You smell that? Do you smell that? ...Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory.

You took mine, I took it back - so back off bish.. they're MINE. ALL MINE.

Then again nothing's stopping you from swooping in and taking em back.. my lowly tech level 6 ship and piddly planets probably won't last long

That+s what genesis torps are for.

Life... is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable, because all you get back is another box of chocolates. You're stuck with this undefinable whipped-mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there's nothing else left to eat. Sure, once in a while, there's a peanut butter cup, or an English toffee. But they're gone too fast, the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits, filled with hardened jelly and teeth-crunching nuts, and if you're desperate enough to eat those, all you've got left is a... is an empty box... filled with useless, brown paper wrappers.

You're not in an alliance, so you're probably going to get fried anyway. I give you a week tops before you give up since you people seem really unwilling to team up with people

Gather dem 3-4 people alliances and the unallied people and make an alliance!

No, the AA is not going to invite any more members till large alliances start popping up. So go gather up the people looking for an alliance and the smaller alliances and make a big one.

You're all aware that this is BETA, and will soon be obliterated from the face of Evercrest, only to respawn in a fantasy based castle-building/Trade whoring game.

They allow you to choose what it says in the top center - like how sector 0 says "Sol:Hub of the Universe".

Problem is, they only work once in a sector, even though it says it changes it... a bug, perhaps...

Check sector 76. Suchii put up a "Tori was here" beacon, then I put a "Delphi was here, push for porn!" then a "Delphi was here, that explains the smell" then "In space, no one can smell you"

So it works.

I've seen it do that a few times before. No bigs, it stops if you logout then back in.

BTW, how many fighters/torps should a planet have to be somewhat safe? I've got one with about 200k fighters and 200k torps... My holdout base.

What's this thing do?

Double it, then you'll be half safe. Heh.

Good job, I'm sure she'll like you for it.

Right now they have something like that. Shuttling colonists back and forth is a pain.... 2 mil a trip, then again that inculdes fighters and torps, but still...

Nice knowing ya, Delphi.

So, since cloak/sensors/torps/beams for bases are rated at the same level your ships are (unless I'm wrong), would that apply to your shields, too?

I'm thinking a superstrong planetary defense would involve have an insane amount of excess energy to keep the shields powered. For example, if you had a million spare energy on a planet, what would it take to get through those shields?

Darn... wish I had before and after numbers from when Zachary attacked Compassion...

posted 08-14-2002 08:24:04 PM
1 energy = 1 sheild unit. So if a planet had 1 mill energy (Not hard to do), that planet would have one million shields to go through..

However! Energy also powers beams, so in the example above, the planet would actually use 1 mil beams first (See FAQ for attack order), destroying any fighters sent towards it, then it would use any remaining for sheilds.

Same for ships.

Btw, the planet was in sector 166.. I think. Not populated, just kinda there. So I blew it to bits.

I've captured 3 of her planets in the game so far, 2 of which I still have. I fear I'll lose them now, considering I only shipped a load of colonists fighters and torps for their defences.

Oops... sorry, Fighter...

I might suggest that people run a full scan from sector 1 before they take a warp jump from there... I'm starting to feel guilty.

Either that, or carry lots of creds for tolls.

Yes, I know I shouldn't have put planets there. Good old 20/20 hindsight.
