3. Single
So you wouldn't want a girl to break up with a boyfriend that she doesn't like as much to date you? Way to eliminate 80% of the girls out there in one fell swoop.
4. Into gaming (d&d, mmorpg, rpg, fps, etc)
So a girl who's into, say, journalism wouldn't be as attractive to you? I can understand wanting to share interests, but how one-dimensional do you have to be for this to be a major requirement?
5. At least somewhat good at gaming
Whaaat? So not only do they have to be into gaming, they have to be GOOD at it too? "I'm sorry, you've only ever gotten to level 20 in EQ, you're just not that hot."
6. Not unhealthily under or overweight
Between this and #3, I'm pretty sure you've eliminated every girl on the face of the planet.
7. Into modern/alternative rock
Because it's important to have identical tastes in music. Oh, wait, no it isn't.
8. Likes gamer guys with long hair and glasses
This one at least makes sense.
9. Into Anime (or at least can stand watching it)

3) Duuude... I'd be fine if they came to that conclusion on thier own, and I could see looking forward to it... But you make it sound like you'd aspire to it. Kind underhanded unless he is an absolute jerk.
4) Having things in common are great, but if gaming is a persons main affection, hobby, pasttime. Yeah, it's not bad to have it be a requirement that your ideal interests are the ones shared. If not, you have conflicts arise in your relationship because your prime interest either gets in the way of your relationship, or you become resentfull for having to forgo your main interests for the sake of your relationship, or you become resentful because thier main interest always comes before you/relationship.
5) I agree with you on that one.
6) I wouldn't want someone unhealthily overweight or underweight either... That doesn't eliminate most of the women on the face of the planet. Just the ones that wont ever be up for doing anything because they are unhealthy/lazy/whatever. Being inside the unhealth over/under weight gap is quite large.
7) See $4, it can cause a great many problems... For instance if your SO likes Celine Dion, but doesn't like Smashing Pumpkins, while you like Smashing Pumpkins but not Celine Dion. It will eventually begin to bug you, and compromise becomes a pain. It's even WORSE if you can't STAND the type of music that your SO likes, and visa versa, then it becomes a HUGE pain in the ass. It is not IMPOSSIBLE to maintain a DECENT relationship without this, but it does cause some strain. Especially for anything long term, for just your typically 'dating' you'll get by because you'll break up eventually anyway unless you learn to adapt by liking it over time anyway.
8) Makes as much sense as the rest, and falls into the initial attraction category.
9) See #4
The more things in common the better, and having your MAIN interests in common, or least in the "I like it" category, is almost an absolute must for a lasting relationship. You can always hope to get lucky, and meet someone adaptable, as in willing to like whatever you like, and visa versa.
Of course all of these also apply to the one making the requirements because they have to be compatible to the same degree.
Part of a healthy relationship is teaching each other and exploring new things.
What you should look for is someone who wouldn't be opposed to trying out new things with you. Over my years in dating, I learned so much from my boyfriends. I developed my own tastes, yet learned to appreciate the hobbies they enjoyed as well. Such as gaming or NASCAR or photography.
If you look for a cookie cutter person, you set yourself up for a stagnant relationship.
At least that's my opinion. Take it or leave it.

Pretty much, and thats part of dating. Which is where adaptability comes in. However incompatibility in interests can kill a relationship. Good part is, as long as you have quite a few of your main interests in common, or at least in the 'like' category you will more than likely develope new tastes and interest over time. Some all new for both parties involved, which is the best part.
If you are a gamer, and its your main hobby, you aren't going to fair well with someone who doesn't like games.
If you are a rocker, you aren't going to fair well with someone who doesn't like some of the rock, or middle ground. Radio wars are infamous!
I HATE rap music, but UBT loves it. Our agreement is that he listens to it whenever I am not around.
I think if you found someone diametrically opposed to anything you liked, it wouldn't be a good match. But I think it would be a great disservice to yourself if you don't remain open to finding someone that is flexible (not a gymnast TCHA! although that would rock) and wanting to enjoy new things.
When I think back to myself in the '80's, I would never have imagined myself playing video games or DnD. Yet I really enjoy those things now. I wouldn't have gotten into those things if it weren't for men in my life.

A sleep deprived Waisz stammered:
Well, most people wouldn't tolerate a lot of the gaming interests, so it is fairly important...
Actually, you'll be surprised. It's just when the guy values their gaming time moreso than their girl is when it becomes an issue. (Or, girls value gaming time moreso than their guy. Works both ways obv.)

wut she said!
That goes for more than just gaming though. I understand where you guys are coming from, but seriously, people generally like to learn new things with each other. Not everyone has to have the same hobbies. That would become boring fast if you felt that you had nothing new to discover.
However, I'm also not looking for a relationship now, or most likely anytime in the future.
So there. Besides, I could kick your ass, Vin.
