Thoughts?
Invoking god's name that many times was probably a bad idea, given the subject matter.
Anyone care to highlight the main points?

Bush claims to be able to simultaneously cut taxes, institute expensive new government programs, wage war, and still not "leave problems for future Congresses or Presidents" (like an enormous budget imbalance).
Go figure that one out. Maybe he's hired Enron's old accounting team to run the treasury. [ 01-28-2003: Message edited by: Drysart ]
It's not something people hear about.
Hydrogen powered car research
AIDS research
Other biological viri research
Also, of course, he talked about Iraq and the war on terrorism.
All in all a good speech. I'd just like to see some of it done for once.

I was thinking that too. He's cutting taxes and he's talking about introducing like, 5 multi-billion dollar programs.

Damn, I'm sorry to miss that. We read about that in my chem class last year and they were really making strides into the whole thing.

My teacher tells me that they have functioning models, and they are 99.2% pollution free, and they're workign on that last .8%, with that last bit being from burnt oil.

Yep. the rich people get a nice huge tax cut.

There was an article about it 2 issues of Discover ago. If I remember correctly... Ford and 2 japanese companies were already releasing hybrid fuel cell engines. I thought I would definitely get one once they're widespread. [ 01-28-2003: Message edited by: Tier ]

Exactly. The tax plan makes perfect sense to me, I just hope he implements it well.

I think a larger tax cut on my paycheck would help me more than the owner of the privately held company that pays my wages getting more money for himself.

ROFL. Right.
So they get more money for themselves. What do they do with more money for themselves? Try to make more money, right? Oh, sure, a little goes towards thier groceries and houses and things, but it all more or less goes towards making even more money.
And how do they make even more money? By invensting in someone ELSE'S business? Or do they expand thier OWN business by adding jobs and raising wages to make the position seem more desierable?

The AIDS Relief For Africa program was an awesome idea in my opinion.
The tax cuts make me uneasy. I really believe that Bush's administration's domestic policies are idiotic.
Lemme put it this way... OMFGHAHAHAHAHAHLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope they allow remote linking.
(Yes, I did watch the State of the Union. I didn't realize how chrismatic Bush Jr. is. I actually found myself agreeing with him at certain points. Then again, he might have just been right.)
The atrocities in Iraq are outrageous, the weapons unaccounted for and the fact that Hussein lied about 'em has removed any doubts about going to war with Iraq, its nice of him to be thinking about those poor people in Africa, and hydrogen fuel would certainly decrease the cost of gas, since its quite a common element in the atmosphere, at least from my understanding.
{Edit} h and BM, I agree, I got a few chuckles out of that. [ 01-28-2003: Message edited by: Star Collective ]

I cannot decide whether you're implying that the torture going on in Iraq is only propaganda for bleeding hearts, or whether you genuinely don't give a crap about any innocents that might be over there. Please, don't leave me in suspense.

Things change. Get used to it.

I'm trying to find a less biased article on the subject.
But anyway, I know you don't pay attention to my posts.

So giving money directly to the working class is throwing it away? I'm not following your logic.

So you think its just propaganda then?
I thought the threat of torture and rape of children while the parents were forced to watch was a little much to be made up, but hey, thats just going by what Bush said.
My first impulse was in fact, skepticism, and I would be delighted to find out Bush just cut this stuff out of whole cloth to garner more support. That means that innocents in Iraq are NOT suffering these horrors, and less human suffering = good IMO.

Bush doesn't like me. I was on the phone for the first half or so of the address, and as soon as I get off Bush says "Go home and die."...

Last I heard, the innocents in Iraqi territory that is not controlled by Saddam are doing just fine.

And you're right, I did. I don't know when that happened, I was probably irritated at something else and just being pissy. You're off now.
