Generally it doesn't matter which side you take. You get a bigger XP bonus as Clan, but they also tend to be underpowered as far as population goes from what I understand. You want to avoid being Neutral as they have the worst XP bonus and are harder to actually level.. but they have the advantage of being able to go almost anywhere they like.

I just always go Clan... and I really don't know why...

It must be the secret side of me wanting to go against "The Man"... I just couldn't make myself go Omni for some reason, and going storywise both factions are dicks, with nuetrals, being... well nuetral, but sucky. So, I'm a patriotic dick.

You will learn to loath the ToTW (Temple of the Three Winds). It's like Crushbone all over again. Trains you can set your watch by, killstealing assholes at every turn, beggers, loot whores, etc, etc.

But it will get you from ~20 to 60 pretty well and there's some decent gear to be had in there for some classes. For a MA it's almost MANDATORY that you grind your ass off in there till you can get Tree.

The Subways are already like Crusbone/Unrest trainwise and stealkilling wise.

I can't name how many times I've been run over by someones runaway Striker train, or having Euminides come rape me from behind... Shadows are loverly as well early on.

Edit: and when the hell do I get a MA attack besides fucking snake... (And Suck, the class is a Martial Artist, yet every Martial Artist Attack is an ITEM than takes up a permanent Inventory slot used like an Item. )

That's why you get 3 Large Backpacks and use them for mass storage in the bottom of your inventory grid.

And you buy them at the MA Terminal in the shop. Look for the Basic Shop. There will be a MA Attack terminal. In there are different skills.

YEah, thats what I meant though... The earliest I get another attack besides snake according to the shop is 26, thats kinda sucks.

And I need money to buy backpacks, and the Adventuring skill which is expensive to train in place of other vital skills. Workarounds aside, its kinda stupid to make a classes main function and ITEM... they should be learnable ala Nanos or something, hell they use nano why not. It just seems assbackwards to me.

I like my Doctor more anyway. First game I've ever liked a healer supporter.

no no no no NO! DO not put points in Adv.

You only need that if you intend on WEARING the Backpack, and wearing it is a BAD idea as there are some nice MA items for that back slot (Organic Combat Suits). You don't need the Adv skill to use the bags for storage.

And is it Level 26 or is it Skill Level 26? Are you looking in the Basic store or the Advance store? Very few things are actually Level based (most things are skill based or TitleLevel based).

Sorry, QL26

The Skill requirements are the lower 100s in like 3 skills. I was actually fixing to just sign in, so I could check it out to be sure.

Being a Solitus, and maxing my MA Skills every level, I'm just now in the 60's at level 13.

MAs aren't that good past level 70 sry

Clan owns, fyi. Everybody who picks omni is a fag, seriously. Clan has a better community and better players.

I'd recommend just enough points in adventuring to use a large backpack. Anything more is unnecessary.

Don't get too used to maxing skills every level. It'll kick your ass later.

Tradeskill System.

You have have the specific skill trained up for that items creation in order to use the specific item creation tool, put said components to that particular item into tool, and make item. This includes the very same ore extraction and refinement process that is used in SWG, with one exception, no placeable extractors to get components like in SWG, you still have to go out and collect them like all other MMROPG. But you still get components by processesing other items into specific core tools (Just like medics and Bio-Engineers do in SWG) by adapting them. They even use Quality Levels, just like SWG does, which directly effect the quality level of the outcome. Use higher quality plasma sample, make a higher quality first aid kit, for instance. Use a higher quality Information Disk, with a Higher Quality Nano crystal, make a higher quality nano program. Use higher quality bot parts, make higher quality robots. Use different combinations, get different outcomes.

Yeah, SWG is pretty much the exact same thing as AO, only with a nicer interface, and only one Quality level to worry about instead of 2 or 3 like SWG, but its still the same thing, you want the best overall quality components.

