Gouge and kidney shot...meh, easy enough to deal with overall as an alchemist.

Prep Rogues can be difficult and are one of the few who give me a run for my money at times.

As for Shaman counter classes...Warriors fuck me up bad, Priests can fuck me up bad, Hunters, occassionally Druids and Mages.

Cheap Shot, make your 3rd point, then get Gouge. Regen a little energy, trip a 4 point Kidney Shot, beat down for 3 of the 5 seconds you have, Vanish and just as it wears off you should have enough energy to Cheap Shot again.

More asskicking can be applied by abusing Adrenaline Rush if you really *must* beat the shit out of the Shaman

And warriors can do pretty well against shaman.

Guaranteed way to own a shaman that is down to about 1/3 life. Though I'm curious as to how well Wounding Poison would mess up a healing class.

It doesn't. At all. Wounding Poison is absolutely useless.

We had this conversation yesterday.

I think it ended up with us both laughing and one of us feeling a little violated.

Hunters beat you, Batty?

What do they do to beat you?

Pretty much any well played shaman will beat me in pretty much any situation.

Probably more than that.

Seriously, there are only three reasons to ever play Alliance:

1) You beat up Jews.
2) You're a pedophile.
3) You masturbate to Richard Gere.

Don't ask me for proof. If you were Horde, you'd understand.

May I ask why it is then? Is it curable in a single cast of Cure Poison, even after it stacks on an opponent multiple times?

The best rank is like, 150 off heals. 150 off a heal of 1500 or something. Mortal Strike is 50% healing. Which would be 750 off 1500.

Want to fuck with a caster by using poisons, use the Mind poison stuff. Either go for damage or make them cast longer.

It doesn't stack.

And, as Batty said, the reduced amount is horrid compared to things like Mortal Strike which also do damage. Wound Poison is 135, flat rate. MS is percentage and good damage.

Wound Poison just lasts five seconds longer, uses up one of our two poison slots, and costs money to make. No thank you. Crippling/Mind Numbing for me, thanks.

Then the tool-tip lies.

Edit: If you're getting your data from Thott, note that the data is a bit messed up. If you hover your cursor over the actual poison in game, it says this: Doot. Which is why I thought it stacks.

Actually, yes, it does stack 5 times. With the lowest rank of Wounding Poison, it's -275 healing, and it takes 5 cures to completely remove it.

Meaning -675 with the final rank of Wounding Poison, should work pretty well to fuck up Lesser Healing Wave or Flash Heal.

Edit: IN THEORY.

Ah, yeah, that's killer.

A hunter/shaman fight would be a fair fight if Shamans didn't have cure poison.

But with cure poison, I have no prayer of draining their mana (or trying, I would run out of mana before they do, probably), and thus, like druids, I have no way to compete with survivability.

Yeah, I was checking Thott, because I haven't touched Wound Poison in fourty levels. I never even bought the first rank.

So sure, it could be useful.. If you dual-poisoned with it. And beat on someone long enough to stack it five times. No one in their right mind would dual-poison with it, thereby giving up Crippling, Deadly or Mind Numbing in favor of an astronomically high chance that they'll negate part of someone's heal spell.

It's got a 30% proc rate, same as Crippling. Typically, when I have Crippling on my main hand, I don't have a problem getting it to proc. From testing, doesn't take long to get it to land 5 times.

That being said, I very rarely get an offhand poison to proc for some reason. :/

Sean
posted 09-10-2005 05:48:01 PM
Okay, let's put it this way, then.

If you have to rely on your mainhand poison proc stacking five times to kill someone, you should not be trying to kill them.

I agree there, but the poison can at least make it easier to kill them. That's the point of poisons anyways, isn't it? (Besides crippling I mean, that is kinda required to kill some classes.)

I rarely bother to cleanse wounding poison - it stacks too fast for me, and I can just Divine Shield to remove all 5 ranks if I really need a 2k heal instead of 1,300. Mind Numbing is infinately more of a bitch anyway. I can't remember the last time a rogue used Wounding against me... Mind Numbing, on the other hand, is a staple.
