How would being a scientist work? You can only speak the only language in the game besides English (technobabble) and basically you just type whatever you want to happen into chat and it's done?

DS9's biggest fault was that the Dominion War storyline went on far too long. Voyager had no redeeming value, plus it ruined the Borg.

Was DS9 trying to compete with the B5 war storyline? Hasnt been a huge war like that before or since.

Voyager was better than Enterprise, borg ruination or not, Enterprise is the suck, cept when Data's actor played his own grandgather. That was cool.

A Trek MMO would let you work mission to get "prop points" twoards retraining that advanced you in your field. They said a skilled non-command could eventually get a command, so that means its going for a UO style bit?

I don't know, I prefer the war-based episodes to the 'Mystic tachyons have fucked with probablility, now everyone is running into things'-type ones.

Life... is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable, because all you get back is another box of chocolates. You're stuck with this undefinable whipped-mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there's nothing else left to eat. Sure, once in a while, there's a peanut butter cup, or an English toffee. But they're gone too fast, the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits, filled with hardened jelly and teeth-crunching nuts, and if you're desperate enough to eat those, all you've got left is a... is an empty box... filled with useless, brown paper wrappers.

The reason ST was never big on long storylines is that Paramount makes tons of money selling the series into syndication and they sell much better if the episodes can be shown out of order, also ST has lots of different writers write the episodes and thus no single writer can really plan out a long storyline which will mess with established things in a major way.
