I don't understand this. I don't want to understand this. People, these boards are here for you to post on. And unless the content of that post is intensely profane, vicious, or found otherwise inappropriate through the deduction of COMMON SENSE, then there's nothing wrong with it.
I don't think any of you really want us to start policing content in that manner. What kind of ridiculous community would this be if we restricted everyone's choice of topics to candy coated, comic related ideas?
As for the voting system. You guys do realize that there are more selections other than 1 and 5 right? You guys do realize that the crap rating was initially designed to signify moronic banning material behavior right? You guys DO REALIZE that it was not meant as a weapon?
Here's a novel idea: why not use the rating system as it was intended - a way to signify which threads have the best content and which threads the mods should catch.
If a post has something in it that you find bland or uninteresting, that doesn't mean its crap. C'mon people, I know you guys can do better than this. Don't make us start policing you guys like kindergarteners with sharp pencils.
And for the record, Tim is quite capable of determining for himself who is abusing the boards and who is not. If you *really* feel like the boards are going to cave in on themselves without your divine input, then PM DRYSART. These private wars and public wars between you all are utterly unecessary in the long run and make us sad.

I'm not accusing anyone, Fae. But the fact of the matter is that someone IS bringing Deth into the issue. The crapping of his threads never starts until someone is unhappy with me. Otherwise, they're left alone, or they're given high ratings. When I look at how many votes there are for it to have a Crap rating, there are more than one.
As I said, the Crap rating isn't the issue. I don't care if it's Crapped, because I can vote it up. It's the fact that he's being attacked because of disagreement with me. I don't like that. And it is happening. I went to Tim on the issue because I wanted it to stop.

If an opinion is presented civilly, without insult or flaming, and the person gets reamed up the ass for it, then that's a problem with the reamers, not the one who presented it.

Okay enough... I said to lock it, Kat tried to end it, Reynar tried to make a funny to end it peacefully.
Honesty is the best policy, that is always the case.
However, being silently honest, and then claiming your way is best because you dont flame with it is not an acceptable excuse. Underhanded, snide, and petty attacks, or veiled insults hiding behind a protective wall, and claiming righteousness is far, far worse than any amount of flaming.
Having a differing opinion is not the issue, having a grandstanding opinion is. Claiming righteousness is, and "politely" disagreeing behind the silk screen doesn't excuse it as underhanded. This doesn't apply to just me, or this issue, this is the way of things. We have talked about things like this in the past, and disagreed. It is not an issue. Your way is not better, your way is more cruel.
This thread wasn't even about you. I vented about information I had learned, but it was never the point, and I never named names. My concern was for public opinion. You made me feel like total shit with what had been said, and it has NOTHING to do with voting. Nothing.
I am not angry, this does not make me angry. This hurt me. I don't think anyone here, besides maybe Chris, has seen me angry. And it wasn't over anything at EC. But I am, and remain hurt by it.
I request this thread closed, and preferably deleted. I am not angry, but I am very close to getting there.
And Fae needs to e-mail me more, or else I get ulcers from being all worry-like.
