My friends recently told me that techno sucks and if I continue to listen to it I shall be burnt... ^_^;
I just wondered who else likes Techno.

You like...
1. Techno
2. Punk
3. Rock
4. Country (god forbid)
5. Pop

I don't like techno, punk, rap, death metal or teenybopper pop music.

Anything else is okay. Country, folky rock, 70s and 80s music, other pop music besides teenybopper pop.

as long as the music sounds good, i'll listen.

However, punk does not sound good, it's poorly written instrumental with whiny bastards shouting over it.

When I'm around people I can listen to pretty much anything. Though I can only take limited doses of Techno/Dance, Heavy Metal, and next to no Rap. Probably the reason I get sick when in very dense, loud enviroments.

When I'm alone, it all depends on my mood. I mostly find myself listening to Alternative and sorrounding genres, but there are days I listen to Classical or Country.

emo.

Only emo that doesn't suck though.

Usually the emo that isn't a bunch of high kids whining about their ex-girlfriend. Jimmy-style emo (I use Jimmy Eat World as an example because most people know what it is) is awesome. And though I don't really consider it emo, most people classify it as such, so see sigpic.

Love you Bennypoo.

p.s. Good emo I actually find to be extremely happy and upbeat. Stuff like "live life for the good times" ect ect. This is actually why I listen to it as often as I do and am an emo kid in spirit.

Groups like Ben Kweller, Weezer, The Get Up Kids, Piebald (only some of their stuff, such as Fat and Skinny), Guster, Jimmy Eat World, Pete Yorn, John Mayer (hey, most people consider these folks emo, whatever)...Something For Kate, to a lesser extent...whatever, you get the point. A lot of people consider all of them emo but a great many of their songs are more happy, or possibly reflective, than sad.

Remember, sad isn't the only emotion. It annoys the crap out of me that people take the worst out of the bunch who're jumping the trend bandwagon and use them as a reason to condemn the entire subgenre. The fact is it kicks ass and is a hell of a lot better than a lot of metal--which, by the way, is whinier--and I stand by what I say in that the majority of emo is actually really goddamn happy and fun and that only "emo kids" with no life spend their young adulthood crying through their lenseless trendy glasses with an almost 1960s style lost in the 70s.

Emo is a better genre than people give it credit for, and people only say it sucks because they've never even given it a chance beyond the whiny and wonderful Dashboard Confessional or whatever else.
