf as the one in that picture. All the blood-elves have short, up-turned ears, normal eyes (i.e. pupil, irises, not glowy), and pale skin. The one in the link has a night elf face (I have a night elf that looks like that) and glowy eyes, the ears are rather long compared to the other in-game example too.
All beside the point anyhow as they very well could be a new Horde race. Makes sense too since, as I recall, many of the blood elves fights before they left for Draenor were with the Alliance.

The model is just the base shape of an object. With no texture it's just void. Nothing to see unless you have a wire-frame display of it. The texture is what gives it the glowing eyes (or non-glowing eyes), skin color, hair color, etc. Given that you have different models available for hairstyle I would assume they have slight variances on the ears as well but never actually committed them for 'player use', which is why the few Blood Elves in the game show up with that one difference. Other than the ears and the texture on the frame, I don't see any differences between the NE and the BE models...

Oh, I thought the ears and such would have to be part of the model. You're right on that count I guess. I still wonder why that blood elf in the link has glowing eyes; all the ones in the game at present have normal, non-glowy types, though I seem to recall them being glowy in WC3.

They allied themselves with Thrall, leader of the horde. How does that make them "neutral"?

Yes, but Illidan has gone KUHRAZY according to Malfurion in WoW 1.8.0, sooooooo I would think the blood elves would be all "screw this" and break off.
Just guessing though! I'm not a huge WoW lore person.
I always thought having like, dryads as the new alliance race would be cool, but it'd be impossible to make them work. I mean, how would they ride griffins? That'd just be weird.
It'll probably be pandas, even though I don't want them on alliance side. Leave the furries to Horde, plz.

Blizzard took down the WoW forums and deleted every post that linked to any of WoWGuru's new screenshots, and also deleted other posts that linked to other pictures of Blood Elves being the new Horde race.
They also deleted threads talking about Blood Elves being the expansion's Horde race.
Someone else recieved a warning (talking about Blood Elves, again) from Caydiem saying that posting unreleased content will earn you a 7 day suspension from the forums, and if you do it again after the suspension, you'll never be able to post on the WoW forums again.
Waaaaay too big of a cover up for this, and seems to put more validity behind the screenshots. Willias fucked around with this message on 10-18-2005 at 06:16 PM.

Or they're letting the fans self-hype the expansion.
Y'know, like they got us to do with the BNet website redesign.
I'd say that I'd cancel my account if they do make the Pandaren a playable race, but a) no one would care and b) I'm weak
