Wolfenstein 3D. Although the first FPS I ever bothered to stick with long enough to beat was Descent II.

Doom was the first I ever saw, Duke Nukem was the first that I played.

Well, if it counts, it was the D&D game for Intellivision. Dungeons & Dragons: The Treasure of Tarmin. It was first person, and you used range weapons (war weapons) and spells (spiritual weapons).

If that doesn't count, then Doom.

Wolfenstein 3d, yup. Then Doom, Quake, etc. All according to form. Then for some reason I stopped getting them...probably because I ran out of extra cash to buy several games with, thus limiting my choices

I think it's a tie between Blake Stone and Wolf3D.

Quake II, IIRC. In some kind've genetic fluke, I had a natural aptitude for the game when it first came out. I jumped in a LAN game with some friends (who were all pretty decent players in general) and repeatedly beat the crap out of them; they couldn't even lay a hand on me.

And thus, the Flannel Avenger was born...

Of course, anyone who's played CS with me knows where all my FPS talent went =\

Once more into the breach, my friends, once more. We'll close the wall with our dead. In peace, nothing so becomes a man as modesty and humility, but when the blast of war blows in our ears, then imitate the action of the tiger, summon up the blood, disguise fair nature with rage and lend the eye a terrible aspect.

Saw: Wolf 3D.

Old friend of mine had this game.

Played: Doom.

I miss Doom. I wish someone would remake it...

LANed: Duke 3D

So many good memories...

Wuss. Wolf3D full version for me. Though I always wonder what the first FPS ever was.

AFAIK, Hovertank 3D was the first on the PC. I'm sure you can find earlier games on the Amiga or Mac, I just wasn't around for them.
