I love the idea of commanding my own starship in that universe, and I absolutely loved the Bridge Commander game. Though I do forsee a huge overload of wannabe captains at game launch and not enough lower ranked crew.

Ja'Deth Issar Ka'bael had this to say about Pirotess:
Screw being a captain. That's like being a guild leader. I'd want to be an engineer. Starfleet Engineers rock.
Scotty: "She's horribly damaged, captain!"
Kirk: "How long?"
Scotty: "Well, the warp core is almost broken, the inertal dampeners are gone, the hull has more holes than my socks, the deflector dish is falling apart... Six months in the drydock, I'd say."
Kirk: "I give you two hours."
Scotty: "I do it one!"

Captain: Deth, reroute auxilary power to the shields!
Chief Engineer Deth: Wait, wait, I spilled smoothie all over my keyboakjrgkafhga.

Hmmm I was always a fan of Star Trek: The Next Generation. If they pull this off... wow. I'd definitely play a medical or science chick.

Dave wrote this then went back to looking for porn:
How will the player econemy work if the federation doesn't use money?
I'll give you 5 bars of Latinum.
(not that I'm saying latinum is the currency of the federation, since its not and mainly used by everyone else, or atleast the ferengi) New Age Bane fucked around with this message on 01-28-2005 at 02:15 PM.

They probably will make it impossible to acquire wealth. The only way to advance will be to move up through Starfleet.

It was quite addicting back then.
Now, having a full graphical version of this would be even more addicting I'd think.
Heh, here I go, starting to get interested in too many MMORPGS at the same time again.

I completely agree. Which makes me sad

It doesn't have to be a good game; Star Trek stopped being about anything other than milking the cash cow when DS9 premiered in 1993. I will grant that Generations was made to bring closure to Roddenberry's Trek, but everything after that has been solely about the moolah.

DS9 actually had a good plot going by the end. It had some value.
All Voyager had going for it was 6of9's boobs. Other than those, it was worthless.

The Dominion War arc was decent, but Sisko's requisite tirade against the evils of war at the end of every episode got really annoying. My main beef with DS9/VOY is that Roddenberry's motifs and themes of are completely gone, with no pretense of any agenda other than making money via the Trek name.