Edit: You can even "Upgrade" or refine weapons and armor in AO, ala Slicing in SWG which the Fixer class does best.

I will say this again, really the trade skill system in AO Is not like that in SWG. Hell last I played in AO you really had only half an Idea what the recipes were.

SWG you has harvesting the resources, depending on trade by either mining/extracting from the environment or harvesting them from Animals. Also you had the special loot drops that for making super-duper items, like Kryat tissues for blasters and such.

Schematics were based on level of trade skills , even dropped and quest ones had a level requirements.

But I never seen anything in AO or any other game that is like the Experimentation process.. The quality of resources and my level determined how much Experimentation I could do, but how I spent those points really affected the outcome. I could take one gun and make like 3 different ones from it, depending on if I went with high speed and damage to make it high dps, or high speed and low attack cost for a spammer special, or middle it out. And even before I made the gun, how I made the components made a huge difference, I was churning out some good FWG5 before I quick, mostly because I could make some very good feed mechanism with low attack speed mods.

I dunno what sort of feeling you got from SWG doing the Bioengineer/doctor thing, but I was three time over pure crafting with Master Artisan, Master Shipwright and Master Weaponsmith.

---Though It seems the crafting and all support classes in SWG are getting the shaft now.

I play for concept in just about every game I play, min/maxing makes no sense to me and never has. Remember I was the one who played a WE Ranger in EQ that refused to stop using claws after levels of being outdated.

One of my favorite things about AO is the ability to stretch and have fun with concepts. More so than any other game actually.

My MA for instance is Kick ass fighter, but lacking Nano wise because I opted to go for using a Bow first Strike from Concealment, as well as my MA skills, my Stealth and Sneaky skills are maxed.

I tried playing to a concept, adventurer wasn't what I was expecting at all. After level 120 or so, they're just defensive dynamos with all of their defensive perks and heals. good god could they last a long time. and you kind of had to, because your damage as an adventurer was at times rather eh. I hear that they fixed that though. I'd love to see what adventurers could do these days if they still have the defensive powers that they used to.

Their defense wasn't really good for MTing, but for spot tanking they're pretty high up there.

Yeah, yer right about that, there is no experimentation. That's a feature SWG added.

The process however remains the same.

For the record I was a Master Bio-Engineer, Creature Handler, and enough of a Medic to get Bio-Engineer.

Although it may be everything else that makes it seem more comparable. You can't deny, SWG is almost an identical rip off of AO.

They actually increased the xp rates in the dungeons on SL so that they are actually good xp now, right after SL came out they raised the outdoors XP only so nobody went into the dungeons for XP. Personally I go duck into the Dungeon in the Crippler Cave at about level 30 and rake in tons of credits and get awesome XP.

Also the reason AO runs like shit is it is coded with DX7 so most of the graphics work is done by your CPU and not your kickass Graphics card. I'm pretty sure they are working on getting AO up to DX8 or 9 so that it runs alot better, pretty sure that will happen in the next expansion pack.

And pets can't taunt which sucks, cause solo you get your ass beat, or your pet dies, and you still get your ass beat. (Till you get your first healing pet anyway, then it rocks! )

But damage wise direct damage spells weren't doing much of anything, pets kinda gimped, debuffs were nice, combat skills sucked donkey balls.

Pets and spells. When you're juggling 3 pets later on (Meatball fighter, Healing Meatball and Tauntball) you don't have much to fear. Just don't mega-spam your spells and you're good.

Plus the fact that as you go up the curve things are balanced against people actually going Min/Max and/or basically cheating their asses off (stack buffs to get in big implants, stack more buffs to equip gear you can't actually use for 50+ levels, etc)

Main reason I quit my MP temporarily is because I can't get my Tauntball.

I had to program my own nano, cause I can't get a strait drop, but my MP isn't strong enough to go exploring for the Carbonrich Rock I need to get Ore from to make the Crystal to store the nano. So I still have no mezpet.
