Well, it was as I feared. The damned trivials nerf went in. Now us smiths under 242 skill have to find something else to skillup on. Before you could make fine plate cloaks to 242. Now, all fine plate trivials by 201.
This is NOT a good thing for me. Yak (The VI tradeskills guy) said he was going to make high-level smithing more like Velious tailoring!
Basically, based on the rumors from Test, every recipe post 201 requires some rare drop... hope it's not too hideous.
Now... what do they all do...

Taylen wrote this stupid crap:
On the plus side it might also mean that high level smithing items will be even more in demand. Like certain high level talioring items are.
Right. And all those people who powerskilled to 242 wasting 30k in the process will get to make those items. No one will come to a 209 smith with all these 242+ smiths out there now...
* rant ramble bitch whine moan grumble snort
I wonder what the old cultural smithing stuff is trivial at now.

Beta Tested stumbled drunkenly to the keyboard and typed:

They should have worked as a very easy-to-resist fear. Imagine shooting gooey worms, grubs and maggots at your enemy, making said enemy run around screaming "EWWWW! GET EM OFF GET EM OFF!!!"
"here, let me beat on you with this piece of glass while beating on this pile of dust!"

That's what the 200 new tradeskill recipies are for. You could get to 222 before, WITHOUT farming items, etc to make Fine plate. You simply made ornate chain. Everything was avaliable on vendors. (Albeit in limited supply for the ore) It was, however, the more expensive route.
There are already reports at EQtraders that a good number of new recipies are just ornate chain using different materials. The progression is more like jewelcraft than tailoring. (electrum, silver, gold, plat)
No reports on the trivial levels, however. But if the silver ornate chain was equal in difficulty to fine plate, I'd wager the plat ornate is more difficult (and in-line with the old cultural armor or new acyrlia plate trivials)

Why was it necessary to nerf an item that was replaced on all servers by a nerfed item?
Why don't we go nerfing manastones, guises of the deceiver, and boxes of abu kar while we're at it?
Obulous death shroud cast spell casting haste III on it
quote:Overpowered was why it was nerfed in the FIRST PLACE, dipshit. They said it was ONLY going to be nerfed on pvp servers, but they nerfed it on ALL servers.
Delphi Aegis spewed forth this undeniable truth:
Because, Dens, when people on PvP servers heard about the impending nerf of Egg Shaped Pumice, they bought backpacks upon backpacks full. Granted, they couldnt get any more, but an instacasting dispell for any class was kinda nice.. And overpowered.
It's been like a year since then. Either most reserves of egg shaped pumice are gone, or will never had been used because people didn't wanna waste it.

Which begs the question: Why didnt they change the original item to this in the first place?
Gimme a few mins and I'll post pics of my fuxxed inventory, its kinda neatlooking. I attack with a yellow sash! RAR!
Hope I remembered that right. Again, thanks to MadCat for hosting.
Now, the Shissar fangs are about the only ok item.. Heh.. But thats my bag of food.. and it seems like I drink Fizzlecutter formula from a bloody head! WOOT!
Edit: Hmm. Caps sensitive, arent we? [ 06-05-2002: Message edited by: Delphi Aegis ]
Edit2: Bah, I shoulda cut out my stats. Laugh all you want... Heh.
Also, my ring on the one side seems to be fine.. and no that isnt a SoW potion, its a greater Lightstone.

Platinum Ornate chain legs and boots were trivial below 175.
Looks like Acrylia armor will require hunting down an enchanter, for one temper component is a vial of clear mana.
Still not happy here... [ 06-05-2002: Message edited by: Mightion Defensor ]

Yeah, I noticed that too.

Theory: Reagent Conservation # = # of reagents not used in casting an item.
Test: Zumiak`s Animation. Cost: 3 Tiny Daggers.
Item(s) in use:
After casting, the cost was 1 tiny dagger.
Results: Positive. Added info: These effects stack, reduces the # of regents needed to cast
Theory: Extended Range III - Extends casting(or throwing/bows, still need to test these, though doubt it) range by 3xRange Percentage. Percentage is unknown to me right now.
Test: Adorning Grace on a Shadowhave Guard.
Item(s) used:
Results: I was able to back up beyond normal range(found out by taking item off and getting closer as I cast) and still cast beyond the old range.
Theory: Summoning Haste II - Reduces time on summoning spells.
Test: Zumiak`s Animation. Cast time: 12.0 [ 06-05-2002: Message edited by: Skaw ]
Item(s):
Results: Positive. Time with item: 9.5 +/-, though casting time ran out at 8, might have lagged on it.
Stopwatches are so innacurate sometimes.
And I tried looking at the time, hell, I had to cause I forgot how long it took to cast Zumiak`s.
And don't hybrids 50+ get an already altered cut on offensive spells which displays "Your casting time?" Yeah. So make sure you weren't looking at an offensive spell. [ 06-05-2002: Message edited by: Skaw ]
That is a HYBRID only thing
It is because we have innate Spell Haste Focus
quote:
How.... Delphi Aegis.... uughhhhhh:
Thats why I said "I think". Jeezus, dont have to jump down my throat, It said "Your casting time" When I would wear a mage focus item giving casting haste.
Delph is correct on this. The mage focus items for improving casting speed DID show base time and your actual time for casting.
I played around with them a bit with my mage the day they came out. Pitty I can't stand to play my mage anymore.
If the new casting focus items don't show both casting times, I'm supprised. Maybe it's something they forgot to add?
[Edit: or, someone could explain that it's a Hybrid thing, and make me look like I don't know what I'm talking about. ] [ 06-05-2002: Message edited by: Palador ChibiDragon ]
Hybrids have had it forever.

Which, at level 51; works on exactly one spell in my spellbook; Dismiss Undead.

You're not an offensive hybrid

Mort is. In more ways than one.
*Clothespins his nose shut*
So it's *not* just a hybrid thing, contrary to what's being said here.
It doesn't show the new spell cast time on your Zumiak's Animation because Summoning Haste II probably doesn't affect that level of spell.
Focus I: 1 - 20
Focus II: 1 - 44
Focus III: 1 - 60

Theres still a significant cut Mr. Smartypants

Anyway, I havent checked a lot of my spells recently.. ToK has that "Your casting time" Thing, but, I havent noticed it anywhere else.. /shrug
