I stopped watching James Bond movies after Goldeneye, which in my opinion was the last "true" one.

So I don't really care who the next one is played by.

to the point Bloom is too young, Bond is not young, he's a seasoned vet, thats why he's unshakable. Let bloom get some wrinkles or some more leathery skin.

I agree, Golden Eye kicked ass and was the last good one. Pierce Brosnan makes a very good Bond but the writers have been even crappier than usual lately..

The article says they are trying to get Bloom, not that he has accepted the part.

He is NOT Bond. That is all there is to it. Let's hope he realises that.

I tend to agree, when it came to acting i though the guy who played the second batman (drew a blank trying to rember his name) was the worse of the 3 modern ones.

They went from Dark knight to Camp again, should have left Robin out and certainly Batgirl.

though the villians havent been that bad. Obviously Jack as The joker was a brilliant choice, but Carey was great as the riddler. Bane could have been a bit better though.

Nicholson was fantastic as the Joker. Pfeiffer was the perfect Catwoman (this new Halle Berry movie is going to suck ass), DeVito was the perfect Penguin. The problem was that after that, they started thinking they had to have two or more villains per movie. Riddler could have had a movie unto himself. Two-Face was reduced from being the second most psychologically twisted Batman villain (next to the Joker) to the Riddler's armed thug. That's when it started to suck.

Ahnold as Mr Freeze was horrific, Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy was frightening, and Bane, the cunning steroid-and-surgery-enhanced murderer who systematically wore down via a good plan of action and BROKE BATMAN'S BACK in the comics was reduced to a grunting, lurching, moron. Of course that entire movie was camp, so it fits they fuck everything up.

Robin, on the other hand, was not the problem. If anyone was going to play Dick Grayson, it should be Chris O'Donnell. I could see him as Dick Grayson, Robin, and I could see him as Nightwing. Batgirl was definitely a problem.

It's easy to age an actor with a decent makeup artist. Grey the hair a little, age the skin, adding 10 or 20 years to bloom would be easy. But they won't, and that's the problem.

If they did, I feel that he'd have a shot at the role, because he is actually a pretty good actor, he's just too young looking.

But his voice is to high and I highly doubt he can 'act' old.

Let alone suave and sophisticated.

Bloom is a horrible choice, he's a decent actor but NOT for Bond..

I wish Brosnan had stayed on but that still doesn't fix the shitty script and directing and overall mediocrity of the whole James Bond phenomenon these days.

I can understand why they/he are retireing him as Bond, if you look at him from his first bond to his latest one you can tell hes aging and hes starting to look a little old and worn out...

I think its time for a new actor but I agree with the majority I cant see bloom as that actor, to young...

Michael Keaton had the best attitude for Batman, and gave it real feel, however he lacked anywhere CLOSE to the look of Batman even though his roles were the best of the Batman roles. Val Kilmer LOOKED like Batman, but could never act his way out of a paper bag, and just made Batman lame. They needed to mix these two traits, Keatons acting and protrayal, and Kilmer's looks and badassitude. Christian Bale serves this purpose pretty damn well in my opinion. The looks of Batman and the acting potential to pull it off.

Orlando Bloom is a pretty boy, he looks like a boy, his previous roles were semi-naive and immature, Bond he is not. Although to be perfectly honest, I never have been a real Bond fan to begin with, and havent even really watched any since Connery was Bond. Not my cup of tea.

Halle Berry aside from having looks, sucks ass as an actress anyway, and I firmly believe her movie will suck ass too. And barely messing with the origins isn't enough to seperate it from the Batman Catwoman, and what makes you say its not based of the Batman Catwoman. That is the origin of Catwoman, that statement was just retarded.

Orlando as Bond =

But the only reason this seems a bad choice to us is because we have an ingrained image in our head as to who and what Bond is. If youve never heard of any of the previous Bonds, you wouldnt think this to be such crap. What theyre trying to do is create a totally new and different image of what Bond is.

If they're trying to just come up with something totally different, then give it a different name. Maybe the lead could be called something like "Cody Banks" if Bloom is going to play it, instead of "James Bond".

Orlando Bloom being James Bond is the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard. Yes, he is a decent actor, but fucking James Bond? Jesus.

Why can't they let the series die already. I'm a huge Bond fan, but they've been fucking the title up for too long.

I wish they would just stop the bullshit.

ahhh the critic I loved that show too bad it got canceled.

Conery was the definitive bond, but moore was also a great bond, but he was a different kind. he used more gadgets than physical stuff. that idiot they had after him sucked. I mean he didnt sleep with the girl a guy who plays bond who says no to a sexy woman is not bond, hell bond is all about making women who normaly say NO pant with desire.

Bond is a male fantasy the guy who can get any woman defeat any man.. A mans Man. poor bloom is none of those things he looks slightly fem to me.

anyway Just like Tom baker was the definitive DR, im sure they will plod along til they find the right guy. No one will walk away from the franchise becuse its money in the bank.. no matter how bad it is people will go see it hoping to see a good movie.

Christian Bale is a downright awesome all around actor. I don't like everything he has done, but he is awesome in it.

Tommy Lee Jones is a fucking badass and can pull off anything, hell he has made shitty movies that were good just because he was in it.

Kate Winslet is HORRIBLY underrated and a seriously great actress who suffers mainly from the stigma of Titanic which both made her career for a time, and subsequently made her a joke. She is an awesome actress, and can make even her shitty movies tolerable... TO a degree. Some are just downtight mindfuck quality, ala Jude. *shudders*

Sean Connery is top notch, much like Christian Bale I don't like everything he is in, but he is a DAMN great actor.

Tom Cruise is awesome, but makes some shitty movies, even though his acting is superb.

Hopkins, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, and many more.

Thats just a couple off the top of my head. They can all make shitty movies at some point, but all are great actors/actresses

Hate list includes

Demi Moore, Sharon Stone, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Hugh Grant....

There are more. I was, and continue to be a thespian addict, and I'm a very hard critic, but I'm not that hard. Halle Berry sucks, and has proved it time and time again. She's just hot and gets all this credit purely for being eye candy, not for any ability. I want to be entertained, and hot'n'heavy doesn't have the same effect on me it used to, so I want a good quality job.

Pierce Brosnan rocked as James Bond. I'd seriously jump into bed with that super-spy (Sean Connery too, even old as he is).

Bloom strikes me as a "romantic comedy" type actor. He's just a pretty face.
As I see it, for the time being, I think he has no stand out acting qualities at all.
