No, see that makes it a fad. EC fads are bad because whatever because a fad ends up sucking. Don't need that happening.

I'd like this game more if the beast team didn't suck so much.
I've seen both teams tear through each other with ease. Its more imbalanced within the races than between them. For humans, a savage with a launcher, medkit, demopack, and immobilizer is a force to be reckoned with. For beasts, a predator with surge, frenzy, mist shroud, and mist will tear through a force easily. The only real imbalance, IMHO, concerns the fact that the behemoth is worthless.
Anyways, The melee owns. Only non melee I can stand is Marksman bow or the siege weapons.

My problem is that the humans are just as good at melee as the beasts are. But they get better long-range attacks and siege units than we do.
What the beasts need is a natural speed boost over humans so we can actually chase down humans without having to expend stamina in the process.
Not to mention those fucking immobilizers piss me off to no end.

I don't know about that. the weapon swings on the beasts seam to be set up to hit a wider area so they are a little easier to kill moving targets with.

I've noticed no difference in the melee abilities between the teams. Same damage, same range, same speed.

I noticed I hit people more often with beasts.. maybe it's just me.
It's quite cool to do a right click dash jump with a melee attack and kill someone as you fly by them.
As far as ranged combat go, much of it depends on how the beast comm specs. Get a comm who goes down the nexus (melee line) and you'll get torn up at range. get a comm who goes down the strata line (for frost bolt) and beasts do great ranged damage. Personally, my favorite ranged weapon is the beasts' surge in the entropy line.
As far as siege, its up in the air. Ballistas are a great unit, useful vs both players and buildings. On the other hand, summoners have infinite mana and can hide/move a lot more easily. Which one you like more depends on preference.
There's definite differences in speed, damage, swing rate, and swing range between the teams. Can find that info in multiple places. Should be noted that predator seems to have a range that's a little more than the animation, giving them a longer swing range than legos.

This game is awesome. An EC Server would be great.
If there's a Linux server, and if I can actually get the game started to play and find out how good it is, then I have no arguments about setting one up.

They're supporting Linux quite well; there's a Linux demo and I believe you can install the Linux client via the game CD. You can run a Linux server, but you can't run a dedicated Linux (or Win) server yet without fooling with some setting.
EDIT2: Yeah, I looked on the CD, theres an INSTALL.linux thingy. [ 10-11-2003: Message edited by: Willias ]
Linux demo probably comes with linux server thingy. Because I know that with the Windows demo, there is a Dedicated demo server set up thingy. [ 10-11-2003: Message edited by: Willias ]
